insecur1ties Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 Hi guys, Is it possible to get ptosis correction on one eye only? One side of my eye have droppy eyelid, the other side looks fine. Is it necessary to do both?
missbarbara Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 I don't know exactly, but i heard for ptosis correction, you have to do double eyelid also. So it will be unnatural if you do only one side.
insecur1ties Posted March 2, 2017 Author Posted March 2, 2017 Really? Oh no.. I don't want to do double eyelids surgery >____<
missbarbara Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 But i'm not sure. Try to contact any clinic and ask about that ^^
enf782 Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 I'm the exact same! I only want ptosis correction on one side.... no double eyelid surgery since I'm fine with monolids. ;-; My eyelids are just uneven. I was wondering the same thing!
jennie0906 Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 Sure you can get ptosis correction on only one eye. Doctor will balance out both eyes by doing the correction on only one side.
enf782 Posted March 3, 2017 Posted March 3, 2017 This is what one clinic responded (still waiting from a few others):"If you don't want to make double-eyelids, Ptosis correction should be proceeded with inner double eyelids at least. " Anyone know what they mean by inner DES? Are they referring to medial canthoplasty/ epicanthoplasty? (D: I dont want medial! lol)
tracer91 Posted March 3, 2017 Posted March 3, 2017 i think they are referring to non-incisional ptosis correction, i am interested in that too, since i don't want to cut my eyes. They probably doing that on the inside of your eyelid?
enf782 Posted March 3, 2017 Posted March 3, 2017 Hmm, Googled "non-incisional ptosis correction" and got this page with some info: http://www.tlplasticsurgery.com/eyeplasty/ptosis-correction/non-incisional/ It says "Only ptosis correction [that] can be performed without creating double eyelid surgery" + "Pre-permanent double eyelid crease by multi-point buried suture method" The page only shows After images with newly created double eyelids so I'm not sure. :/ Did you consider canthoplasty? I'm considering lateral without medial but idk if I should do that. I havent heard of a case where someone got lateral without medial. Maybe it would make me look cross-eyed? D: They said it's not risky but I've read some posts telling people here to be careful.
enf782 Posted March 3, 2017 Posted March 3, 2017 This girl has monolids but seems to have gotten medial canthoplasty:https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/f9/01/2f/f9012fe611c03bfba015c438e8afd42d.jpg Son Ga In also has monolids which suit her well. I cant tell if she's undergone any surgeries on her eyes to elongate them. Anyone have thoughts?
insecur1ties Posted March 3, 2017 Author Posted March 3, 2017 I'm confused, ptosis incision is by cutting your eyelids? Means it's considered double eyelid surgery too?
tracer91 Posted March 3, 2017 Posted March 3, 2017 i just want to have ptosis correction, no cantho. i heard cantho is very risky and actually i am okay with my eyes non-insional ptosis does not required to cut the skin. Docs will make small holes instead of incising the skin to correct ur ptosis, similar to non incisional des.. There are 2 types of ptosis, incisional and non incisional same like with des
insecur1ties Posted March 4, 2017 Author Posted March 4, 2017 Ptosis correction is not double eyelid surgery right? Someone said if I do ptosis correction, I have to do double eyelid surgery as well. I already have double eyelids, if I do ptosis surgery, would my natural double eyelids still be there?
lovelypeach Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 It's okay, you can have ptosis correction on one eye only. If the doctor thinks that you need some correction on the other eye, he will tell you. He'll suggest you what is the best he can do, but you're still the one that decide your surgery * And yeah, sometimes ptosis can give you double eyelids. But the main purpose is not to get double eyelid surgery, ptosis correction aims to lift your eye muscle to make your eyes more open.
insecur1ties Posted March 4, 2017 Author Posted March 4, 2017 I already have double eyelids haha, I'm scared that if I do ptosis surgery, my natural double eyelids will become monolid (is that even possible??) or not that obvious. The consultant told me that it's recommended to get ptosis surgery on both eyes. >_<
