jambition Posted January 20, 2018 Posted January 20, 2018 Hello, I have been planning for my primary rhinoplasty at either TL or View but I am seeing a lot of reviews from people who have undergone revision rhinoplasty and was wondering: is it expected that you will have to have revision surgery within a few years of the primary? I understand it is common for BA every decade but how common is it for rhinoplasty? Thank you!
jambition Posted January 21, 2018 Author Posted January 21, 2018 Oh wow thank you @MissOrange ! I'm glad to hear that a good primary rhinoplasty will last quite a while. I have been following the TL PS reviews forum and came across Krod2017's post. I will definitely take her case into consideration.
paris619xx Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 So the reason why people get revisions is mostly because of infections and stuff? And that happens a lot? I thought silicone implants used for rhino these days are really safe and last permanently, because surgeons used to use goretex and others back in the days..
fh1fk23 Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 This is what I heard from many clinics, Does anyone know about it?
lioness15 Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 My mom's rhino lasted 40 years but she needs revision soon because her skin is thinning and I think the implant is too old, which causes a shrink wrapped effect. I got mine revised recently after 4 years because my primary rhino--L silicone implant was done poorly and it collapsed, causing severe asymmetry on my nostrils.
katietin Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 I think my silicon is fine just not happy with the looks!
tomie Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 Are infections a matter of the fault of the surgeon or just something that may happen regardless of precautions taken? I'm very worried about infections
perceval Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 I believe implants have the risk of causing infection no matter what, since it's a foreign object placed in [any part of the face/body]. Mainly if it's a silicone implant. Not necessarily the surgeons fault unless they are unskilled.
perceval Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 Hey so does rhinoplasty require you to make a decision between rib cartilage/silicone implant? Because when I asked my mom about her rhinoplasty situation she told me that she didn't do any of those things. Then again she had more than just a cosmetic surgery, it was more of a reconstructive surgery to fix her crooked nose that she broke at a younger age. She did have a slight hump (I do too) and had that shaved down.
kayart0803 Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 The reason why I am getting revision is purely cosmetic reason.. I'm not happy with the way it looks :/ Although i could tell that if I just stick with my current rhino, it would last many many years.. maybe even a lifetime. So that's the risk I am taking by undergoing the knife 2nd time around. FML.
