tarius
Based on my research and on some of the comments i saw here, fat can be long lasting/semi-permanent/permanent with some few top-ups. But i keep on seeing comments that say fat grafts will get re-absorved over time or it has the same duration as fillers which they don't stay for long at all. I am a 20 year old male with a lot of sunken areas and i just couldn't afford getting fillers every 6 months so i opted with what i thought was a better option which is fat grafting. What is the truth, guys? Thanks in advance.
csolare
Fat grafting is the better option. You need top up after the first operation because fat absorbs ~40% each time. If you're ok with how you look 3 months post op, you don't NEED to go top up for a long time, depending on where you get the fat graft. Usually, people go for a top up and then feel pretty satisfied. Each time you top up, more and more fat stays. Therefore, you don't actually need to continue to top up for the rest of your life, unlike fillers which absolutely, without question, will need to be done every year at least. gats
You'll have to accept fat grafting is unpredictable, there's just so many variables involved from the surgical technique, area injected, to the patient him/herself. Given you have a lot of volume loss, I'd still opt for fat graft since you'd likely pay much more for filler to get the amount of volume you could add with fat grafting in Korea. Unlike filler, at least there's a chance the fat survives. You can always just go for top ups later. It doesn't have to be all or none either, you could touch up certain areas of your face with filler later if needed and you'll need less assuming the fat has survived in other areas. tarius
I see. Because i just waned to know which was the truth as i have seen few commentators who had 3 sessions already of FG and none retained. So it is really possible for the fat to stay permanently, right? Another question is, i am trying to build my average body but i haven't start going to the gym yet. If i do the Fat Graft now, would i have to wait for 3 months before working out so that it wouldn't affect the outcome of the fat?
csolare
Those people may just have bad luck because that typically doesn't happen haha. Everyone retains fat differently! Some fat will definitely stay "permanently," provided you follow post op instructions and don't suddenly lose a ton of weight. Basically, it'll act like it's your own facial fat–If you lose 20 pounds, you can expect that fat to diminish just as quickly as the rest of your body. It's not recommended to work out after operations for at least a month anyway, so probably!
gats
Yes it's possible for some fat to survive, I wouldn't expect 100% though. And survival will be lower on some parts of your face more than others due to facial movement. Working out is good for your health, so I'd just start working out today for the new year. When/if you get your fat graft, you can stop for the recommended amount of time, I think it'll be 2 months max.
jade-stone08
I read Dr. Bernad reviews and survival rate is 50-70% averagely. @Tarius What kind of fat grafting did you get? stem cell or PRP?
