If the first picture is your eyes, than you should also consider a levator surgery. I remember a cousin of my friend also got blepharoplasty, but after the surgery her eyes lost the symmetry. She got her procedure done in HK but for revision she went to Seoul, and the doctor suggested to define the pupil, so now her eyes look much prettier. Will be waiting for your updates regarding the surgery and good luck!

@frozenqueen Thank you so much! Yes, first picture is of my eyes. I haven't heard of levator surgery so looked up the pictures and will mention it to the doctors tomorrow! It's just to make it look more symmetrical, right? I think the picture's angle and eyelash extensions made it look a bit off than how it normally looks though.

Hello! So I had my consultation on Saturday, Feb 10 with the three clinics and here's how it went!

A/N: My Korean friend called and made the appointment for me since the receptionists can’t speak English. When she called, they ask for name, purpose (consultation for eyes), phone number, date, and time. I made the three appointments an hour apart. On the day of the consultations, I had a Korean friend go with me to all of them.

1. Joseph's
The clinic opens at 9:30 so I made my appointment then because I figured if I arrive as soon as it opens, it’d quickly be my turn. However, I wasn’t the only one with this thought because the waiting area was already full by the time I arrived at 9:35! I was so surprised and I guess my inexperience with plastic surgery demonstrated that. The building is nice and new, everything was clean and modern. The receptionists were very pretty, but seem to have quite a ‘plastic’ pretty look to them, in my opinion. Even though the receptionists were nice, they didn’t seem nice upon first impression.

I arrived at the counter to check in and fill out a card with my contact info and what I’m here for. While waiting for my turn, they miscalled my name because the Korean staff wrote my name wrong because they had misheard it over the phone (despite me writing it in English and Korean for them on the check-in card). After half an hour of waiting, my friend asked the receptionist how much longer we’d have to wait, and that’s when we all realized they did call for me earlier but under the wrong name.

We went into the room to have the consultation with the doctor. He looks at me and uses a tool against my eyelids to see what the problems are and what to do. He recommended ptosis correction and forehead lift. I didn’t understand why a forehead lift was recommended with both, except that without it, I have a 20% if it sagging or the eyelids disappearing later. The consultation was quite quick and to be honest, I don’t remember much of what he said. Seems like he didn’t really know English as well. Everything just went by fast.

After consultation with the doctor, we saw the receptionist. You go over the price together and if I decide to go with the procedure, steps to take, and recovery process. Any further questions were asked and answered here, and to be honest, she was a bit more helpful and detailed than the doctor.

Consultation was free so we just left after, saying I need more time to think about it because I was really disturbed and confused about the forehead lift. I didn't expect that at all. I had done an online consultation before and they only recommended ptosis correction but I guess it's because they only judged from picture and not face-to-face.

2. S-Leaders
Before arriving, I actually received a phone call right at 10:30 (my appointment time) to see if I was on my way. I was running late since my first appointment took a while but they were understanding when we told them that we'd arrive a bit late. The building was a bit older and actually kind of sketchy looking lol. But as soon as you get upstairs to their floor, it’s very new and modern; lot more brighter than the previous one, which was quite dark. The receptionists here were very friendly. They were pretty and had a lot more natural look and feel to them.

I checked in at the counter and paid a 5,000₩ consultation fee. Next, I filled out a form with my details and the receptionist actually took a quick look at me and said she thinks the doctor will recommend ptosis correction and forehead lift for me. I then followed her to another room where she took pictures and videos of me. For the video, she would tell me when to open and close my eyes and recorded a 10-15 seconds footage.

After the quick recording, we sat for a few minutes before we went in to see the doctor. Right off the bat, he seemed a lot more nicer than the previous one. I really liked him because he took his time to explain and show us about my problems and the way to fix it. He was patient and easy to understand, even with my limited Korean. During his Korean explanation, he would throw in English words here and there to make it easier for me to follow along to the conversation.

It turns out, I have no eye muscles, hence why a forehead lift is recommended to go with my ptosis correction. At first, he would hold up his fingers and I'm supposed to look at it, but he saw that I wasn't doing it properly with my eyes. My eyebrows are also a bit heavier/lower(?) than average so it adds more of a sleepy look to my appearance. Also, due to my lack of eye muscles and ptosis, I don't look straight and actually look higher. To demonstrate this, he would make me hold the mirror in front of me and said to look for my eyes in the mirror but actually I couldn't see it! I need to lift the mirror higher in order to see my eyes. He also pointed it out in the video that they took of me that my eyes look up more. He also demonstrated that when I try to open my eyes bigger, I can't do it with my eye muscles; instead, I use my brow muscles. To show this, I would look at him and open my eyes wider. Next, he would put his hands over my brow muscles and I was to try to open my eyes wider. Although I'm straining and I think I'm opening my eyes wider, it turns out nothing was happening.

