Wondermuffin Posted February 17, 2018 Share Posted February 17, 2018 Hi all, I am unhappy with my wide nose. It's not bulbous per se, but just wide. Is it possible to make my nose permanently straighter, and narrower without an implant or using cartilage? I will be going to either ITEM, MVP, Opera for my DES+ptosis correction. qt_qq13 Posted February 17, 2018 Share Posted February 17, 2018 There are permanent fillers which are NOT recommended, The only thing i could think of is fillers but they are not permanent, they last a few months to a year + depending on the person. I just thought whether it was possible to get a nose job without an implant. Have you done rhinoplasty? My concern is, my body rejecting the implant, the implant being infected or worse still, the implant coming out (I saw pictures of a Thailand botched surgery). I did consult a few clinics and asked and almost all of them can do surgery on the nose base without implant, but some wouldn't agree to it without adding an implant. For me, i wanted to do upturned nose correction with alar reduction without adding anything to my bridge, so yes i would say it is possible. Do I just ask for alar reduction and upturned nose correction? Are Korean noses generally upturned? How much did the clinics quote? Sounds very promising, hehe. Her nose is skinny and straight. Her bridge isn’t high, like most Asians. But yeah, thanks for telling me that, I’ll talk to her later about it. Haha. Any plans on getting the surgery done? I'm going to do facial contouring first and then go ahead and do my rhinoplasty afterwards. I'm pretty sure I'm going to have it at GNG, it's just that I don't want to use implant or rib cartilage for it. So since my mom didn't need any of those I'm thinking I should be okay without any of them. But if I have to choose between the two I'm definitely not doing implant. It's very important to do research in my opinion. For my nose, i wanted to correct my upturned nose and reduce my alars. Most clinics quoted about 3million KRW. Your case might be different, so i would research a bit and consult some clinics of your preference. I didn't do it because i didn't want to go through the healing period. For narrowing the nose if you want to narrow substantially and depending on your nose anatomy - u either get an osteotomy where the nasal bones are broken and set inward.... or sometimes a shave can be done if its a little bit of narrowing. I don't know about the implant but usually its recommended if your bridge is low and wide (asian noses sigh) cos when u set the bones inwardly in the bridge gets lowered? Thats how I picture it lol. Like from "/ \" and you collapse them inwardly together they get inevitably lowered. Maybe also consult with a nose specialist who does a CT scan, since you mentioned straightening the nose and there may be underlying functional issues causing the deviation.
