tarius
Hi, so is it safe to do the surgery without having braces prior to it? Because i read that you need to put braces BEFORE and AFTER Jaw Surgery. I have an Underbite and my teeth are a bit crooked.

perceval
I'm pretty sure from what I'm reading: From: https://orasurgery.com/corrective-jaw-surgery-how-long-will-i-have-to-wear-braces/ I hope that helps give you an idea, if not let me know. I have an overbite, and I'm thinking about this procedure. However, I'm not too sure if it'll be worth the pain and other complications that come along with it, as well as it giving me a "smaller face". Not really into that. Then again, since my issue is the overbite it probably will actually make my face just a tiny bit bigger, but it'll help my overall appearance. I don't know. I mean, when the average bite is closed, about one-half to two-thirds of the length of the bottom teeth should be visible. Every time I close my mouth it feels and looks like my upper teeth are covering more than what is normal, so maybe I do need this procedure since it's so severe. If not, I might just go with liners or braces to help me with my issue.
tarius
If braces truly should be worn before surgery, would you expect someone to go to korea and have braces prior to the first meet and check up of a Korean Surgeon? I doubt it. Or is it that they will have to tell you to get it now in korea and come back 18 months later for the surgery?
