  1. Even though I am not active on PF anymore I would like to retract any positive things and recommendations to go to DA. I am too uncomfortable rooting for them after the decline of quality and rise of unsatisfactory patients. I feel like the only thing that still has some truth to it is the skills of Dr Lee.

  2. My friend/a forumner who is currently in Korea told me when she visited DA she saw a girl crying her heart out and using a bunch of tissues covering her face. My friend thought she was in pain but she asked and it turned out the girl absolutely HATES the result of her nose. This happened THIS WEEK. The girl was 10th day post-op.

Please guys avoid Dr Ahn like he is the plague.

  3. I think as a rule of thumb, anything DA quotes you, you should try to get 30% off. When you consult just bring emails from other clinics quoting you cheaper, even if you aren't interested in that clinic, just ask them to match the price.

A forumner went there recently and due to her great negotiating skill she managed to knock off 30%. DA really goes overboard with their prices >____>

  4. Even on korean threads on Naver and Daum they are complaints of DA's nose doctor. I wouldn't go to him.

It's abit unfortunate because people like Dr Lee and the breast augmentation doc (forgot the name T__T) but the nose doc seems to not be on par with them.

Even on pictures they use on their site and blog their noses are ridiculous looking. The forum members who I use to keep on contact with who did nose at DA has not responded to me, despite her saying she was going to have a check up in April.

Maybe the doctor is okay if you are just wanting a bridge augmentation and tip but I would still want someone who has more positive than negative reviews. It's sad because the nose doc I heard is quite nice and very accommodating and very honest and his bedside manner is great but his results don't deliver AT ALL.

Please don't go to DA for nose, you can go somewhere who probably is cheaper and way more experienced. ESPECIALLY if it is a revision case, don't go there. But I know some of you know that already since in the kakao groups most of the info spreads pretty fast haha.

  5. I emailed The Line (thelineclinic.com) about their famous barbie rhinoplasty I keep seeing being mentioned in chinese and korean threads and this is what they replied me.

I became interested in them after seeing them names pop up when looking through korean threads and also because they gravitate doing closed-method rhinoplasty.

I basically asked them what their barbie rhinoplasty included since I wanted an implant, tip plasty, alar reduction and narrow of nasal bone and if the barbie rhinoplasty included all that.

I asked about ptosis and PRP.

Thank you very much for your inquiry at THE LINE Plastic Surgical

  6. I also asked Real Cosmetics the same thing (eyes + nose)(http://www.realcosmetic.com/english/main/main.php). Real does not reply via email, they do reply to those community boards within 1 day.

Real isn't talked a lot among this thread but they seem to have happy clients and I like their natural results, they don't really do dolly results, just refining of your current features

    * Rhinoplasty by Silicon or Goretex is about 4,000,000 Won (KRW) and Alar Rim Reduction is about 2,000,000 Won (KRW). And the osteotectomy is about 8,000,000 Won (KRW). Dr.Kim prefers Closed method unelss it is necessary to do it by Open Rhinoplasty. It varies case by case.

    * Full-Incision Double Eyelids surgery is about 3,000,000 Won (KRW) and there is additional cost for the ptosis correction.
For Medial Canthoplasty and Lateral Canthoplasty is about 1,500,000 Won (KRW) each.

    THERE IS ADDITIONAL 10% VAT.

Thanks for your interest in Real Cosmetic Clinic and hope to hear from you soon.

  7. I though some of you might be interested, I contacted Dream Medical (http://en.e-dream.co.kr/). I asked them about nose, eyes, PRP + whitening injections. Their reply is a bit messy but I think you guys can manage:

    - rhinoplasty, i have a low bridge, bulbous nose, wide alar and large nasal bone
The rhinoplasty is a rather complex procedure which can be done in a variety of methods depending on your current condition.
Our quote is different for revisional procedures and first time procedures.
For simple bridge and tip augmentation, the approximate price is

AR, TA, u-graft KRW 3.9 million

To reduce your alars and your nasal bone, you might have to add the prcedures below

    Lateral Osteotomy KRW 0.8 million
    Weir excision KRW 1.6 million

If your nose requires more complex procedures that needs an open surgery, the price could range from
Open Rhino KRW 6.3 -8.6 million

It all depends on your skin thickness and nose structure which we can only know from a physical examination.
The stitches and bandages will be removed 7 days post surgery and you will be able to go back to work then.

    - eyes, though i have double eyelids they lids seem so big and thick and it actually makes me look sleepy, i also want more of a almond shape so i want to widen the width with epicanthoplasty and lateral canthoplasty
Our quote is different for revisional procedures and first time procedures. Is it the first time you are doing a double eyelid surgery?
We would have to see you in person to make exact recommendations, I'll just give you our quotes for the procedures inquired.
The stitch removal is about 2-7 days after surgery depending on the procedures you actually do take and you will be able to return to work then.

