Beware of "Real Story/Real Diary" type of reviews especially on SoYoung

@Ririna shouldn't we just realize instead that if someone paid full price for their surgeries, they want to maintain their privacy and not show their results?

So if we read a review with before and after pictures, the poster might have been given a discount and just keep that in mind?

With every review I read, I know that there is a large possibility that the person got a discount. In fact, the vast majority of reviews I've read on here are promotional in that way. But some other people don't know that.

Why can't people be more honest with the fact that they got a discount? Why should we just be satisfied with the way things are on this platform? I would feel like I'm hiding something extremely important if that were the case for me, but it seems like very few other people actually care about being transparent.

I totally feel your frustration Ririna, like it would be awesome if 100% of the members were more open to being transparent and sharing B&A pictures with no financial incentive behind it.

Unfortunately, it's not a requirement and most females don't want to disclose they had plastic surgery, so not enough of us are sharing our results.

But even without a discount, most clinic knows these forums exist and Botched pictures would ruin them. I'm sure there are plenty of posters who have not shown their pictures & paid full price in purseblog who are satisfied with their surgeries.

Agreed. It's not like we automatically avoid a clinic if we know the reviewer is a promoter. Most of us just want honesty, even people promoting stuff on blogs will disclose if it's sponsored

I think what @Ririna is trying to say is, sure we welcome people that posted a review while receiving discount, but we'd appreciate it if people MENTIONED in their review that they got a discount for sharing their results.

I don't understand why some people don't want to admit that they got a discount for posting a review. It's not like we'll hate if they tell the truth

@miss miyu I'm not positive but it might be the clinic strongly discourages revealing the review include the discount in their post? In which case, the person can't reveal it? (I have no idea how it works since I always paid full price.)

But other members says some clinics tell them not to reveal prices to other people too. Which, I think is a terrible practice. That just encourages overpricing for foreigners.

I always keep in the back of my mind though, if someone paid full price they aren't likely to be sharing B&A pictures for privacy reasons.

Oh right,it didn't occur to me that clinics may prohibit that. I agree with you, we should just keep in mind that people who paid full price likely want to keep their privacy

Actually almost nobody will want to post a detailed diary of their post-op up until months/years unless they got a discount. But I still think these promotional reviews at Soyoung and Babitalk are useful to gauge the doctor's aesthetic style. Many Soyoung reviews also post videos, so it can help people look at results that aren't heavily photoshopped
