nessbess Posted November 20, 2018 Posted November 20, 2018 I had facial contouring 6 months ago and was wondering if anyone else has experienced fluctuating swelling during this time like me. I can't tell if it gets worse after having something salty or after intense exercise? When have you noticed your swelling gets significantly worse-- after salty foods or doing exercise? I don't want to give up exercising, but I can easily give up salty foods. :/ I'm try to understand what's causing this because it's sooo frustrating. I look good when my face isn't 2X as large.
jphuoc Posted November 21, 2018 Posted November 21, 2018 Both. Exercise increases blood pressure, so the hydrostatic pressure in your blood vessels overcome the pressures in your tissues. Fluid leaves the vessels and collects in the tissues causing swelling. Salt has a similar effect since sodium causes water retention, also leading to an increase in the hydrostatic pressure of your blood vessels. Hope that makes sense.
seoullite Posted November 23, 2018 Posted November 23, 2018 It's better not to eat a lot of salty food on daily basis, because it keeps water in the body and causes swelling. And if you had surgery, than it will affect it for sure!
kathy2406 Posted November 23, 2018 Posted November 23, 2018 I had my eyelid surgery 9 months ago and notice little more swelling the following morning after eating salty food I don't know about exercise coz the only exercise I do is breathing and walking