DEN : double eyelid nonincision KRW 1.9 million

DEI : double eyelid incision KRW 3.1 million
median canthotomy (inner corner) KRW 1.2 million
lateral canthotomy (outer corner) KRW 1.2 million

i wanted to know the healing time and also an approximation of price
For all surgeries, swelling will reach a peak 2-3 days after surgery and start to subside from then.
Majority of the swelling will go down in 1-2 weeks, but you will still feel that the area is swollen as it will be more swollen compared to your normal state.
For the rest of the swelling to subside, it differs from patient to patient but you usually have to wait 3-6 months to see the final result.
You will also have to avoid wearing glasses post rhinoplasty and contact lenses post eyelid surgery for two weeks post surgery.

I am also interested in your skin treatments, are they safe to perform together or just before or after surgery?
I was interested in the injections PRP and Whitening injection. I have acne scars and uneven skin tone, are there maybe other skin treatments that i will be able to do while i do surgeries?

We most recommend that PRP injection because the whitening injection takes multiple injections over a prolonged period
    to be effective.
A single PRP injection is enough to see visible improvement in skin regeneration.
Our quote for PRP injection is 1 mil KRW per injection.
Whitening injection is 0.5 mil KRW per injection.
Please take note that if you do the PRP injection, you have to wait about 1-2 days to do other surgeries on your facial area.
This is to avoid introducing foreign substances (antiseptic swab) through the punctures in your skin made by the injection.

However, scarring usually involves pigmentation and you have to take laser treatments to completely get rid of the pigmentation.
It could involve a combination of fraxel, toning lazers and peeling as necessary.
    - If you stay in Korea for 2 weeks, you can get 1 fraxel laser, 1 prp injection, 1 peeling and 2 toning laser treatments.
    - You can add more toning laser and peeling treatments if you lengthen your stay.
    - Typically takes about 10 toning laser and 3 peeling treatments to completely eradicate acne scarring.
    - You can still see some improvement after 1 treatment.
    - Cost Fraxel 1 session- KRW 1.5 mill, 3 sessions- KRW 3 mil
Toning laser 1 session- KRW 0.8 mil, 5 sessions – KRW 2 mil

Please do let me know if you would like to book a consultation and surgeries here with us.
I will be happy to make a reservation for you.

  9. I found another clinic that no one has mentioned yet and it seems they are english friendly and won a Korean medical award.

    ~ extra info ~
For people who are wanting to get rid of acne scars specifically (and need some whitening). I have read and also suggested by my korean friends, the most popular choices to counteract them is: fraxel laser and aladin peeling.

However I would avoid fraxel laser, though it is effective, you need multiple sessions and doesn't really change your skin "within", so if you do not religiously take care of your skin after, it will go back to what it was. (I did this before and my skin was good for 1-2months and then it went back to me still getting pimples and the scars from it argh).

The Aladin peel apparently you can have some effective results only after 1 session and it helps/stops with sebum secretion.

PRP is also good to improve overall skin (scars, more collagen).

  10. aw thank you are so sweet, i hope you're recovering well sweetie! haha i am a girl, a university student in australia. i am not too phase with people thinking whatever they like, if they actually saw my all my posts, i do not vouch for DAPRS, like everyone else i started with a few clinics in mind and as i learnt more and others shared their experience i narrowed and narrowed my choices down.

but honestly you're so sweet, it was honestly all you, i really hope for a more confident, happier and even more beautiful you  !

  11. I read a lot of ulzzangs (who are known for their dolly look and perfect skin) go to Chungdam U. There is also a thread on pf where she went plastic surgery here she was impressed by their skin/dermatology service [original post]. She also tells you how to login and navigate through the site.

Looking through the b&a's I haven't seen a whole lot of mature aged people going, it is mostly young/college looking kids going for acne scars, acne, whitening, even skin tone etc. However, I am sure they still do provide services for them

I think the only problem is that there isn't really like a one time service and you get and you magically have perfect skin, I think you need to go like 3-4 times to see a real difference.

Hopefully you guys can find the skin before and afters, they really are amazing!

  12. I know some of you, specifically the ones who want to save as much as they can, are still finding ways into lessening your costs and all that (for translators, etc.) Member, bkzabii recent experience with a translator and about getting charged higher made me research more into it.

I was lucky enough for a forumner to contact me and explain the process to me. She is really informative and super sweet. She also has tested this translator/local/foreigner pricing thing. She asked her korean friend to call a couple of clinics.

It is true a translator will usually get a commission whether they are "plastic surgery translator" or a translator you hired from an independent company. Apparently when your translator is making the initial consultation appointment for you, they will ask something like "Is it for you or for someone else?", they will then ask what the nature of your relationship is, if it is anything but family or friend they will proceed to ask how much commission they want. The usual rate is 10~20%. Obviously this will be passed onto the final price they give you for your surgeries. Please don't think this is shady or anything, apparently it is part of Korean culture.

