itmeowshere Posted May 22, 2018 Posted May 22, 2018 hi, I was wondering if there are any hospitals in Seoul that still do the bone shaving procedure for the zygomatic arch? I know most doctors now favor the L osteotomy, but in my case one of my Zygomas has swollen due to an injury and is thicker than the other Zygoma so I think shaving would be best. I was planning on going to Eppley or Charles Lee but have heard bad things about them on this forum. Anyone know of any clinics that can help me? Thank!
k-couture Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 shaving is minimal results tho. I had mine shaved in Australia years ago and literally noticed NOTHING. Paid a ton of money too. Years later i ended up going to korea for a significant result. However shaving the arch will yield more visible result than the side, tho still not as much as osteo. I had mine shaved at the side back then
madambutterfly89 Posted July 30, 2019 Posted July 30, 2019 Oh wow. I trhought you just had the jaw reduction. Didn’t know you had zygoma reduction done as well.
wideface Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 @K Couture, happy with the results? I don't want to get it overdone such that my face loses all structure. I'm primarily concerned about still maining the projection and definition of the cheekbones (think how models cheekbones "pop") just less wide and broad.
k-couture Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 @Madambutterfly89 yeh i did both. Jaw was done in thailand eons ago. was botched from that one so i had to do a lift when i was really young as there was significant sagging. I did it when i was like 19 i think? Then when i was like 21/22 the pre mature sagging began. Mind you in my case they really just hacked off way too much bone. My ct looked nothing like yours. Yours actually looks normal and i can tell they did it properly, as in they kept the angle. Mine they completely hacked off the mandible angle it was horrible. Which is why a 2-3 years later my jowels were sagging and I needed a lift to conceal and fix the problem. Thankfully it worked. I foolishly did it at Yanhee hospital. Literally a meat market hospital. I later found out that only the people with no money in Thailand would go there. the middle class and above would never go to that place.@wideface yep really happy. I brought in a picture of Lee Bing Bing actually. (not fan bing bing. I think she looks weird). I explained to my surgeon that I still wanted my zygoma angles just less wide. So he focused more on reducing the sides and less at the arch. In hind sight I probably should have reduced more at the arch because my zygoma is quite prominent but I say im really happy because I got exactly what i asked for since i specifically told him that I liked my 45 degree angle which is predominantly due to the arch. Anyway can't revise it anymore as my zygoma structure isn't the strongest to begin with and it is a nice improvement so yeah.
wideface Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 @K Couture thanks for the response! is the "arch" of the zygoma the anterior/front projecting part? I'm assuming you would want to keep that or even enhance . it to maintain the appealing 3-d aspect of a face. An example of what I find to be a good example of zygoma reduction: Notice the "front" is still very strong but the sides have been streamlined (but even the sides are not gone!) I find this result a little too far: In your eyes, what would you say are the major differences between the two results? Is there anybody in the U.S. who is adept at performing this? I have a consultation with Dr. Charles Lee coming up, but I heard he is hit or miss.
k-couture Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 the first guy from power rangers....he just lost weight. He didn't actually do any surgery when i compare those pictures. Also different lighting and make up. zygoma reduction doesn't give results like that the second guy looks better before. They resected and pushed in his sides and arch. Men who already have the definition of the second guy in the picture shouldnt be getting facial contouring. His face wasn't considered wide to begin with. It was masculine and defined
madambutterfly89 Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 In the second photo-if the guy was a girl do you think the result would be better for female?
madambutterfly89 Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 Li bing bing is the ideal face shape that I adore. Just beautiful. Unfortunately, the second guy in the photo looks kinda like mine? I think that’s what happened to me in the zygoma part. I don’t know if custom cheek implants would benefit me. My surgeon respected the contour/definition part of my cheekbone. Now there’s just a gap. Another option is bone graft from hip and pushing the zygoma out but I think hard too traumatic and unpredictable. The result might not even make any difference either.
madambutterfly89 Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 May I ask where you had your zygoma done?
madambutterfly89 Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 Is it true that rotating the cheekbone prevents sagging? I’m wondering if a facelift will work for me if a peice of Malar bone was removed?
k-couture Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 no its not true it still causes some degree of sagging. And yes a face lift will 100 percent work for you
kyo Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 I have 2 consultations with a reconstructive surgeon and a craniofacial surgeon about zygoma surgery, my question I dont want to change my zygoma as far as shaving and cutting off any of my zygoma bone I just want to talk to a doctor about putting it back in the same position it was 2 years ago do you think my skin sagging with be the same ?
