Online Consultation Experience (GNG, PS101, Dr. ParkJinseok, Teium)

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone, I'm from the U.S. and I just wanted to make this post to let others know of my current ongoing online consultation experience so far so those like me would know what to expect. This will also entail base costs given to me from some clinics!

Procedures Wanted: Revision Rhinoplasty, Primary Breast Augmentation (w/ areola reduction), Eye Surgery (do not know exactly what I need to fix my concerns with my eyes but I'm guessing its lateral canthoplasty, or lateral canthopexy). The eye surgery is optional, but I really wanted to get my nose and breasts done.

When?: Planning on going around end of June 2018, but didn't want to purchase plane tickets before confirming if the clinics I had interest in had availability to consult with me in person and also had surgeries slots open had I chosen to go with them.

Clinics I had in mind to consult with:
-Nose:
GNG, PS101 with Dr. Kwon
-Breast: Dr. Park JinSeok @ Park Jinseok Breast Aesthetic Clinic
-Eye: Teium, Kim's Eye Hospital

Platform used for contact: email first, than Kakao.

**I will update this later. Have to head to class.

GNG:
Overall, GNG has been the fastest clinic to respond to me. I contacted them through Kakao first, and that same night they responded back. Judging by the grammar, I'm guessing the person texting me spoke English as a native language because of his/her fluency.
*Will update slowly but surely.

Hi! I've also been considering doing my nose and eyes at the following clinics and am probably going there sometime in June as well so I thought I'll share the quotes I got so far.

I've contacted these clinics through Kakao for quotations on nose and eyes.

GNG is one of my top choices because I've read really good things about it on the forum and I haven't seem to have seen any bad reviews about it (if anyone else did, I will really appreciate it if you could link me to it). They quoted me 2 million KRW for alar reduction and epicanthoplasty at 1 million. The prices are apparently inclusive of medicine, airport car service, translation, pre-op health examination, post-op swelling and bruising care, anasthesia and doctor fee but it EXLCLUSIVE FROM TAX (copied directly from their kakao reply).
(note: After I showed them the pictures of the nose and eyes I wanted, they recommended doing the "whole nose and eye" instead. I am still waiting for their reply for what this entails and the price.

Topclass was honestly not one of my top choices at first because the reviews seem mixed on purseforum. However, the consultant - Olivia was really lovely. She was really prompt in replying and actually bothered to ask me for photos before quoting me the price. Similar to GNG, she also recommended for me to do more procedures for my nose (open rhino with silicone for bridge and septal cartilages for tip) and eyes ( incisional double eyelids surgery with epicanthoplasty) but she was not pushy about it. In fact, I asked her if I needed to do alar reduction and she said no. For those two procedures, she quoted me 4 million KRW for eyes and 5.5 million KRW for nose.

Item quoted me 990 000KRW for epicanthoplasty. They have yet to reply on rhinoplasty or advice any other procedure.

View was another clinic with a super friendly consultant - Haley. She quoted me 2 million KRW for alar reduction, 2.5 million for tip plasty and 1.5 million for epicanthoplasty. However, she didn't ask for any pictures of what I wanted or how I looked like.

I'm still doing more research and will update the prices as more clinics reply me. In the meantime, I would really appreciate anyone who has heard of these few clinics or who can suggest other clinics!!

Okay everyone! I'm sitting down and actually taking the time to write out the details! Let's start out with GNG.

GNG: I contacted them through Kakao (+82 10-5473-2035) February 12, asking them about doing an online consultation for a revision rhinoplasty for me. They responded about half an hour later asking me the type of implant that my previous surgeon used on me. Because of the time difference, I fell asleep and we continued talking the next day, February 13. They just asked me to send front and side photos so they would be able to go over recommendations on how to go forward with the revision surgery. It was Lunar New year, so it was crickets for around 5-6 days until they responded back on the 19th. After some questions back and forth regarding my previous surgery, they really went into full recommendation mode. Since there was a language barrier the last surgeon I went to, I couldn't confirm what type of implant they used on me, just that it was a close rhinoplasty. This is what they said, "If your nose tip skin is thinning, we will need to use skin/fascia graft to the area. Depending on what your previous surgeon did, there are many options." Finally, they recommended Dr. Seong (which I wanted because I heard he was the head of the department and provides really natural results!) Additionally I asked if they offered a procedure that would help reduce my scleral show for my eyes. They didn't touch base on that but instead recommended micro incision eyelid surgery for my upper lids, or non-incision based on what the specialist doctor thinks during the in-person consultation. Finally, February 20th they let me some extra information:
Base Prices*:
Functional Surgery: 2,000,000 KRW
Primary Rhinoplasty: 4,500,000+ KRW (includes nose bridge and nose tip)
Revision Rhinoplasty: 5,000,000+ KRW(includes nose bridge and nose tip)
Alar Reduction: 2,000,000 KRW as a standalone procedure (1,000,000 KRW as an add-on procedure)
Hump Reduction/Osteotomy: (1,000,000 KRW - 1,500,000 KRW)
Rib Cartilage: 11,000,000 KRW
Donated Cartilage: 1,000,000 KRW
Micro Incision Eyelid Surgery: 2,500,000 KRW
Non Incision Eyelid Surgery: 1,800,000 KRW
* : "Please note that if you are coming during the months of December - February (or long Korean public holidays), the price is subject to change for Dr. Seong. All prices are subject to 10% VAT.