I know some of you have been kind of concerned about this local/foreigner pricing and translator situation and like what other people have said before, it is better to get a friend or maybe even ask your translator to act as a friend, but I guess if you use some of the popular ones mentioned in this forum they will know if they aren't.

bkzabii's story about her host mum from airbnb helping her translate and her getting quoted significantly lower than the clinics she did use a translator gave me the initial idea to contact some of the airbnb places I was interested in and ask the hosts if they were willing to help me out and 3/3 of them were totally sweet and said they were more than happy to help me (they were all girls btw). I think it's great for the people who are interested in using airbnb because you can contact the host/hostess before you go and ask if they are wanting/willing to help you.

I know this might not be for all of you as some of you still want to the comforts of a hotel but for people who want to save money as much as they can, doing something like that ^ might help

This is one of the replies I got back:

Hopefully this is helpful for you guys! Happy holidays~

  13. Hi~ like andifleur5 metioned, the clinics she said are good with eyes but also it really depends what kind of eyes you want. (Teuim will always be my #1 but unfortunately he is sick/absent *sigh*)

Do you want dolly eyes or do you want natural?

I haven't really looked into fat graft specialist because it's a somewhat standard surgery that most, if not all clinics can do. There isn't a lot of ways a clinic can screw it up unless it's infection (your own reaction to it), they put too much/not enough or the fat itself doesn't last very long. I know some clinics include prp treatment which helps enhance the results and it also has other skin benefits like helping with acne and acne scarring.

Earlier in this thread a lot of people say Bandoeyes are really good, since they only do and focus on eyes, their specialty is revision cases.

Personally I do really like kiwi, teuimps, ksamsung, tlps, real, view's fat graft before and after though

This clinic I found looking through korean cafes seemed to be mentioned quite a lot and I do really like the results. Pretty and natural  There is no english site though
    http://www.eyesusul.com/

  14. Well you can look at the other before and afters on the website yourself. This one is just from an independent reviewer on a korean cafe, I'm not korean nor can I read korean so all I've got is pictures and rough translations. All I wanted to do is suggest clinics because people can only find hushu and other foreign targeted clinics.

I'm still trying to look for more  Magic dermatology is just from a word of mouth I have heard from someone I actually know.

  15. Hi guys,

I see a lot of you wanting my friends photos but I only want to share through pm. I'm sorry, but I'd like to keep my identity private (as my email contains my first and last name) just because I am still grappling the fact that where I live plastic surgery is very taboo so that's why I rather use the pm system.

And also putting your email on this thread makes you a target for spambots, since that's how they collect emails. It's also hard to edit posts or ask the moderators as they can't delete it for you.

Sorry again! I'll be more than happy to pm you anytime though.

  16. hi~ nice to meet you! you're english is fine and i can understand you  for nose it really depends what you want to do, different clinics go for different type of results... do you want more conservative/natural or a really dramatic change?

the clinics you mentioned aren't so good. bk and grand are the most sued in korea. shimmian is really a hit and a miss, dr jung is not very consistent (he is either really amazing or horrible). id is not very good either, they are known to swap surgeons while you're under GA, they are also excessively expensive. someone has died in wonjin.

lately i do really like item and regen's noses though  it's very natural but they have really beautiful noses but that's my opinion~ you need to know what exactly you want for your nose so it is easier to find the clinic you want

my 2 friends went to view (with dr lee sang woo) and girin for nose and eyes. if you (or anyone) wants to see the results i'll be happy to pm you  i don't want to post their pictures publicly hehe~

  17. Thank you for telling us , most on my notes on belita are outdated anyways (beginning of the year). That's a shame to hear, especially since they win many awards and stuff. Ah yes I remember reading about Dr Song, he actually was a visiting doctor but went to open his own clinic (making beauty clinic?) He is suspiciously really cheap so I immediately crossed him out. I checked some korean cafes but they all still talk positively about belita (I am still reading it and no major red flags have appeared yet)

Anyways thank you for telling us ^_^

  18. hi! no one on purse forum from my recollection has gone to belita but some people from the cheekbone reduction at cozycot have but i don't want to link it to you because we aren't allowed to promote other forums (please don't ban me!!!!). belita is really popular clinic among locals, some people who have visited them say they seem like a "small boutique clinic" compared to the bigger ones like id and regen, but they people lining up until outside the door. they have won a lot of awards.

with that being said, they are known to turn down foreigners as their local customers are enough for them. the doctors are said to be very personalised and stuff, i remember reading an account where someone printed a before and after specifically from their website and asked what surgeries she did to get this result and the doctor replied very honestly "i cannot give you this exact look because she has different face from you to begin with" and told her to focus more on her face becoming the best it can be instead of wanting to look like another person.

