Hi everyone!

I just wanna share my experience with my revision rhinoplasty after 2 weeks of my surgery. Thanks to this forum, I have learnt so much about plastic surgery. You guys are really helpful. Now it’s time for me to help those who are consider doing rhinoplasty in Korea. So I have done a lot of research for the past year, I narrowed down JW, Bangnobagi, ID and JK. I tried to reach them but it’s very hard to communicate with them thru kaokaotalk because they are always very busy. I actually had my mindsets with JW but then I did a little more research and found out some more clinics, which are GNG and April31. These two are newer than those 3 clinics but recently they have a lot of good reviews so I just wanted to give it a try. I sent them messages. They both actually really slow at responding so if you don’t see them getting back to you after couple hours, just wait for the next day or ask them again. Although April31 is pretty good for revision rhinoplasty but I didn’t have good impression when they did online consultation. They didn’t even tell me any advice but started with a line “your revision will start at 8mil.” It’s really a turn off so I decided to not talk to them after that. Other one is GNG, I chat with Hazel, and she answered all of my questions that I asked but still slow. It does like you ask today and she will answer the next day. I guess it’s because GNG doesn’t have enough English translators. Anyways, after online consultation I did not rush myself to put down my deposit for any hospitals. I just wanted to see more and more reviews on these hospitals. Apparently, so many folks here started sharing their good experiences with GNG, which made me decide to go with them. Moreover, GNG had a lot of male patients, so I think I can trust them to do my rhinoplasty. Some more reasons to let you guys consider going with GNG:
  • Affordable price
  • Popular local hospital (so many Korean patients whenever I visited the hospital)
  • One night hospitalization after surgery
  • Airport pickup
  • Hotel pickup before and after surgery
  • Natural results
So I sent them my deposit by wire transfer in July and set up a face-to-face consultation in November. Right after that, Hazel started chat with me faster and faster.

At this time, I decided to do one more thing: DES. My eyes are naturally double eyes lids but it’s not symmetrical so I wanted to have doctor make them look better. Just so you know, if you do multiple surgeries, you will get a little more discount. My rhinoplasty will be with Dr. Seong and my eyes surgery with be with Dr. Kye.

I kept chatting and asking questions with Hazel until I came to Seoul. Unfortunately, there is a small change one week before my flight. I booked Dr.Kye but he left the hospital for personal reason. GNG replaced Dr.Park for my eyes surgery. I was unhappy about it but GNG told me they can do refund for me if I wished. However, I spent a lot of time to research about Dr.Park. He also has good reputation and experience on eyes surgery. There are many articles on Naver about his work. So I didn’t change my mind and went with GNG for both eyes and nose surgery.

First day in Korea:
I arrived Seoul, GNG arranged a taxi to pick me up at Incheon Airport. I went straight to the hospital for my consultation with Dr. Seong and Dr. Park. At GNG, I met Julia instead of Hazel. She made me feel less tired because she is very good at commutation. I laughed all the times whenever I talked to Julia! She totally changed the hospital environment to another level. Trust me, you wouldn’t feel nervous or frustrated when she is with you. Before meeting with two doctors, I needed to get my before photos, my CT scan, Xray taken and my blood tested. If there is something comes up, they will let me know the day after.

While I was waiting to meet Dr Seong at the lobby of consultation floor, I saw so many guys coming here for rhinoplasty. The waiting room was full of Korean patients. This made me feel like this is my right choice. I am surprised because they have a lot of patients but they still do a good job with helping each patient step by step. Their workflows are very smooth. At least, I didn’t feel frustrated since I came here by myself to get all of these procedures done. Finally, Julia took me to Dr Seong’s room; he explained every question that I asked him. He also illustrated on a screen to show me how he would perform my nose. I know he was very busy but he didn’t rush me at all. I felt very comfortable after discussing with him about what I like and what I don’t like. After I left Dr. Seong office, Julia took me to Dr.Park’s office. I actually wanted to do so many things with my eyes but I ended up doing non-incision double eyes lid. I only need to get my left eye done because my right eye is already good. And Dr Park didn’t recommend me to do anything else since he said I don’t need to spend too much money on things I don’t have any problems. I guess it’s a good thing to hear, isn’t it?

