People seem to have questions about doing different procedures together. Let's list procedures that aren't good together, and let's help other people figure out whether some procedures are ok to do or not!
A question I have: Can you get lip augmentation (like where they cut into your lips) done while you get your jaw done? Does the jaw swelling affect the lip procedure?
A procedure combo I know is bad (from another thread!): Rhinoplasty + Breast Augmentation (with implants), will make it very hard and painful to breathe.
Well I know they'll allow me to get it, it's just the issue of allowing me to get it without a parent there. Hopefully they do allow my sister to sign. x Jenna
Wow, why would they tell me I needed a parent then? Especially since I am going to be legal in both Korea and the US. Perhaps I can get them to compromise and have my mother sign a consent form here. But the thing is... She won't be my guardian at that time because I will be an adult. So I'm really confused as to what she is legally signing.
I should just have not said anything...I feel like if you fly their by yourself and pay for it they're not going to question you, lol. Or thinking about it, I really could have my sister say she is my guardian. I doubt they're going to check legally, and a parent doesn't have to be the guardian.
And thinking about it...I'm pretty sure I did email a couple of places a year or two ago when I was just curious and mentioned a sister coming with me. I'm pretty sure they told me if she had my moms permission, she could sign for me legally. Sorry I'm thinking out loud, but I think I just solved my own problem haha x Jenna
I'm currently incredibly confused and was hoping someone could clear it up for me.
Let me start this out by saying I am not trying to get plastic surgery against my parent's wishes, it's simply a matter of they don't want to go to Korea and I do not want them to have to make the trip with me and pay extra money.
So I would be 18 American age when I am planning to get surgery, which is 19 Korean age. From what I have been told and have looked up on my own, this is the legal age of adulthood in Korea.
Some clinics are telling me I will have to come with a guardian, and some are telling me I will not. I'm really confused. Is there some other rule I don't know about? Am I crazy? I don't want to just not bring a guardian and them be like "JK you do need a guardian we can't do this". SO confused.
The clinics I want to go to are JW, JK, Dream, and Samsung Line. I messaged a few others just to see what they would say, and TL and a few others told me I did not need a guardian. Both JW and JK told me a guardian was needed to sign forms. Can someone clarify?
My sister is interested in coming and getting her lips done. She will be 21 American, 22 Korean. She's not my guardian...but neither is my mom at that point. Does that count? Has anyone experienced this before?
Does the personal consultant speak English? I'd really like to talk to them but I don't speak Korean. Do you think you could send me their name on KKT? I can't send PMs yet. My KKT ID is timeforcupcakes. Thanks so much. x Jenna
The only thing I've gotten with twilight is wisdom teeth removal. Other procedures I had (rhinoplasty and a removal of a large birth defect on my scalp) were under GA. I would not feel comfortable getting them under twilight yet it seems that surgeons in Korea use twilight all the time. Can you tell them you need GA? I for some reason have an extremely stubborn body. My body will fight the anesthesia/sedation the entire time. I don't get loopy from medication or anything. I'm really, really not sensitive to it and I'm worried I will wake up. I hear all these stories of people waking up in Korea and it is one of my biggest fears. So do you guys think I could tell them I need GA because I have issues with sedation and they would do it? It's definitely more taxing on the body but I feel it is worth it. x Jenna
Thank you! From what I've read, JK is more natural looking and not "perfect". Their English is like AMAZING compared to other clinics I've emailed...the person was telling me about the specifics of jaw surgery, and how they'd have to find where my nerve line is to figure out how they could cut my jaw and all this stuff. And yeah JW is really good too...they have videos of surgery experiences on YouTube you can look up and see their English. There's one with three girls from Singapore (I think) where the whole thing is basically in English. They're definitely at the top of my list with Dream and JK. The only thing is JK keeps telling me I need to be 20 Korean age to get surgery without a guardian and everyone else tells me 19 Korean age is fine...I'm so confused. My mom isn't against me getting surgery there at all, I'm just worried she won't let me get it at the time I would like to get it and would want me to wait a few months later, so I'm hoping JW and Dream allow 18 yr olds.
I would honestly just go to a clinic that speaks English well and avoid a translator or anything. From everything I've read on here, translators for hire are super sketchy. That's just how I would feel better. Except if I do end up getting a fat graft, I'll bring a translator for that clinic, but the procedure isn't insanely expensive to start with.
I can't see how you would be able to get surgery separately because your breathing will be impaired. I can't imagine a good surgeon agreeing to do one surgery after the other. If anything, MAYBE someone would agree to do jaw after nose but I can't see the other way around. Getting them together would be terrible for a few days but then much easier recovery because after a few days both things will be less swollen and more healed. Plus I think they're usually done together to balance features.
I'm Caucasian so I might have a different experience than you would (I don't know your ethnicity, most people here happen to be Asian) but my surgeon in the US was terrible T_T. Here it's less about perfection and more about looking completely natural. Like I find my nose so ugly as it still has a bump and isn't straight yet every plastic surgeon here I talk to says the bump and imperfections make it look real...which I don't understand...I wanted to fix my nose not make it bigger lol. x Jenna
Everyone talks about how if you use natural cartilage it might absorb and shift.
If I currently have natrual cartilage and want a revision to make my nose smaller/smoother, would this matter? Because I'm assuming they would just be shaving a little bit of it off. x Jenna
I think there is a thread specifically for negative reviews and you could check that out. I've seen generally good ones but I haven't seen everything.
You don't need to know Korean...I believe they both have English translators. If they don't you can hire an English translator (not too expensive) or the doctor may speak English. They definitely have translators at JW and the doctors speak English as well I just don't know about the other one.
I've heard JK is a good clinic if you want a natural look for your jaw. Samsung Line as well.
I have a long face too, and I'm looking for a bit of a jaw reduction and chin reduction along with a rhino revision (technically I could probably use mild 2 jaw but I'm too scared). I'm from approximately the same area as you ^_^
Well the practice I went to has offices in NYC, but I looked up the doctor and he doesn't travel to NYC so you're safe from him
I think every place will have a few bad reviews. It isn't always the doctor's fault because maybe the patient isn't clear or doesn't have realistic expectations but I understand how worrying it is. I'm really paranoid about choosing a clinic. I guess it just depends on what you mean by bad review...like the nose just came out ugly, or there was a medical problem with the person's nose after surgery? x Jenna
My mother is interested in this too...It's really hard for her to keep her vision because she has to constantly raise her forehead and eyebrows to even be able to see correctly. She wants this but we don't know if it looks natural or how it will affect the way her face feels. x Jenna
I'm from NE U.S., so as long as you're not from there no chance you''ll run into the doctor. I'd PM you but my account is too new :/ You're looking for an American doctor? What procedure(s) are you looking to have done? x Jenna
Depends on the clinic but yes, mandible typically is reduced during a V-line procedure. V-line is kind of a buzzword so they will all be different. Definitely inquire. From personal experience with inquiries, I've seen that almost every one is a mandible reduction or has it included. x Jenna
As long as you have enough cartilage it is definitely possible. I am Caucasian and have a higher nose bridge and bigger tip to begin with. My first rhinoplasty I hate the look of, but it was definitely done fine with my own nose cartilage (they just didn't listen to what I wanted). x Jenna
$10,000 for:
-revisional rhinoplasty (using own cartilage in nose, as my bridge and tip are very high and it's my own cartilage)
-"bodylong curved square jaw reduction" to make my jaw and chin more symmetrical
This price sounds amazing. Sucks though because don't they have bad reviews
