linacct
Hi everyone, hope all is well. Before I begin, I’d like to say a HUGE thank you to everyone on this forum that has posted of their experience, opinions or advice in relation to getting plastic surgery in South Korea. Not only to the people on tpf, but also thank you to the massive plastic surgery chat on Kakao. I promised myself I would write of my experience to payback for what I have gained from this incredibly supportive community, so here it is and sorry it is long overdue. Prior to surgery, I was very unsatisfied with my monolidded eyes. I used heavy eyeliner every day to cover up my insecurity, so you can imagine how long my morning routine was trying to perfect my make-up. Honestly, it was a chore every day. Despite that, my friends would still comment about my tired, sad or angry appearance whenever my facial muscles were relaxed. I didn’t like the feeling of having to smile 24/7 to get rid of that resting b**** face, so double eyelid surgery was a definite procedure I wanted to undergo.Consultation Firstly, I must say that Ruby’s WeChat consultant provided great service. Both prompt and informative replies were given whenever I messaged her at the pace of a snail. She came across as very friendly and easy to talk to so I was extremely satisfied with my online consultation, hence why I decided to visit the clinic. Ruby’s interior was the most impressive. Upon arriving, I was greeted by several consultants and sat down to fill in some forms. I was then taken to a private consultation room to meet the consultant and English translator, Daysi. We started to discuss the procedures and what kind of look I was aiming for. Both were very friendly and attentive. I didn’t feel anything was lost through translation. The consultant was informative in the eye procedures she recommended, and everything was in line with what I expected and was comfortable with. My only complaint is that other procedures such as fat grafting and fillers were suggested, but as soon as my mum and I refused these additional procedures, they stopped. After meeting the consultant, I met the surgeon Dr Lee. He inspected my eyes both hands-on and with different tools before recommending me incisional double eyelid surgery with ptosis correction and epicanthoplasty. I already had quite big eyes to begin with so the focus was to correct the ptosis and create the double eyelid line. Due to the limited space between my eyes, if I were to do epicanthoplasty, he could only cut a little. Dr Lee also did not recommend lateral canthoplasty as cutting too close to the bone would risk the lateral leaving a scar. I was already 99% sure I was going to secure the surgery with him because he emanated such knowledge and experience during the consultation. So after going through the usual crease positioning and showing him some photos of what I liked, I paid the deposit and my surgery was set the very next day at 12pm. At no point during the Ruby consultation did I feel rushed. After talking to the surgeons at the other clinics, they literally ran out the room as soon as I said I had no more questions. The people at Ruby took their time with me and I got to spend ample time with each and every one of them. The thing I liked the most was how much they valued my satisfaction. I don’t think I would have gotten the same treatment at any other clinic. This made me feel comfortable to do my incisional double eyelid surgery, ptosis correction and epicanthoplasty at Ruby Plastic Surgery.Surgery I arrived at the clinic at 11am the next day having fasted for 6 hours prior. I won't go much into having my photos taken, cleaning my face, removing my nail polish etc, but I got to see Dr Lee twice more. Once in a private consultation room and another on the surgery table. On the surgery table he showed me again the 8-9mm crease he was going to cut and in the seconds I saw it, I absolutely loved it. As Dr Lee was marking my face and I was being strapped onto the table, my legs were shaking like never before. I'm sure I looked so stupid but I was such a nervous wreck. Daysi was by my side trying to calm me down and kept rubbing my legs to stop them shaking and I'm very thankful for her being by my side! Dr Lee was also checking on me whenever I winced during the surgery to ask if it was painful or not, but it wasn't painful at all, only uncomfortable/unpleasant to feel the tugging, pressing, stitching of my lids etc. He seemed to be very meticulous throughout the surgery, making sure everything was up to his standard and I was asked to open and close my eyes too many times to count.AftercareI returned to the clinic the following day for deswelling treatment. At this point, my creases were fairly asymmetric. One appeared parallel and the other appeared tapered. I thought this was largely due to the uneven swelling, so I would have to wait patiently to see the final (hopefully more symmetrical) results. I was also worried that the crease would be too low for my liking as my swelling wasn't super bad and I still had 6 months of deswelling to go through. But Dr Lee assured me not to worry and that it was cut at the height I wanted. I felt super relieved! Another deswelling treatment was scheduled for right before my stitch removal. Honestly, stitch removal was the most painful part of my entire double eyelid surgery experience. I braved through it, however, and couldn't believe that I had finally gone and done something I wanted for so many years. I was also given Daysi's whatsapp, and up until this day, she's been nothing but the sweetest, telling me to eat and rest well before surgery, checking up on me every chance she gets and overall just making my experience with Ruby so much more worth it. I never felt like I was 'forgotten' or 'discarded' right after the payment/surgery so in terms of the aftercare, I am sooo satisfied and would like to thank her for how incredibly kind and supportive she's been during my time there.I am almost one month post op and these are my eyes. The one in-fold and one out-fold is significantly less noticeable now I am further into my recovery. Surprisingly, I am not as fussed as I expected to be. I am satisfied enough with the difference that double eyelid surgery and ptosis correction have made to my eyes that I am able to overlook what has become a slight asymmetry. As for the crease height, I am still satisfied. Honestly, I have never felt so comfortable walking out in public with little to no eye makeup, my morning routine has been significantly reduced and I am so happy taking photos and actually looking awake in them (I've not worn eyeliner for a month by the way) My family and friends have noticed my new eyes straight away and I have been receiving compliments non-stop. I am so thankful to Dr Lee for making my first ever surgery such a pleasant and successful one. I am happy to share more photos, but via private message only. If you'd like to see or have any other questions, please kakao me. My ID is linacct Wishing everyone a successful plastic surgery journey!
versible
Hi Linacct! Thanks for sharing your story. I like your results and dr Lee seemed great.. And the consultant attitude as well. I tried to search ruby's website but it seemed broken down tho.. Aside from eyes do you know what Ruby is good for? Are they also good for nose/chin/breast? teeteetee
They're known for breast and eyes I've consulted there before but I had Becca, not Daysi. Does Becca still work there, Linacct?
linacct
Thank you versible! I agree with Teeteetee, Ruby are popular for eyes and breast. As for their website, they only have it in korean and chinese right now. I heard they are in the process of building an english one too. Oh and just to clarify, the consultant and Daysi are two different people!

teeteetee
Oh I see. I consulted for something else but I wasn't very happy with her so I just wanted to caution others if they happened to have her as a translator. She had a bob cut, reddish brown hair I'm really happy that things turned out well for you at Ruby though! All the best with the rest of healing. Your eyes look beautiful so far! lola159
Hey Lina, looks very good. Hope you recover well . May I ask, if they recommended anything fir you to deswell faster or heal faster?
linacct
Yes, you are given a prescription of anti-inflammatory pills, painkillers etc. which you have to purchase at the pharmacy on the ground floor, along with a free ice pack (can also be used as a warm pack). I took my medication 3 times a day for a week, applied the ice pack 2-3 times each day for the first 3 days then applied warm pack. I also bought myself some pumpkin juice at the pharmacy to help with the deswelling. Hope that is helpful
