upintheair Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 I'm going to South Korea in a couple of weeks. One of the procedures I was planning on having done is Stem-Cell Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation. This is similar to a fat transfer breast augmentation with a twist. No matter how the fat is extracted there will be fat cells that are damaged which makes them more likely to die and just not able to stay where it was transferred. Apparently adding stem-cells increases the viability of the fat cell and thus increases its ability to stay put (which is the whole point of breast augmentation). So far, the only clinic I've come across that does this procedure is Fresh Plastic Surgery. However, I recently found out that their doctor, Dr. Jong-Hyun Hong is not a certified plastic surgeon. He's a medical surgeon. I'm sure for everyone considering plastic surgery, not just in Korea, but anywhere has heard the advice to ensure that you go to a certified plastic surgeon because everything depends on the skill of the plastic surgeon. I'm not saying that this doctor is not qualified or extremely skilled. However, the outcome of plastic surgery is somewhat risky and I'm concerned that having plastic surgery performed by a medical surgeon vs a certified plastic surgeon may only be increasing the risk of not having satisfactory results. I've done every combination of internet searches, but only Fresh comes up. I've contacted the Korean Medical Tourism information Center, but they were apparently unfamiliar with this procedure because they gave me the contact information for a Stem-Cell center that doesn't perform plastic surgery. I tried researching Dr. Hong, but the Korean Medical Association doesn't provide any information about doctors. So, now I'm in a conundrum. How do I find a doctor that performs this procedure, who is also a board certified plastic surgeon or do I take my chances with the medical surgeon at Fresh. The reviews for this doctor and his clinic are minimal and mixed. Has anyone been to Dr Hong at Fresh? What was your experience? Were you happy with the results? Would you recommend them? Thanks!!
maliboo Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 i would say be smart and don't do it with someone who is not board certified. it's not worth taking the risk of ****ing up your body. try to find someone who can search results in korean/chinesw and maybe you'll be able to find reviews for fresh or dr hong on babitalk or soyoung. good luck!
cute_lil_fiend Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 Did Fresh tell you that you'll need at least 2x fat transplantation procedures at $5000 a pop, for a total of at least $10000 in order to achieve good retention volume for fat graft breast augmentation? Because they mentioned this to me. Fat grafting large volumes is still quite a tricky thing, even for the most skilled of plastic surgeons. The best results I've seen for breast fat grafting come from surgeons based in the US.
k-couture Posted August 30, 2017 Posted August 30, 2017 hrm i still have my doubts about stemcell fat graft. I suspect the survivability is fairly similar stem cell or not after speaking to different plastic surgeons. No surgeon has ever suggested stem cell fat graft survivability is at 80-90 percent mark. Most suggest 50-60 retention rate which is similar to ordinary fat graft. Also you gotta remember the type of stem cell used is likely MSC stemcell. It won't make much difference. Additionally, the stemcell that they tend to extract in Korea is from the patient's own fat. Sound familiar? So they are adding stemcell from the fat graft which already exists inside it........................to me its more marketing than anything. I'll be doing my BA soon but i gotta wait a few months since I just did my bbl. Using anatomical implants
ft1212 Posted August 30, 2017 Posted August 30, 2017 What about PRP stem-cell? Is it also a gimmick more than anything?
upintheair Posted August 30, 2017 Author Posted August 30, 2017 No!! They failed to mention that. However, at this point it's moot because I've decided I'm not willing to risk going to someone who isn't a certified plastic surgeon. It's risky enough as it is. Thank you for the heads up.
k-couture Posted August 30, 2017 Posted August 30, 2017 oh that's even more of a gimmick. don't bother with prp. just save your money and do the regular fat graft. Also, it is quite easy to get lumps on your breast after fat graft, much more so than the face. Hong from Fresh is not a medical surgeon. He is a General Practitioner. This means he is no different from the doctors you see when you have a cough. In korea General Practitioners can do minor surgeries like lipo and fat graft. Nothing else. But for the breast you should go to a breast specialist. You should get a mamo first BEFORE you even do the fat graft to the breast. It is highly important as it will ensure your safety because then the results and the way the specialist reads your scan will be accurate. Its for preventative breast cancer in future pretty much. You should also find a breast specialist who knows how to use the endoscopic method during actual augmentations. Those are surgeons who have far more knowledge in breast anatomy.
