gigihadid Posted July 14, 2017 Posted July 14, 2017 Good day everyone! This week I'm going to Seoul to have a double jaw surgery. I'm a little bit scared and have many questions regarding surgery and living in Korea. It would be very helpful if anyone who has done such difficult surgeries have shakers their experience and advices. My list of clinics for two jaw surgery: 1.Zeah dental 2.the face dental 3.EU dental 4.EverM 5.DA 6. Dream PS 7.ID My questions regarding surgery: 1) our surgery is very complex and requires X-Ray checking, CT, blood analysis and etc. Will all the clinics charge consultation fee and check by themselves each time we visit each clinic? Will they accept the analysis and other checkings from different clinic? Because it's crazy to visit 7 different clinics and get X-ray 7 times, plus spend consultation fee every time when we could just bring firstly done checking. 2) How to get the best price possible? Questions about Seoul: 1) what is the cheapest way to reach Gangnam region from airport? Taxi? What kind of? Maybe uber? How much will it cost? 2) Appartment's in Gangnam are very expensive and almost all of them are booked. Is it better to live in the center of Gangnam and pay high price for decent appartment or to live in better apprynment but in different area of Seoul? 3) Is it easy to use public transport or will take a lot of time to use metro?
taintedtaint Posted July 14, 2017 Posted July 14, 2017 I don't know how to answer your first question because I've never had the procedure, but typically you can get a better deal if you pay in cash. The cheapest way to get to Gangnam from the airport is by the airport shuttle. There's a great app called "Subway Korea" that will help you with your route. The subway is very easy to use, so it's not totally necessary to stay right in the heart of Gangnam. Taxis are also not that expensive.
gigihadid Posted July 14, 2017 Author Posted July 14, 2017 Thank you for your reply! What is better, cash in USD or KRW? About taxi, do we need to catch it on the streets or order ? Thank you again
andy-l-park Posted July 15, 2017 Posted July 15, 2017 1) There is two type hospital system for 2jaw surgery in Korea ps. Most of Korea ps clinic has no own dental system or medical team (I'm not talking about X-ray, 3D dimentional CT, etc...) Coz of this, they cooperate with another same or nearby building dental clinic. of cos some huge ps hospital like ID, BK, Wonjin have it.. but this isn't meaning I recommend that hospital but just explain about Korea ps hospital talk. Whatever... X-ray and CT, blood analysis doesn't need several times check result. One time shot report doc can use through all hospital but you have to pay for that if you don't have surgery in that hospital after check all but you can take it for the another clinic consultant. mm... normally, 3D + Xray is 100~150usd, blood test is around 50usd? maybe? Some SG patients bring that report from Singapore by themselves but it doesn't help becoz English problem.. doc form.. anyway. I don't recommend you bring it to here from sg hospital. 2) Find and read my thread about Seoul 1) Uber is not common transport here. Kakao taxi but driver cannot speak English. 6009bus, out of door 11Gate. This is just 15usd. Airport taxi fee cannot over 70~75usd to any Gangnam destination. If any driver call over 80usd than kick his ass. 2) I don't know which hospital is your final stage but most of lodging problem is not money if there is no big gap. Distance will be worst ploblem after surgery. Because you have to go hospital several times for treatment (especially kinda facial contour surgery makes people really tired and I can see you gonna regret when you go back to long distance hotel or guesthouse) 3) I don't recommend metro. Embarrassment is second problem. Really not easy to move to your destination. Worst problem is if you use metro in rush time then your surgical part will bump so many times. Unconditionally, Taxi. ok? Do you wanna take a risk after surgery for save chicken feed? You don't know how many times I went to the police office whenever they lost, in old days. That's it all. Add : If you go out to anywhere then ask to hotel staff get his or her number for outside problem. That's a best way.
gigihadid Posted July 15, 2017 Author Posted July 15, 2017 Dear Andy, thank you very much! Can you share your kakao, I see you have a big experience!
andy-l-park Posted July 15, 2017 Posted July 15, 2017 Not a big deal pal, I'm Korean and still working in Korea ps since 12years. but, speaking of experience.. -_-;; I'm straight person. My experience is telling me this kinda request make me bother. Sorry, If you have really important question or trouble then leave to here. I'll explain how to solve that. Have a good surgery.
gigihadid Posted July 15, 2017 Author Posted July 15, 2017 Ok. Just asked because maybe I will have more questions later. And while being in Seoul. It would have been amazing If i could ask you in messenger because then you would have answered faster but it's ok if you don't wanna be bothered For now, I'm still curious. I have already booked consultations with about 4 good clinics (dental). All of them I think have their own equipment to do proper checking of patients health( CT, X-ray, blood analysis). And I think all of them believe that we will do surgery in their clinic. This all examination I believe is not cheap. But if we choose to do surgery in their clinic they will take out this price from the surgery. But if we come to clinic and bring the results from another clinic and then decide to do the surgery in this clinic. We maybe will loose this money. You understand? So what, do we need to go first to the clinic which we think will we chose?
andy-l-park Posted July 15, 2017 Posted July 15, 2017 Ok, if you are front of real big trouble then pm me. I don't hesitate help you in Korea. Yes, if you gonna have surgery in that all examination hospital then your checking fee will be cut out from surgery price. But second you don't understand. By medical law... Dr or clinic have to give their patients check result to the person directly. By email.. or paper.. or anything. Of cos that need cost for using equipment or machine for first time examination... but it's duty. And your question answer is... You can use that patients check report paper in the 'another clinic'. Doesn't need twice or more examination again... ok? I convert this to easy version. If you finished all examination in A clinic but don't wanna surgery becoz you wanna have consult with the another clinic then, Request your all examination result and take it to the another clinic and have a consult with it and... If you have 3rd another consult then take it back and go to another clinic with it. Just repeat again.. Easy ma? If you don't have any special problem then all Korean ps dr can recognize the paper contents and give you good consult. I think My English has a problem;;; add : damn it;; I don't know;; I sent my kakao ID to your pm just now. ask anything -_-;;; add2 : I'm not angry;; just my rough way to speaking ^^

versible Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 Hi gigihadid, looking forward to hear your story! Have you done surgery/picked your choice?
alara Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 Hi dear, I'm pretty sure all consultation is free, even if it includes taking a CT scan to identify your problem etc, I did a consultation with like 7 clinics before making a decision (didn't do double jaw though) and no one charged me. you can probably visit a few clinics all in the same day. as for transportation I used train mostly, simply because the roads there can be crowded no kidding. it's easy getting around and taxi is really affordably, but if you are going to use a taxi please be prepared to show them the address in their own language.
versible Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 @Alara would you mind disclose 7 places you went consult with? What are you getting done?
