biggiemoney Posted April 12, 2018 Posted April 12, 2018 I'm considering placing a 10% deposit to reserve a surgery day with Dr. Seo at MVP for eyes and nose. I just booked an Airbnb in Gangnam-gu at a great price, but google maps reveal that it's 2 hours away from Incheon Airport. I'd like to place the deposit to take advantage of the limo services that come with it (pick-up from the airport upon arrival in Korean, and pick-up from Airbnb to the Airport upon departure). This would save me quite some time and hassle (I can't speak/read any Korean, I've never been to Korea, thus never used their transportation). If I go this route, I'd have to cancel my consultations at Teuim, Gyalumhum, and Navi which I don't feel too bad about because Dr. Seo seems to be exactly what I'm looking for considering all his reviews. Plus, I save time going all over the neighborhood to consult. I haven't read a single negative comment about Dr. Seo's skill or demeanor. I think he's a safe bet. Should I just commit to him -- your thoughts?
matusz Posted April 12, 2018 Posted April 12, 2018 What's more important, $100-200 you'd spend on the taxi or making sure you're being put under with the right doctor? Think about what regret you would have if something went unsatisfactorily, which is pretty common. Would you kick yourself for not consulting other doctors? It seems like MVP is probably one of the more popular clinics out of the rest of your consultations, so it's not too bad of a bet, but I would value the IN PERSON opinion you get from other specialists at the cost of the taxi, so I wouldn't put a deposit down personally. It's really not hard to get from the airport to gangnam if you don't know korean.
eurasianbeauty Posted April 12, 2018 Posted April 12, 2018 Wouldn't the subway take you to where you needed to go faster and cheaper?
minigenji Posted April 12, 2018 Posted April 12, 2018 I would suggest you to go to other clinics for consultation first because it may change your mind. I was like you and have my eyes set on one clinic before arriving at Seoul but after consultation, I changed my mind and went with another clinic. It's just my suggestion but if you feel like MVP is right for you then by all mean, go for it. As for transportation, they have a lot of lines and can be confuse at first but it's not hard to navigate using the train since most of the signs are in english. To make navigating easier in Seoul, ensure to pick up a SIM card at the airport. The unlimited data is very handy when comes to traveling and finding places but you may want to check with your AirBNB host first. Some of them provide free pocket WiFi.
monimoni Posted April 12, 2018 Posted April 12, 2018 There's a really great subway called the AREX express that takes you straight to Seoul station if you book online for ~$6 USD. And from Seoul Station to Gangnam there's a variety of handy buses that come very regularly.
cherryontop Posted April 12, 2018 Posted April 12, 2018 I'm from Canada and I've gone to Seoul from Incheon two times. Seoul is super tourist friendly thanks to K-pop and the Hallyu Wave (influence from k-dramas) so there is English and guide signs EVERYWHERE. There are signs literally as soon as you pass immigration and pick up your luggage. There are also tons of staff at the airport who's job is to help you. You really don't have to worry. Also a quick google search would bring information from TripAdvisor and tons of blogs on how to get to Seoul/Gangnam/your AirBnB.
lemmetellu Posted April 12, 2018 Posted April 12, 2018 First of all, I would definitely NOT put down a deposit and visit several clinics. You never know which doctor you will end up liking. I'm a Korean who travels out of the country at least once a month, so I will tell you how to get to Seoul from the airport. Getting to Gangnam does not take 2 hours (maybe if there's traffic); it is more like 1-1.5 hours no matter what form of transportation you take. 1. Taxi: It will cost you at maximum $100 (probably more like 7만원 or $70) if you take the taxi straight from the airport. It is very easy to take the taxi.. just follow the signs and there's always a guy there to assist you and ask you where you're going. 2. Bus: There are many buses that go to Gangnam and stops in certain neighborhoods. You can look this up by searching for "Seoul airport limousine bus" on Google or something. They normally cost around $15 (15,000원). 3. Subway: This is the cheapest method and can cost anything from like $3 to $7 depending on if you take the Arex to Seoul Station first or not. You can also just take the regular subway to Hongdae station then switch to line 2. Is it really worth it to save at max $70 on a taxi when you are getting surgery on your face? Also for what it's worth, I met with Dr. Seo at MVP and ended up not going with him (you can see my past post).
myprettyself Posted April 14, 2018 Posted April 14, 2018 Found this on a FB page that explains it in detail. So I agree you don't really need the limo service. FAQ: What's the best way to get from the airport to Seoul? Most of us will likely be travelling alone from Incheon airport to a hotel in Seoul, which honestly can be scary since you're in a foreign country. But rest assured you don't need to be, as at the airport almost all signs will have English on them and there is even an information booth available for foreign travelers, including English! To help you a little more, there are basically 3 options available to you to get to Seoul (station), which are by AREX, bus and taxi. AREX: You can go by AREX, which is a train to get you to Seoul (station) easily where you then can take a cab to your accommodation. There are two types of AREX; an all stop one and an express train. They differ a little in price and travel time, but are still really cheap and also have a clear indication in English on where the stops are. BUS: - You can go with (normal) airport buses that also announces the stops including English, so quite convenient but can be crowded. - You can also go with KAL buses that make stops at major hotel chains. These tend to be less crowded and more spacious. Going by bus is a but more expensive than going by AREX. TAXI: Then if you really want convenience and don't mind the costs then you can also go with a taxi. There are two different types of taxi's; the normal taxi that goes by the meter and the international one that has a fixed price dependent on the area in Seoul you are going to. And the good thing about international taxi's are that the driver can speak English. So we hope this helps a bit in your research and also help you to be a little less anxious about travelling alone to Korea. biggiemoney Posted April 14, 2018 Author Posted April 14, 2018 You guys are the best, seriously. I'm convinced -- I'll proceed with multiple consultations to determine whom I should trust with my face.
justdimples Posted January 3, 2019 Posted January 3, 2019 Hello can I please ask who you would recommend for primary rhino? Also what do you think about silicone implants for elevating the bridge?
