List of Specialized Clinics?

Sorry to hear that. Where and when did you get your fat graft? When did the lumps first become noticeable? Did you have top up procedure to try and even it out? Any chance you can post a pic of your forehead as it's not often we hear about botched FG, most common complaint is the fat doesn't lasts which you probably wish happened in your case.

I got my forehead fat graft 3 year ago in my homecountry which is asian country but not korea. In my country plastic surgery isn’t that developed and there are few surgeons. I chose young surgeon who graduated in Korea thinking he would be skilled but I was wrong. On the 1st fat graft it was okay because almost 50-60% of the fat was gone. A month later I repeated the process to make the volume permanent and got the lumps as a result. I don’t clearly remember but not long after 2nd procedure lumps appeared, maybe a month later (soft parts dissolved, hard parts were left). Since I got 2 procedures and my forehead is full enough (it is so sickening that my forehead is really flat in the middle but puffy on the side parts with lumps) I couldn’t correct it with FG again. Now I only have a choice to liposuction it and redo the FG. I don’t know if you can see it clearly as I see but here are the photos.

@Yiseul, did he use stored fat saved from the first fat graft for your second graft? I think it will be difficult to fix with lipo since the forehead fat layer so thin, just a few millimeters, and lipo itself can cause dents in the skin. I would post these pics to realself to see what the docs on their would recommend, they may recommend steroid (kenalog, 5FU) injection or surgical extraction rather than lipo. Each of those poses its own risks as well. Please do post here when you get this treated as I will be interested to know the outcome, lumps are always a risk with fat graft so I'd like to see how well they can be treated. I hope you can find a doc in Korea who specializes in fixing cases like this. Good luck.

I guess it was stored fat since I don’t remember the surgeon extracting fat for the 2nd time. I hoped it can be corrected through laser or ultrasound assissted liposuction. If I touch my forehead, fat thickness feels like approximately an half centimeter. Even though you think lipo would be impossible???
I will be waiting for you to return from realself with surgeons’ opinions. And of course if I could correct it definitely come back here with my experience. I will make it happen though. If not I am gonna die of stress I guess.

Yeah my guess is the stored fat used in the second graft was mostly all dead since fat cells surviving that long in refrigeration isn't likely. You should ask docs on realself on their opinion if lipo would work. In my reply I meant you should post your pics and discuss your surgery history on realself, not that I would do it as that wouldn't be right for me to pretend I was you. I see something was lost in translation there so let me explain: for English if someone uses "I would..." in the manner I used it, the real meaning is to say "I would do this if I were you" not that I would actually do it myself for you.

Haha, for “I would” my English is fluent enough. I was just scamming, so misread that part I guess.
Yeah, what you’ve suggested is definitely a thing to do. So 1st I am gonna ask for specialists’ opinion on realself and after that I am gonna see my (it is so stupid to call him like this, I hate him xP) surgeon later with the proper knowledge about my situation. Anyways, thank your for your replies and kind suggestions.
Let’s see what happens on realself.

Here is a link that should better help you filter out qualified plastic surgeons in Korea. http://www.prskorea.co.kr/english/

Hey lovely,
Thanks for your helpful info. Never thought of ulthera bcoz it was for firming and lifting. But when I read the whole article from provided url of yours, I think ulthera can be one of primary options for my situation. I haven’t still seen the surgeon who grafted the fat in my forehead, so if his clinic pffers ulthera I will definitel go for it. Thank you.

@Kc_134 Thank you for your kind info. Sorry I didn’t check the thread.

To all: I would be more concerned and stressed out if you guys weren’t here for me. I feel like I am sharing my burdens with you so I am feeling much better! Thank you guys.

I would not limit yourself to relying on the surgeon who screwed up your fat graft to fix it, while you need information from him on what layer(s) of your forehead he injected into (under the muscle, under the skin, both?) I think you should see someone who has treated cases like yours before. Based on the realself link Hautelady shared, this sounds like it will be very difficult to treat so a specialist will be needed. Have you consulted with any Korean clinics yet?

Nope, not yet. I prefer to consult with Korean clinics in person so I would consult when upon my arrivel in Korea.
Yes, of course I am not gonna receive any surgical treatment or injections from the doc who botched my forehead FG. The reason I wanna see him is to make everything clear about my situation. Most importantly I wanna know if his clinic offers ulthera since it’s the first option for lump treatment. And also I wanna see him to tell that my forehead became like this only because of his experience, choices and he must be in charge of the cost that related to revisional or whatever surgery/treatment. If he doesn’t like my idea I will sue him. Anyways, I appointed a meeting with him on next Monday. Let’s wait and see what happens.

Even if he has ulthera, I would not use him even if it's free as he may be experimenting on you. Ulthera is very powerful and so in the hands of inexperienced docs, it could be destructive -- too much and it could sag your skin. So yeah, just ask him which layer he inserted and what would he do if it was his forehead. Then go to as many clinics for opinions. I hope you get this corrected but in the meantime, fringes and bangs could do the trick.

While he may agree to try and fix the lumps for free, I agree with Hautelady, you need to get opinions from as many clinics as possible before deciding what to do as it's a difficult problem to treat and the problem could become worse if he doesn't know what he's doing, for example ulthera can destroy good fat which could make your lumps even more prominent. Ask him what his treatment plan would be for your lumps, he should be the one to suggest the treatments rather than you saying "can you try ulthera" and him agreeing based on your request for example. Try to find a clinic who can provide before/after pics of patients similar to you for proof they have experience with your situation and to see their work.

Well, I don’t think I am gonna get bangs since I hate it. I have been showing my irregular forehead to “public” for 3 years now though. So I’d better just leave it.
I agree every single word you’ve said. I am not gonna let him do anything on me again. I will just see him to get an info about my FG and of course to make a deal about revisional surgery related cost.

Yeah, I agree with you guys too. I will never gonna let him do anything on me now.
I don’t know exactly when but in May or in Oct I will travel to korea for several procedures, and will be travelling to LA in Sep. During these I am gonna try to see every experienced surgeon as possible and find an answer for my situation. No worries.
I’ll let you guys know what happened after my appointment with the surgeon on Monday.

To both of you: You guys can’t imagine how grateful I am to you!!! You guys made me realize how serious this problem was and gave me a courage to see the surgeon with confidence. Nice to have forumpals like you.

@Kc_134 @Hautelady @Gats
Hey guys!!!

Today I went to see previous surgeon of my fat graft. He was quite cool during our whole meeting. He agreed everything I said, and even admitted his skill is not sufficient enough to correct my forehead. But he asked me to see his co-working surgeon from Korea who has 22 years of experience. He said that this surgeon would give me some more info, what method would work etc, and maybe could give Korean specialized surgeon names who can work on my issue.
Most importantly he accepted my request of being responsible for revision surgery cost.

So I am happy for now even though I have no idea about what will happen in Korea.

Thank you guys. I will come back for my revision surgery result later.