astrid07 Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 I was surprised that Dr Hong is not a medical surgeon but I contacted with Fresh PS and they said Dr Hong IS medical surgeon not general practitioner. They said they will show me his license when I visit Fresh. I was so stressed because Fresh is on my list....Is there any one got fat grafting at Fresh recently?
cute_lil_fiend Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 He is a surgeon, just not a certified plastic surgeon.
k-couture Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 of course he has a license to do surgery. He needs to in order to even do minor procedures. But there is a reason why he is not able to perform rhinos, facial contouring, lifting etc. Because he is a general practitioner with the license to do minor surgeries. In korea general practitioners can legally do small procedures like lipo and fat graft as long as they apply for the license to do so. That doesn't make him a medical surgeon. In fact there's no such thing as a medical surgeon. Its just a dodgey way to skirting around the subject. WhaA medical surgeon, if we use the right terminology, would be a General Surgeon, which means they are gone through extensive training in their university education to their internship to their residency to their attending to perform general surgeries, such as appendix removal. Don't let them confuse you like that. He is a general practitioner with the liscense to perform minor procedures, not a medical surgeon or correctly, a general surgeon. Its vastly different. I think doing lipos is not a big deal since the government allows general practitioners to do it since its fairly simple. However, fat grafting to the breast is more intricate and should be done by a breast augmentation specialist. Even an ENT doing that procedure should have one thinking twice
theotera Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 Hi I totally agree. I was at first excited about going to Fresh but decided I will wail a little and go to Dr Bednar in the US. He has consistently good results on real self.
pinkbunny21 Posted December 4, 2017 Posted December 4, 2017 Hi, does anyone have reviews for FAT TRANSFER TO BREAST? I am thinking of doing this next year. I did a fat transfer to face in March 2017 and am very pleased with the results. I have lost quite a bit of fat back, but I have also been eating better and losing weight so I might have just lost weight ALL over. Anyway, because I'm quite pleased the fat graft to face, I am considering fat graft to breast.. Has anyone on this forum done this procedure before?
k-couture Posted December 4, 2017 Posted December 4, 2017 a couple of my friends did it before. Everyone ended up using implants a year later because initially the results are good. But after a few months the breasts goes back close to its original size after resorption. One of them did it at JK using stem cell. Paid about 16-18 mill i believe and it still resorped. However another friend did a combination of implant + fg because the gap between her nipples were wider. She did it in feb and it still looks amazing but when i asked my surgeon he explained that its because the graft is transplanted to the inner corners which can more survivability. Also the amount used for create natural cleavage is not that much hence with the grafts less compacted there's less fighting for blood supply. But if you graft it for the entire breast survivability is low for the said mentioned reasons
peonyandi Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 I did a fat transfer to breast along with a breast implant early this year in April. The doctor told me that usually in the first round of fat transfer only about half of the fats will retain, and the rest of the fats will be reabsorbed or broken down, depending on your body’s metabolism. He told me to go back to do a second round of fat transfer within the next three months, and he said that usually the second round the fats will not be absorbed as much and will give better results. The fats that was transferred to my breasts were almost 75% gone after 3-4 months because I am a fitness addict who works out intensely 5 times a week (except the one month right after the breast procedures) so I suppose my metabolic rate is pretty high. Now all the fats that were transferred seem to be entirely gone but I am happy with my current breasts size and results though and will not be going back for the second round of fat transfer. From what I was informed, it seems that the results for fat transfer to breast is very dependent on the body’s metabolic rate in breaking down fats. I heard that most girls who did fat transfer alone without BA end up doing BA in the end. And multiple rounds of fat transfer (with no guaranteed amount of fat that can retain) may turn out to be more costly, whereas with a BA you pretty much know the size you’ll end up with. I do think the fat transfer is good to complement a BA though, it can help to make the whole result look more natural.
catelet Posted June 8, 2018 Posted June 8, 2018 How are you feeling @Peonyandi about your fat transfer to breasts now? I have been reading up on this and it's becoming much more common--I'm seeing a lot of satisfied reviews of it, in the U.S., SK, and elsewhere as well. I had my implants removed a few years ago and I'd like just a bit more fullness that I think fat would be perfect for.
