Possible to get a straight nose without implant/cartilage?

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I am unhappy with my wide nose. It's not bulbous per se, but just wide. Is it possible to make my nose permanently straighter, and narrower without an implant or using cartilage?

I will be going to either ITEM, MVP, Opera for my DES+ptosis correction. So if I can do it in the same clinic, that would be great .In Korea for 10 days .Thanks!!

There are permanent fillers which are NOT recommended, The only thing i could think of is fillers but they are not permanent, they last a few months to a year + depending on the person. You can also look at nose threads, i think they are called "HIKO" which last about 2 years.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah fillers are not ideal to me as well. I just thought whether it was possible to get a nose job without an implant.

Have you done rhinoplasty? My concern is, my body rejecting the implant, the implant being infected or worse still, the implant coming out (I saw pictures of a Thailand botched surgery). Or having a child and him hitting my nose and breaking it. I’m not sure how the implant will look like when I’m 60. Lol.

No, i have never had rhinoplasty but i was interested and very close to getting. I did consult a few clinics and asked and almost all of them can do surgery on the nose base without implant, but some wouldn't agree to it without adding an implant. For me, i wanted to do upturned nose correction with alar reduction without adding anything to my bridge, so yes i would say it is possible.

I just googled some of the terms you used as I know nothing about rhino. Do I just ask for alar reduction and upturned nose correction?

Are Korean noses generally upturned? How much did the clinics quote? Sounds very promising, hehe. What stopped you getting it in the end?

Heyyy, yeah I think it’s possible as well. My mum also got a nose job ages ago, and she doesn’t have an implant. Her nose is skinny and straight. Her bridge isn’t high, like most Asians. But yeah, thanks for telling me that, I’ll talk to her later about it. Haha. Any plans on getting the surgery done?

Yep, planning to have most of my surgeries done after I graduate from college. I'm going to do facial contouring first and then go ahead and do my rhinoplasty afterwards. I'm pretty sure I'm going to have it at GNG, it's just that I don't want to use implant or rib cartilage for it. So since my mom didn't need any of those I'm thinking I should be okay without any of them. But if I have to choose between the two I'm definitely not doing implant.

You should definitely do research as i am not your consultant, i wouldn't know what's best fitting for your nose. It's very important to do research in my opinion. For my nose, i wanted to correct my upturned nose and reduce my alars. Most clinics quoted about 3million KRW. Your case might be different, so i would research a bit and consult some clinics of your preference. I didn't do it because i didn't want to go through the healing period.

Yeah my sentiments actually. Since my mum has a nice nose without implant or cartilage, i don't find the need to. I actually found this on misooda . http://misooda.com/m/promotion/item-plastic-surgery/magic-alar-reduction

Oh that's not what I meant, I just needed terms to Google for and for online consultations l:smile: yeah, I found a link for item clinic above that looks very tempting. The recovery shouldn't be more than a week, and if the stitches are done internally, healing should be good .

I'm assuming this is your primary nose job? For narrowing the nose if you want to narrow substantially and depending on your nose anatomy - u either get an osteotomy where the nasal bones are broken and set inward.... or sometimes a shave can be done if its a little bit of narrowing.

I don't know about the implant but usually its recommended if your bridge is low and wide (asian noses sigh) cos when u set the bones inwardly in the bridge gets lowered? Thats how I picture it lol. Like from "/ \" and you collapse them inwardly together they get inevitably lowered.

Maybe also consult with a nose specialist who does a CT scan, since you mentioned straightening the nose and there may be underlying functional issues causing the deviation.
