Hi everyone!
I wanted to write my review for DA plastic surgery. I had genioplasty+ shaving the sides of the jaw + nose fillers.

originally I had visited two other clinics for consultation, but i preferred DA because they gave me a fair price and I knew Dr Lee specialised in FC. Dr Lee was very honest about what he thought I needed. Originally i had planned to get zygoma + sqaure jaw reduction+ nose fillers, but he insisted that i didnt actually need to reduce my zygoma as there wasn't much there to begin with, and just needed to move the chin forward and shape the sides of the jaw. The other places recommended zygoma reduction+ vline+ fat grafting + rhinoplasty. I didnt ask for all those extra surgerys and felt like they were kind of pushing it on me so that was another reason i decided to go with DA.

When I arrived the staff were all friendly and I was greeted by the English translator who was very nice and helpful. She was with me throughout the whole consultation process and gave clear instructions on what I needed to do such as go for CT + take some photos. During consultation, I met Dr Lee. I heard so many good things about him, but I didn’t expect him to be so young! He greeted me politely and although he isn’t good at speaking English, I felt like he understood what I was saying but I still had my English translator with me to ensure precise translation of what I wanted because I was very specific about the look I wanted.

I asked for a very very natural look. I didn’t want a sharp chin at all and I didn’t want to look like a doll. I still wanted to look like me, but not have my jaw so wide and one side was slightly lower than the other so it was slightly asymmetrical and I wanted it to be evened out. At first Dr lee recommended V-line, but I made it clear that I didn’t want to lose the connecting angle from my jaw to my ear because I feel like a v-line can look a bit fake? And I wanted more of a western/ strong jawline but feminine kind of look not like the Korean soft appearance. Dr lee understood what I wanted and suggested moving my chin forward as it was slightly recessed and shaving it to be more symmetrical and giving it a bit more shape but not sharp, still very natural. He also recommended shaving just the sides of my jaw to give it a softer appearance only to where the angle beneath my ear starts, to give me my desired look. I couldn’t agree more with what he said.

After agreeing on the procedure, We decided on a surgery day and then I went to have my blood tests and photos taken again all in preparation for the surgery. On the surgery day, I came in and was feeling a little nervous but I had one final consultation with Dr Lee, and he explained to me exactly what he was going to do to get the look I wanted and again ensured that he would only shave to the angle beneath my ear and keep my chin very natural. After that I wasn’t feeling nervous anymore because I was confident in his skills and what we had discussed.

After waking up post-op, I felt very swollen in the face and pain in my jaw. The nurses came and gave me some pain killers and then after a while helped me walk back to my recovery room where I stayed the night. During this time I had two drain pipes on both sides of my face that were connected to a bag, I wasn’t allowed to remove this until the morning after and the nurses came in every 4 hours to check up on me and empty the drainage bag. Unfortunately because of this I wasn’t allowed to eat until tomorrow morning either but even though I had fasted prior to the operation, I didn’t find I was that hungry. Probably because when I woke up the back of my throat was so sore and dry, which I was told may be a side effect of the aesthetic and having my mouth open throughout the whole surgery and because of the drain pipes and the fact that my face was so swollen, I wasn’t able to fully close my mouth so the pain in my throat was constantly there. The nurses gave me a bottle of water which I kept drinking to lubricate the back of my throat. That helped a bit, but I had to keep doing it so I was quite full on water and needed to go to the toilet every couple of hours. I didn’t get much sleep but there was a TV in the room, they let me watch that so I was kept entertained. In the morning they gave me a liquid drink for breakfast but I didn’t drink it all. Then we went back into the operation room where my drain pipes were removed and I had stitches put in.

This was probably the most painful part. You can feel when the drain pipes are coming out, its not too painful, just weird and uncomfortable. The stitches hurt alot. But it was over quite quickly and some of the pain killers were still being fed through IV so I didn’t really feel much pain after that. I was then given a script for some medication which I think were pain killers + antibiotics. I had to takes these for 5 days. I then had my IV line removed and was sent home with a little bag filled with salt water for gargling to make sure the stitches stayed clean, my script, and instructions for my next check up appointment.

I didn’t feel any pain in my jaw + chin during the recovery stage at all. Its more discomfort in the mouth where the stitches are and sometimes when I talked or opened my mouth to chew it would hurt a bit, so I decided not to talk to much or open my mouth very wide to let the stitches heal. I wasn’t able to Brush my teeth or hair for the first 5 days either so I felt really gross but on my first checkup I had a sterilisation treatment + light swelling treatment + shampoo which felt sooo good to have my hair washed! After that I was told that I could brush my teeth gently and eat soft foods.

During the second week, my face definitely become less swollen. I think because I did a lot of walking and the fact that the weather is extremely cold help lessen the swelling. Eating was difficult to be honest, there wasn’t much I could eat, except for soup and porridge but there isn’t a wide variety of soups to choose from. I found that everything I ate would get stuck in the sides of my mouth where the stitches were because I wasn’t able to properly chew and then this would cause pain around them and I would have to gargle a lot because I was scared they would get infected. But slowly I am able to chew and open my mouth a little wider.

My lower mouth + chin still feel quite numb but they told me this feeling will come back in a couple of months. The sides of my face are also still quite bruised, but this should also go away eventually. I had 4 checkups overall prior to flying back home, and on my third checkup I got my nose fillers done. This was quick but the injection was also quite painful  I teared up a little. Once it was done though I feel like I instantly look better! And the doctor even said that if I want more I can come back during my last checkup to get some more put in.

Overall I had a good experience with DA. The staff are all friendly and even though the swelling still has a couple of months to settle down I can already tell the shape of my face has improved greatly.
