I hope the healing goes well. Did the doctor say anything about the scarring? Also, please let me know how long it takes for the swelling to go down enough for you to show your face in public - I'm a bit worried about returning to work haha.
I am an Asian male (mid-20s) thinking about getting double eyelid surgery. I don't have monolids but my eyelids are asymmetrical - one of them has multiple folds and the other has what I believe is an epicanthal fold (below are two photos). To be honest, I don't think the asymmetry is too noticeable because when I mention it to my friends, they all say they never noticed it before.
I have a few questions about DES:
I think I will have to get incisional DES (but not completely sure). Will the scarring go away? It seems there are mixed results regarding the scarring. I don't wear make-up and so there is nothing to hide the scars
Will people be able to tell I had DES? I read that when you close your eyes, the scar is visible which is a tell-tale sign - anything else?
I am thinking of asking for a low crease - is there anything else that I need to specify for a natural result?
Your result looks good and I'm glad you are happy with it. Thank you for consistently posting updates and I appreciate the little details (like what you said about stiffness when curling your upper lip) so that I can mentally prepare for it haha.
Hi Ray, I'm glad you had a good outcome. I have a few questions.
Does Dr Jin normally use the whole rib cartilage or does he dice it and wrap it in fascia? Also, does he perform rhinoplasty with silicone or does he only deal with rib?
How long does the pain in the rib last? Is there a visible scar and where is it located? Which rib does he extract the cartilage from? Are you restricted from any activities in the future because of harthe ribvesting?
Thank you so much for the reply - glad I'm not suffering alone! Have you had any consultations about this already? When will you be getting the injections?
I'm wondering whether it is enough to just inject the nostrils. Because when I think about it, it is the muscles in the face that is causing the nose to widen, right? Nostril flare is only a small part of the issue - at least for me.
When you do speak to your doctor or get the injections done, could you find out what the name of the areas they are targeting are?
Thanks for taking the time to reply. I am not interested in alarplasty because I don't have an issue with my nose when my face is at rest. Also, I think alar base reduction doesn't look so great. My main issue is that when I smile, my nose widens. I can accept botox top-ups given it is not that expensive and not permanent like alarplasty is.
I've been lurking here a long time and enjoy reading your posts. I'd be very curious to hear about the result of your zygoma reduction if/when you have it done. I am interested in the procedure myself but I'm quite skeptical that sagging can be avoided - maybe it can be avoided in the short-run but I think the ageing process will make it quite pronounced in the long-run. Out of interest, what did the Dr say in the consultation that made you think it is possible to avoid the sagging? I believe you are someone with a medical background so I'm curious to hear your thoughts!
Anyway, I hope you are sure you want the procedure and can accept the risk of sagging! Good luck!
Does anyone else have the issue of their nose widening when they smile? Has anyone tried using Botox to fix this? Do you know what nasal muscles are targeted? How does it affect your smile/face afterwards?
Has anyone had a (Hiko) PDO thread lift to increase the height of their nose bridge and tip? If so, what was the experience like? How long did it last? How does it compare to fillers in terms of the height achieved?
Hi, has any tried using nose filler to add height to their nose bridge? Have you been satisfied with the result? How much height could you get with fillers? Did you notice any filler migration over time?
I want a higher nose bridge but I don't want to get rhinoplasty because of all the associated risks and issues.
Hi, thanks for the review. When you post your B&A photos, please post them from the same angle, without filter and with the same amount of make-up in both so it's easier to see the change.
Hi, my heart really goes out to you. I'm also someone who is quite shy (and not being able to speak up has gone against me so many times in my life) so I see where you are coming from. I really appreciate how level-headed your post is (and that is such a rare quality) and thanks for all the advice you have given! I would appreciate it if you could keep us updated on how the results of your zygoma reduction develops - I'm interested in getting zygoma reduction but I'm worried about the sagging (and how long and difficult the recovery process is).
I know the result isn't exactly what you wanted but at least at the end of the day, all you lost is money. Also, maybe to other people, your facial features have improved a lot - I mean, we are always more critical of ourselves than others are of us.
I really hope you feel better about yourself - not just about the results of the surgery but also confidence in your own skin. I agree with the above poster - if you do get surgery again (which I would probably advise against because it is so risky in terms of not being able to get the desired result and also potential complications), please save enough money to be able to take care of your own health!
