tulipfield
At my workplace I see a ton of women with obvious plastic surgery (and many no doubt with subtle procedures). While I know there are people going for an exaggerated look, these are somewhere in between. If you didn’t know plastic surgery was a thing, you might well think their faces were natural, but knowing that it is a thing, you can tell right away. So my question is, for those of you who’ve had procedures, do you care that people can tell you’ve had it? This is not meant as criticism, by the way. I’m genuinely curious. And if you’re willing to disclose your general location, I’d be curious about how it differs by the community you live in.

phoebebuffey
I think there's a difference between it being obvious compared to your old appearance, and obvious because it's poorly done. I wouldn't mind if it was obviously different than how I used to look... that's why I want surgery! But I still want to look like I COULD HAVE been born with the features I changed... (smaller nose, thinner cheeks, etc...) (:
sheonlylooks25
Exactly. Obvious in a baaaad way it definitely a no no. I can't help myself. If I see a nice nose and I know it's from surgery I will just ask the girl straight out, "which clinic?". I have even been known to 'stalk' someone when they are soooo gorgeous and you know it's through surgery. I just followed them to get a second and a third look. So obvious but in a good way. tulipfield
Ah, I don’t mean as compared to your old face, of course you want that. I just mean I can tell even when I see someone for the first time. Mostly because the features many people opt for here are so uncommon as natural features it’s plain to see they had surgery. Do you mean you can tell just by looking at them with no outside knowledge? That’s what I’m getting at. Even if it looks good, is it worth it if people know it’s not yours? =o

pear-orange
for me personally, I would try my best to avoid looking like a ''Gangnam beauty''. it is a popular derogatory term in Korea for women who obviously have had surgery. i have an acquaintance who had done ps in Korea, she turned out beautiful but it was so obvious that she has done ps, even to people who don't know her 'before' face. her eyes are enormous, her jaw and chin is a narrow V, and obvious aegyo-sal. people know that such kind of face is not naturally possible from asian genetics (or any race genetics imo) the problem with looking like a gangnam beauty is many narrow-minded people can use it against you. especially if you live where ps is frowned upon. i have heard numerous rude comments from friends, relatives, and even strangers towards this friend of mine behind her back. the worst critics are the fanatical religious types, girls who are lucky to be born quite pretty, and men. so I definitely want my surgery results to look "natural". I know I shouldn't care about other people's opinion, but I'm not brave enough to let people who aren't close to me know about me getting ps. riri099
I prefer subtle/natural change but if nobody notice or think I look totally same then I might be sad ahahaha
watermelon09
I will also feel bad if people notice, but I think people will notice it because its kinda like big surgery. At least people who knows me in the past will know.
goodavocado
I mean my nose is really distinct so it would be really easy to tell any change imo, so in that way at least to me it's "obvious". But I just hope someone looking at me for the first time wouldn't be able to tell I had any plastic surgery done because I still haven't figured out whether to say "yeah I've done plastic surgery" or lie and say "no I'm all natural". I hope no one asks because it's kinda rude but it's kind of making me never want to see my relatives in China ever again because they always tell me I look fatter than before (even though by American standards I'm at a healthy BMI and a size 4). I can just imagine what they'd say if they noticed I got plastic surgery.... thinking about it makes me determined never to go back there again. watermelon09
@goodavocado I think in China lots of people come to Korea to do plastic surgery. And especially in Asia I think people will always comment on your looks. Maybe you can ask your close friend for honest opinion about your nose ^^ For me, I am Korean, and after I did my surgery, my relatives said its good that I did the surgery, I definitely look better now. For me, I have microtia (ear anomaly) so I look like normal people now although my left and right ear look different but usually people don't really notice that about me. mellowmood
I remember how my surgeon Dr Oh from Regen said that a good plastic surgery is the one that’s can’t be determined! I got several procedures done but no one can see any sign as my results look very natural. Even my co-workers who still have no clue about my ps’s still wonder how I became so pretty lol
amazingdifference
I like a bit of plastic look but it's always better to be less than too much. hmm.. i hate girls with lips surgeries. dont know why.
ladybugz
I wanted a dramatic change, but NOT the "I obviously had plastic surgery look." For example, Blake Lively had a major nose job, but it doesn't look as if she's *obviously* had one. Same with Ivanka Trump. I work in a pretty public facing job, so there is no way I could look like some of those "after" Korean models without freaking my (white) coworkers out/potentially getting fired.