I could just do the ptosis correction, however, with the forehead lift, it would soften my features and improve the overall impressions and help me look straight more. Due to the lack of eye muscles, the ends of my eyes will be a bit droopier-looking later on. From the first clinic, my friend and I didn't understand the difference nor the need for a forehead lift since I'm young (I will turn 26 later this month!) and they probably just want me to spend more money. But at this clinic, he explained why a forehead lift is recommended for my case and it made sense. He showed picture and video examples of different cases so that we had more of a visual of the differences. (1) Someone who just needs ptosis because they have regular eye muscles; (2) someone with the same problems as me but just did ptosis; (3); someone with the same problems as me but did both ptosis and forehead lift. (2) still looks pretty, however, (3) looked a lot prettier and more natural-looking, which is what I want. The first clinic's receptionist actually told us post-consultation that doing the forehead lift will give me a more natural look. With the tools on my eyes and the pic/video examples, the doctor explained that without the forehead lift, I would still have a chance of looking sleepy and actually, I think it looked worst with the double eyelids because it would be heavier-looking on top of my eyes.

Consultation finished and then we sat with the receptionist and went over the price etc. This clinic is cheaper than the last one (1 million KRW difference) and asked some other questions we didn't get to ask. For the forehead lift, it would just be 2-3 less-than-1cm incisions in my hair so it won't be visible. We went over the doctor's schedule to see which dates and times were possible and talked about recovery time etc.

3. Oblige
When we arrived, I thought it looked more similar to my dermatologist's office. There was a sign that listed the price for skin procedures and it was pretty empty whereas the other two were full. I wasn't really interested in this clinic from the beginning because it was suggested by my friend's friend but I decided to go here anyway since I should do consultations at multiple clinics. It doesn't hurt to hear what the doctor has to say, right? I paid a 5,000₩ consultation fee and again, filled out the form. There was a receptionist who spoke some English. They were all pretty and nice as well!

We went in to see the doctor and it seems like he has the best English out of the three doctors. He was also very nice and polite. He only recommended the ptosis correction for me and that yes, while I do have sleepy-looking eyes, it can be fixed with just ptosis. Since I am young, I don't need a forehead lift (we didn't inform him that I went to two other clinics and that the other two doctors had recommended it). For a pretty looking eye, the iris should be 90-95% showing. However, due to my eyelids being lower and covering the top part, my irises are only about 70% showing, hence the more sleepy look. During the ptosis correction surgery, he said he would be able to shorten the levator muscle; I guess that's where the lift would be coming from.

Post consultation, went over the price and dates with the receptionists and with that, consultations were finished!

Conclusion
This may have created my bias but out of the three clinics that I made appointments with, I was already most interested in S-Leaders. It is one of the top clinics for DES in Daegu and someone had recommended the clinic to me. I had asked her if there was another clinic she'd recommend because I want to consult with more than one. She and many of my other friends and their friends had recommended Joseph's as well because it's another top and popular one. But from the three clinics and their websites, S-Leaders had a nice and updated page, with before and after pictures. There were a lot of reviews for it, too, on Naver. Overall...
  • Joseph's was too factory-like feeling for me since it was quick and there were so many people! It was constantly full the first hour they were open and I thought their look was a bit more plastic-looking. They were already full so I wouldn't be able to have the operation till March anyway.
  • Oblige felt like they were better with dermatology stuff and as it turns out, my friend did a Naver search and found that the doctor I consulted with, his specialty is more derma-related. The other doctor at this clinic is more skilled for surgery.
  • S-Leaders was also popular and busy but I really love that the doctor and receptionist took their time to explain it to my friend and I. I thought that the overall staff were friendly and I just I felt most comfortable here.
After the three consultations, we called to inform S-Leaders that I would like to go ahead with them. They were going on lunch break around then (luckily, so were we!) so they told us to come at 2 to fill the forms and 10% deposit.

When we arrived, I paid the 10% and we confirmed the date and time. They also write down the instructions for what to do before surgery but because I was a foreigner, the doctor had written everything down in English for me ahead of time! It was so nice and considerate of them. I think the doctor's English is actually better than what we thought but because my Korean friend was with me, it was probably just easier to say it all in Korean. My friend who went to consultation with me can't come on surgery day since she has work at the time. Receptionist say if I can come with a Korean friend, it'd be better because she (the receptionist I'm working with) isn't good with English. But, if I can't find someone, she'll use a translator or doctor. But my friend informed them I can understand Korean and she'll be on call so it'll be okay. Otherwise, Papago (Korean translating app) is good, lol.

My appointment will be on Feb 14th, 4:30pm! I'm super nervous because it'll be my first surgery and I'll just look different. I'm nervous that I won't like the way I look but I know it's something I want to do... I've been stalking this forum for a while and it's something I thought about since I was young. I'm now (almost) 26 years old and I have been living in S. Korea for 3.5 years. With all the advertisements, how can I not think about doing it? LOL. Hopefully the surgery will go well and the results turn out nice....

My procedure was on Feb 14, 2018! It finished at 7:30pm and I just laid in the room resting till 9pm with IV attached. Took a taxi home right after. I went back this morning, Feb 15, to remove my head bandages and to disinfect the surgery areas. I’ll write a more detailed post over the weekend! Happy Valentine’s Day and Happy Lunar New Year!^^

Hey babe, hope you're having a good recovery! Did you end up doing the forehead lift?

I had incisional, epi, and ptosis correction done almost 6 years ago and while I like my results, I still feel they are droopy and cover quite a lot of my eyeball. I want to fix my ptosis again but I'm thinking if forehead lift is what I need instead :/