Everything was all set, I met with a sale consultant to finalize my payment and sign my consent form. Since I do multiple surgeries, GNG quoted me a good price. It’s quite affordable. Also, you guys get rhinoplasty at GNG, they will offer you staying at hospital one night and of course, nurses will take care of you until you get discharged. Speaking of payment, it doesn’t matter if I am paying credit card or cash, I will get a 8% refund at the airport. GNG will help me to do tax refund document. I just need to take that paper, find a kiosk and get my tax refund. It will be in cash. I finished everything in 2 hours. Julia booked a taxi for me to get back to my hotel. She also asked to fasting 8 hours before my surgery, which means I cannot drink and eat anything for 8 hours.

My procedures:
1. Eye: non incisional double eyelid (only right eye)
2. Nose:
  • Silicon implant with donated fascia on the bridge (for those who hate to see the outline of the silicone, you should do this)
  • Septum cartilage and ear cartilage on the tip
  • Alarplasty
  • Septoplasty + turbinoplasty (functional)
Surgery day:
GNG arranged a taxi to pick me up at my hotel at 9:30 am. When I came in, Julia brought me to an individual room, I got to change my clothes to hospital scrub and put my belonging into a locker inside the room. It is also my recovery room for that night. After that, I met two doctors again for one final time in order to confirm with them how I want my nose and my eye look like. Before I got into surgery room, I was guided by Julia and other nurses to go inside a room that they call air shower. I felt excited because finally it’s happening haha. My surgery started at 1:00 pm. I was put under light sedation first because I needed to open my eyes for my eyes surgery. I remember I still joked around with Julia when I was lying down but after 30 mins later, I was asleep and I didn’t remember anything. Julia told me because I moved so many times they had to tie me like a prisoner hahaha.

After surgery:
I woke up around 6:00 pm. I felt really dizzy. My mouth and throat were so dry and I couldn’t even speak. I was not allowed to drink any water until 7:00 pm. To help me prevent swelling, I was provided with some kind of oxygen and LED treatment before Julia took me to my recovery room. I wished I had more money to ask them put me under oxygen tube and that LED everyday because my face got swollen like a balloon right after I got discharged lol. At 8:00 pm, Dr. Seong stopped by my room and asked me if I was okay. I didn’t say anything but nob my head to let him know I was okay.

Aftercare:
I got some water at 7:00 pm but it was not enough because my throat was still dry and painful but I couldn’t drink too much water because my nose was blocked by two nasal packings (which help me to catch all of my blood and mucous.) If I drank more water, I would choke myself so I stopped. I was provided pumpkin soup and ice pack but I didn’t finish pumpkin soup because my lips got swollen and numb. I ate like a cat so I gave up. I don't know why but didn’t feel hungry at all. All I wanted to do was lying down and sleep. I remember I went to pee. It was so painful. I swear to god I didn’t want to pee anymore. In the middle of the night, I had another oxygen and LED treatment. The nurses couldn’t speak English but they are very nice and helpful.

Day of discharge:
I couldn’t sleep for the whole night because I wasn’t able to breath and I had to keep drinking water little by little. On top of that, the bed is very small and short, which made my back hurt so bad. I literally counted every minute until I got discharged. At 6 am, the nurse came in and asked me if I wanted to eat but I said no, I didn’t want to because I was not hungry. Julia came around 10:00 am. She brought me a package of medicine, pumpkin juice, eyes cream, nose cream, and ice pack. She explained carefully everything and wrote down how many times I had to take medication and how many times I have to use those creams. After that, she booked a taxi sending me to my hotel.

1st and 2nd day post op:
I couldn’t sleep at all because I couldn’t breath. I regretted about doing this (I changed my mind after couple days because I looked so much better haha)

My face started getting swollen and bruises so bad. The 2nd day was the worst day of my post op journey. It was a combination of the swelling and mucous blood build-up plus pressure around nose and eyes internal structure. This explains why my tears dropped like a river for the first 2 days. I stayed with a friend whom I connected in this forum. She had everything done perfectly before I came. So she said she would take care of me those days. It can be traumatizing to see how bad I look post op and having a friend around me helped a ton.

3rd day post op:
I was so happy on this day because I thought I finally could breathe normally because they would take the nasal packing out of my nose. Unfortunately, after they removed those, there was still silastic - an internal splint. I still HAD TO breath by my mouth for another 4 days.

