littlepigeon Posted August 8, 2017 Posted August 8, 2017 After doing my research, I decided that 2 jaw surgery is too risky for my issue, which is a protruding mouth and short chin. I want to do ASO instead, but I heard some people were told by clinics they were not good candidates for ASO, and that they should do 2 Jaw instead. Does anyone know why? I'm worried they are recommending it because 2jaw is a more expensive surgery? I'm can't seem to find information on what type of patients are not suited for ASO. My question is specifically about fixing a mild/moderate protruded mouth. My teeth are straightened and I have not extracted any teeth before. Thank you for your help

littlepigeon Posted August 17, 2017 Author Posted August 17, 2017 Update if anyone is curious, The Face Dental told me that ASO can be substituted for 2-Jaw to fix a protruding mouth if there isn't a problem with the jaws or jaw asymmetry that needs to be corrected. They said the complications for ASO are the same as the complications for V-Line surgery.

fasi Posted September 7, 2017 Posted September 7, 2017 R u done with ur surgery please share ur experience ,I also have same problem,one hospital told me they Ll move the whole chin forward n it Ll help lesson the protuted upper lip n shorten chin , But then still I need to have braces as I want my upper lip area to settle down properly , So now I m thinking to have two jaw lower jaw advancement n upper jaw they Ll remove teeth cut the jaw n stich them so no braces afterwards n I Ll get the result what I want . The big question is which hospital? I have seen they r sitting to rob u ,very high prices for foreigners , Please u also share the info u got n all other who got two jaw surgery done , Pros n cons How many days do v need to stay Which techniques n procedures r good, Payment plans Best quotes etc

littlepigeon Posted September 7, 2017 Author Posted September 7, 2017 I haven't gotten any surgeries yet. I did hear there is a lot more information about ASO on Chinese internet. Personally I decided I probably am just going augment my chin instead to make the protruding mouth less obvious, since my chin is weak and makes it look worse. There is still serious nerve complications to ASO even if it's less risky than 2-jaw so I am going to try to avoid any surgeries that cut the bones.