My thoughts: Overall, I'm very happy with the online consultation thus far. I asked them some questions today but have not gotten a response yet, but they have been the quickest clinic to respond with practically no language barrier. They are definitely still in my list of clinics to consider for a revision rhinoplasty, but that all will be decided when I come in for an in-person consultation. I don't know how I feel about the eye surgery...my main concern is the scleral show but it seems that GNG only specializes in blepharoplasty since its more common. I might have to consider a surgeon specializing in oculoplasty (Kim's Eye Hospital). I've reached out to them today so I am waiting on a response back. Also, I listed the base prices they gave me here so perhaps a few of you find it useful to have an idea of how much financially prepared you should be when you embark on your medical tourism journey. I've seen some posts here that refuse to list the price they got quoted. Yes, the costs vary per person but I still get annoyed when they don't post THEIR price -- I'd just like to have a grasp on how much it COULD cost. Just my opinion, anyway.

I'll be sure to update with the other clinics soon! I didn't realize how much time it would take for me to jot down the details because I want to be as accurate as possible.

I visited Dr Park and Park Jin Seok's Breast clinic. I had a very positive experience with his clinic and the clinic manager is so sweet and kind.

Dr. Park also seems to be knowledgeable and fairly honest about what type of implants are best for the patient versus others that might push a certain brand. He speaks good English too which is a bonus!

Did you end up getting BA from him? And I agree! He's very welcoming and honest throughout the entire consultation process. I will be touching base on that very soon when I write about him!

Another update! Here is my online consultation with PS101.

PS101: On February 12, I shot Dr. Paik an email. For those of you wanting his contact info, it is [email protected]. That same day, he responded that his assistant Miss Song will be in touch with me. From there, I gave him my Kakao ID and waited patiently. Because of the lunar new year, I didn't receive any contact from her until February 18th. At first the KakaoID didn't have a photo so I'm thinking, "This is dodgy, what the heck." But that aside, she just wanted to schedule a consultation because PS101 is notorious for being booked for both consultations and surgery! I told her I couldn't make an appointment yet because I haven't arranged my flight plan, but I would get back to her on that. They don't offer online consultations, so she didn't even ask for any photos because all consultations must be done in-person, by appointment. I then inquired that if I ended up wanting Dr. Paik for my surgery, how soon would I be able to book it. Unfortunately, she said that I would be able to book the surgery 3 months after having an in-person consultation with Dr. Paik, as long as I pay a deposit to secure the date at least 10 days before surgery. Unfortunately that really turned me off, because I personally can't afford to fly to Korea for a consultation and fly again 3 months later for a rhinoplasty. He must be incredible, but I don't think I'll ever be able to personally experience his work. Another thing that really turned me off is that they do not supply before and after photos of their work. I don't know about you, but I just can't wholeheartedly rely on word of mouth. Miss Song said the only way I'd be able to see his work is through an in-person consultation.

Overall, I'm glad he has the recognition that he does on PF and through friends and family of his patients. However, it's just too cumbersome for me personally to get a surgery done with him because I can't afford the money nor the time to go to Korea twice. Even if I booked the surgery and consultation with the same day by paying a deposit, I still wouldn't be completely confident as I have no evidence of his previous work to go off on, and you won't be allowed to get a refund on the deposit should you decide to back out of surgery. If that's something you're willing to do, go for it. I hear he's great, but I'll believe it when I see it.

Base Prices:
Rhinoplasty Revision: 6,050,000+ KRW. (Miss Song says prices goes up after having a consultation) The base price is already high to begin with, and I definitely can't afford putting at least that much money into my nose.

I did not end up getting BA with him but noticed his clinic was full with pre-op and post-op patients while I was there. He recommended sub-fascia implant which isn't something I wanted. Other than that, he is a good surgeon!