7th day post op:
This was the best day of my life. Although my face and nose were still very swollen, I still got some bruises under my eyes but I knw I finally could breath normally by my nose. That’s why I was very excited to go to the hospital this day. Finally, I met Hazel. She was sick before I came so we couldn’t meet each other. By the way, Hazel is so beautiful lol. She is Korean but doesn’t have that typical Korean look. Trust me, if you are guy patients, you will keep looking at her during the visit. Haha. The nurse carefully removed my stitches and the internal cast in my nose. They treated me like a baby J Right after she took those out of my nose, I literally felt so relief. I finally could breathe and smell normally. Hazel took me another room to take “after” photos and met Dr.Seong. He said my nose looks really good now. I need more time to wait for all of swollen go down. To be honest, I really like how my nose changed but the only thing I don’t like is my nasion (the top part of my nose) because it looks very high and fake. However, Dr.Seong explained to me because I want a natural look of the silicone so he had to use a special material (I don’t remember what it’s called) to wrap around my silicone. After 3 months post op I won’t see any line on my nose but swollen will be worse and longer than any other parts of my nose. Dr Seong kept asking me if I had any questions for him during the last appointment but I didn’t have any questions because Hazel and Julia explained everything in details. After that, I was given oxygen and led treatment to help reducing swelling. Also, I got a voucher for hair washing service. It is not in the hospital but very close. Julia printed a map and showed me how to get there.

Overall, everything meets my expectation. I am so happy with my choice. After I discharged, Hazel and Julia always helps me no matter days or nights. Whenever I asked them something, they would answer and assist me right away. I had a hard time to order food because I do not know Korean so I had to have them order food for me. They were willing to do it without any complaints. They are both really good at English (compared to other clinics that I have visited for my jaw surgery) I don't have any problems communicating with them. Dr. Seong specializes in rhinoplasty. He is the best! I would highly recommend him for rhinoplasty.

I am currently in 2 weeks post op. One of my friends who did his nose in GNG told me that I should not judge my nose for the first 2 months because it will gradually change everyday but to be honest, I love my side profile. It looks so good. I am kinda unhappy about the front view because my nose is still very swollen. Like I said, the top of my nose is too big. It is like a tube from top to the bottom. I really hope it will improve over time.

PS: I am currently in 21th day post op. The major swollen goes away. I like my nose a lot. Front view has been improving so much this week. I don’t know how it will look like in 2 months. But to be honest, I am really happy now.

You guys help me through this experience in the past. I would love to help anyone that is in the same situation so do not hesitate to message me! I will try my best to respond you guys whenever I have time!

May I ask how much were the nose procedures separately? Also, if you can send me the before and after results it would be nice  I'm also thinking about GNG for my nose.

hi if I'm going there for consultation in january and do you mind showing me before and after pics please.

I put down my deposit in June. So this is their price:
Bridge augmentation + tip plasty 4.5 million korean won
Alar plasty 1.5 million korean won (700,000 korean won if done with rhinoplasty)
Donated cartilage 500,000 - 1 million korean won(optional)
Revision +500,000 korean won
But they said they will have new price for next year. I think if you decide to go with them, you should book now.
Can you please pm me? I will send you my b/a photos.

They give you oxygen therapy + LED while you are hospitalized too? thats impressive! i thought they just let you sleepthere.
do you think it helped you with your recovery? I am really worried about bruising and swelling after nose surgery. Do you think two weeks will be enough time for the bruising to have all been gone??

would you recommend putting down a deposit? were there any perks? debating if i need to or if theres realistically enough flexibility to go and check around

I wouldn't say putting deposit is risky, if you want to change / move date of the surgery and put deposit already you can easily make it by notifying hospital staff via email / kakao / phone etc., but have to be some time in advance (better couple of weeks before planned date). That's what they told me.
So it's safer to put deposit and change date later, otherwise it can be fully booked for the needed date.
I've heard doctors in GNG perform 3 operations per day maximum.

The KCA has guidelines for deposit refunds, but whether all clinics adhere to this is questionable from the stories here. I do agree that if you absolutely are sure you want to go to a certain clinic then paying a deposit is a good idea. If not, then better not risk any discussions on whether you get the deposit back.

The Korean Consumer Protection Agency deposit refund guidelines are:
  • More than 3 days before your surgery, you are entitled to 100% of your deposit.

  • 3 days before surgery, you are entitled to 90% of your deposit.

  • 2 days before surgery, you are entitled to 50% of your deposit.

  • 1 day before surgery, you are entitled to 20% of your deposit.

  • Canceling on the day of surgery, you forfeit 100% of your deposit.
