Hi everyone!

I'm planning a trip to Seoul and I've booked consultations with several clinics about chin implant and genioplasty. Most of the clinics say they will take CT, some will take X-ray. However I don't think it's good for health to take repeated CT scans especially since I'll be visiting 6-8 clinics? Does anyone have experience with taking scans from clinic to clinic? I understand that a fee is usually charged to keep the scan files, but they all say that files from other clinics may not be compatible and therefore can't be opened.

Just wondering if anyone has experience in this regard. Are they just saying that to try to get me to pay for the scans at their clinic? Or are there actually compatibility issues? Would booking consultations through a service like DFK help with this process as well?

Thank you!

In my experience clinics don't charge you for the scans unless it's revision surgery. And I heard that there can be a compatibility issues because they all uses different program.. Why don't you aske clinics for an advice?

I totally understand and share your sentiment with multiple CT scans in one day. I just came back from Korea and out of my 5 consultations only 2 took CT scans. When you are here you can express your concerns with the clinic during your consultation. Online communication is tough because a lot of clinics have outsourced jobs to keep up with the demand and time difference. The consultant you’re speaking with may not directly work at the clinic, but more as a translator for multiple clinics so you may not get the most accurate answer.

Good luck!

Yeah, all of them are being vague right now. The answer is essentially "pay for CT if you want detailed consultation" but I don't know if it's standard practice for my case. Did you get a copy of your scans when you went for your consults and get to use them at other clinics? Thanks!

That’s very strange, I didn’t pay for any CT scan. I didn’t ask for them because I wasn’t sure what to expect at each one and if they did suggest a CT scan at the next one our plan was to deny it based on health reasons.
I think it’s just the difficulty of communicating online. It’s a complete 180 when you’re actually here. Though every clinic has a different feel to them, they essentially follow the same flow of events. My surgeon has been practing for 20+ years and didn’t use a CT scan for a very complicated rhinoplasty/functionality surgery. If you’re trying to avoid takkng multiple scans in a day I would just ask for a copy and say it’s for insurance purposes.

Hi, that's very comforting to know. I think because I'm asking about any charge for CT scans online they're telling me that there's a charge. Possibly because for my case CT scan isn't normally used and even though it provides "more detail" that detail isn't necessarily needed?

I will try to get a copy when I get there as you suggested. Hopefully it goes well, as some clinics through email were adamant about not providing a copy unless you have surgery with them, and not being able to use CT images from other locations