my friend who is korean and totally capable of speaking korean without looking like she is from somewhere else had vline and jaw redudction here (they are pretty popular from these procedures) despite being seen as a local she had to wait a week to get her surgery done. she looks really great now btw~ she has a very small jaw but it doesn't look unnatural or like an alien, she just looks like she has one of those cute small asian faces

i have emailed them personally like 10000 times but not once have they responded, i even tried emailing them in korean and nothing. however if you are still insistent on consulting with them since they are highly regarded in the industry, definitely bring a translator! (i heard they speak english very well but i wouldn't risk it)

this is their email: [email protected]

  19. i forgot who asked me but you couldn't find the email address for DAPRS on their website, i kakaoed them and they replied to me  their email is:

    [email protected]

i should also add that their original kakao id: DAPRS

isn't the one they use (which i think is weird since they put this on their website.. but they don't respond me > grr) and they actually use this one: da34484600

^ that's the one i use to communicate with them, be patient though they respond pretty slowly haha

  20. hi ^^ no problem. you do not need to purchase that exact boxset (i'm not) i just wanted to give an idea of what could help, like you see the pill bromelain pills right? you can easily search that and i'm sure any pharmacy or health food store will have it for you (it's essentially pineapple), that's why after your surgery eat as much pineapple as you can hehe ( and pumpkin too )!

after your surgery you will get medication and almost always one of the medication will be bromelain. it won't hurt to get stocked up especially if you do a more invasive surgery and swelling can persist for 1 year. i think in korea you can find cheaper and probably better options (since korea is skincare crazy). i don't know if i am making sense haha.. those aren't brands they just contain ingredients which will aid in healing and recovering. you can easily google "arnica cream" and find a cheaper alternative.

personally for me i am just going to grab all that stuff in korea ^^ i remember reading on a forum there is even a special skincare brand catered for postop patients and they have this whole range of makeup and skincare line you use afterwards to aid with healing, scars and stitches etc. i will try to find it again

  21. ah that's nice of anita to say that. i don't have the luxury to do that so i wanted to do it all at once, it's a bit crazy but i think i will be okay ^_^ yes i think it's better to do it by the same doctor so you are more likely to get a harmonious face but sometimes after major surgery like facial contouring your other features mesh well with your new one. my friend did facial contouring and wanted to do eyes too but after her jaw and vline her eyes looked bigger  but i guess it depends what the doctor says and your trust in him and yourself!

i hope everything goes well for you!!

i am glad my information is helpful for some of you ^^ i will let you know about banobagi, by then i think you will be able to pm and i will message you but i am impressed by banobagi's work  i just wasn't interested in them so that's why i didn't bother looking info and reviews on them on the korean cafes.

i am not too sure about your cheekbone problem, do you mean only a frontal view your face seems wide? i think you need to ask specifically about this to your doctor because i know smallface has specific types of surgery like "frontal" and "45(?) degree" and they say they reduce the width in a way so your face isn't completely flat (sorry haha idk how to explain it very well), but i am not too sure about other clinics since smallface are facial contouring specialist.

i have to disagree about the results on men about smallface, if you look at the before and after (there's about 100 pages) some of the most drastic ones are men. for example this one:

i think your drooping problem under the chin, you need a jowl reduction. i think THINK tlps provides or has a surgery to combat this.. i think it's called a v lift or something like that? but i think other clinics should have this service too but they probably call it something else (my best guess is jowl reduction).

haha prp treatment never crossed my mind until i saw the results and read some reviews, especially because i started to get interested in fat grafts for forehead clinics usually combine this with prp, to maximise the result  but i was pleasantly surprised that it helps with acne and scars too~

your shortlisted clinics are really good choices, you should be very confident and happy with them  i haven't seen any serious red flags about them. good luck!!

  22. hi guys  i was asking one of my korean friends who currently live in korea where she goes to get her skin done and she told me she goes to magic dermatology (http://www.emagicskin.com/). i think it's worth looking into it, when i typed the name on the korean portals it had a lot of nice before and after photos.

(i should tell you i was just looking at acne scars and acne care)

this clinic is more for locals so the prices are cheap! if you have trouble navigating the site here is the "real stories": http://www.emagicskin.com/?idx=community/4

this is an example of a patient's before an after:

    she did:
    - Matrix IR (3 times)
    - Paroxetine Fractional CO2 (once)
    - Growth Factor Therapy - pretty sure it's stem cell (3 times)
    - Nose Fiji/Sebum Management (twice)
    =300,000kwn/$280

i've also heard good things about maylin dermatology but it is a bit pricey and everything has a set price so there is no room for haggling; which i guess is good so foreigners and locals pay the same. many korean celebrities go here for their skin

i have talked to a couple of people and clinics and even my translator and they all have advised to do dermatology work before plastic surgery for those of you are wanting to do ps there too
