Not sure if this is necessary to ask, but I'm aware of the astronomically difficult recovery process regarding double jaw surgery. GNG Clinic among other clinics suggested double jaw and genioplasty when I inquired about mini v line. I never thought I'd even be a candidate for that!

Thanks to this, I started to do tons of research regarding double jaw and realized that I have so many symptoms that I hated aesthetically, and didn't realize there was a name for it. It does affect me in minor ways, such as mouth breathing and sleeping/concentration issues, but I thought that was a result of my other issues haha.

I realized BEFORE this that I could have either a deviated septum or some kind of nasal passage problem, as my left nostril is always a tad more difficult to breathe out of and noticeably smaller than my right. I can also see a slight curve in my nose that I always thought was just aesthetic and a result of my very squishy and flat nose (I've always seen deviated septums on non east asians so it was difficult even figuring this out lol.) Having had sinusitis really often as a kid, it's not completely out the question that this would cause me to mouth breathe, and thus, develop a weird facial structure.

I preface with all of this information to say that I actually do have misalignment issues, BUT they're pretty minor compared to the serious photos we see online, so I never paid much mind to them.

I am dead set on doing some sort of lower facial contouring but double jaw is pushing the (high) limits in regards to how much I'm willing to do lmao.

I'm planning on getting a rhinoplasty anyway and I feel like a genioplasty would at least help to reduce the mouth protrusion and get a more shapely chin, as well as cheek fillers or fat graft.

Heres the thing: double jaw is tempting but I don't have SUCH a severe overbite that would constitute me deeming it some sort of medical necessity and not many people other than a professional would guess it was due to a facial """"deformity"""" due to mouth breathing. I HATE my lower face, but idk.

To all of those on this forum who got double jaw surgery, who weren't a severe case–was the crazy recovery process worth the results? How WAS your personal recovery? How are the risks? Where did you go and which doctor did you choose? What should I look for when researching double jaw surgery (should there be an orthodontist, etc...) Will they ask that you get braces in your home country or something before getting the surgery? I'm so conflicted right now!

Have you came to a conclusion yet? I feel like you should consider ASO if you don't want something as extreme as double jaw but want to fix your mouth protrusion.

Hey @csolare , I talked to @szechuandippingsauce throughout her 2jaw surgery recovery, and you can read her post about it. I think her conclusion was that the long and painful recovery was not worth it if you don't have a serious condition that you need the surgery for. I think for you its also smart to be conservative, especially if you didn't want the surgery going in.

I’m going to avoid double jaw but probably do genio and some chin shaving. I don’t want a v line and I quit like having a jaw angle but mine is a bit lantern jaw ish so i dont want to lol bulky after surgery ;~(

I think so too! I’m going to hope sliding genioplasty and slight chin shaving can help me achieve the look I want haha.

I’m debating this same question, is all the pain and months of recovery going to be worth it for the aesthetical reasons? I guess I’ll find out after my 2 consultations next week in Seoul.