Here is my consultation with Dr. Park at Park Breast Aesthetic Clinic.
Dr. Park: On February 12th I emailed Dr. Park ([email protected]). He responded for international patients he consults by email, Kakao, or WeChat. Additionally, he also provided three attachments which have general information about breast augmentation at his clinic. I contacted him through the KakaoID he provided me, but I didn't get any responses from him. On February 19th, after waiting but not hearing from him, I emailed him and he said that he would be in contact with me. Very quickly, I got a KakaoChat from what I presume is his personal KakaoID. We talked over the course of 2 days because of the time difference. He does not provide online consultations, but instead requires in-person consultation to be able to decide the implant type, the incision location, and the plane. I discussed with him that I am on a weight loss journey, and even though I've lost quite a bit of weight, I plan on losing 40 more pounds. He insisted that I should lose the weight prior to getting the breast augmentation, which makes sense to me because choosing a size at my current weight may not look proportionate to my smaller frame when I lose my 40 pounds. I also inquired about areola reduction, and he does provide that. However, since the breast tissue expands and swells with the augmentation, he heavily advises to wait until I've healed after the primary augmentation, see how I like my areolas with my new breast size, and to return to him to perform the areola reduction separately if I want it smaller. Otherwise, he says that I might have to have a second areola reduction performed later on if I choose to have the areola reduction simultaneously with my primary breast augmentation. He does not supply before and after photos of his work. At least, I didn't see any when I went on his website. I could be wrong. But, I was really confident in his experience because he is board certified in plastic surgery in Korea as well as a member of the American Society for Plastic Surgeons. His clinic also uses Vectra, which allows you to see a 3D virtual result of different implant sizes on your body! Overall, I really like this doctor! He's quick to be in contact with you, his English is spot on, and he's very patient in answering all of your questions.

Prices (I believe these are exact prices.):
Round cohesive gel: 5,800,000 KRW cash / 6,000,000 KRW credit
Teardrop: 6,300,000 KRW cash / 6,500,000 KRW credit
Bellagel: 6,400,000 KRW cash / 6,600,000 KRW credit
Motiva-Q implant: 7,800,000 KRW cash / 8,000,000 KRW credit
Motiva+Q implant: 10,000,000 KRW cash OR credit. Same prices either way for this implant.
**These costs include VAT of 8% as long as you're an international patient who stays for less than 3 months in Korea.

P.S.
He says if you're doing rhinoplasty, make sure that your breast augmentation consultation occurs before the nose surgery. He recommends to have the nose surgery done first, and then Breast Augmentation surgery can be performed when the nose packing is removed and the rhinoplasty surgeon gives him the OK.

Last one! This is going to be for Teuim for eye surgery!

Teuim: On February 18, I emailed Teuim ([email protected]) for an online consultation for my eyes. They respond quickly, but slow compared to the other clinics I have reviewed. Overall expect 1-2 days for them to respond to you! I sent them some photos, and they recommended Double Lid with Ptosis Correction (they recommend non-incisional) as well as Epicanthoplasty in order to get brighter eyes with a higher crease. Stitch removal would be on the 5th day, and no hospitalization is required. They said that booking a consultation and surgery should be done around 2 weeks in advance, but for international patients they would try to make an effort to do the surgery as soon as possible. They also listed links to their website regarding more information about the procedures they recommended me, and stated that I should stay for 7 days after my surgery for their post-op care process (stitch removal, wound cleansing). I didn't get to speak with the surgeon myself, but I was shocked they would suggest epicanthoplasty because I never thought I'd ever needed it. I already have a double lid, but my eyes could get bigger in my opinion. I was afraid with the epicanthoplasty my eyes would look too close together in the middle. However, after reading more about their epicanthoplasty on their website as well as looking at the abundant before and after photos, clients who have eyes with similar distance between them like mine look great with the epicanthoplasty procedure. Overall the results are very natural and the clients still possess their same racial features. I don't know how I feel about non-incisional procedures, as I'd like to guarantee my results will last long and not revert back to its original state after some time. This is the consultation so far, I haven't replied back to them because I think I have all the information I need. I think judging by their work I might end up choosing them, but that all will be decided once I have my direct consultation.

Base Prices:
Double Eyelid with Ptosis Correction: 2,500,000 KRW
Epicanthoplasty: 1,400,000 KRW
**If paying by credit card, you are subject to a 5% surcharge.

That's it! These are all the clinics that I have consulted with. If you have any questions, please private message me or reply.

101 is a local clinic and Dr. Paik is very well known and respected. He does speeches at conferences for rhinoplasty every year. He doesn't need to advertise, post pictures or sponsor anyone. He does one surgery a day and is booked literally months in advance.

Please remember that 15+ years ago, there weren't forums for plastic surgery and no one had websites with tons of before and afters. It was all word of mouth.

I know, just for me I'd prefer photos since my last surgeon who did my rhino was based off on word of mouth and that well...wasn't good obviously. I always hear he's good, but sometimes preferences between surgeon and patient don't match up as well and I personally can't risk that. I decided I won't be going to him because I just don't have the flexibility in my schedule to do so.
