@cieh LOL yes that's me!! FG and accu are not permanent solutions - so if you want a long lasting effect, then FC is the way to go. I don't feel like my jawline is too square or anything, and FC is such an invasive procedure I personally didn't want to go through it. FG really depends on the person, it might last longer on some people, and it depends where you get it done (laugh lines and chin area will absorb faster than forehead since we move those areas more). As for accu - just don't gain weight LOL

The tip of my nose is hard, nope can't do piggy nose haha

Thanks for the response! I am leaning towards silicone!! What type of nose did you explain to Dr. Seong? Like what did you tell him you wanted? and did you bring in examples of noses you liked.

Hello everyone! Some of you might know me from the KakaoTalk group with 100+ members wanting PS I wanted to write a review regarding my experiences so here it is!

I went with GNG Hospital for rhinoplasty (bridge augmentation, osteotomy, alarplasty, tiplasty), fat grafting (forehead, under eye area, nasolabial folds, chin) and acculift (aka accusculpt - jaw, lower cheeks). My surgeons were Dr Seong (rhino) and Dr Kim (FG, accu). I am currently day 14 post op - which means, last day of taking my antibiotics wooooo!

Disclaimer: while this may seem like a glowing review, I am not a promoter for GNG I paid a lot of hard earned money for my surgeries.

I didn't have time to do face to face consultations in Korea, so I did them all online and decided to go with GNG. If you have time, I highly recommend doing it face to face to get a feel of the clinic/surgeon since plastic surgery is no joke. (You only have one face/body, right?) Most people seem to be able to do surgery with their preferred surgeon the day after consultation (March/April isn't peak season - may not be possible during peak months) but I didn't want to risk it due to time constraints. So I sent in a deposit in advance to guarantee a spot.

Why I chose GNG:

Their surgeons are rhinoplasty and ENT specialists.

It is a proper hospital, with an on site anesthesiologist (important!), hospital facilities, sleeping wards, and great post operation care.

Any surgery done with them requires at least a one night stay.

If you secure a surgery with them in advance, they offer airport pick ups and will send you to your accommodation after you have been discharged.

Their English speaking consultant was great and responded to my queries reasonably quick and it was good to know I could still maintain contact with them post op in case I have any issues.

Day 0 - arrival | consultation
Since I wanted to maximise my recovery time, I chose an early flight which arrived at Incheon at 9:30am. A taxi driver picked me up from the airport and took me to GNG, where I met Hazel (English interpreter), the consultant, and my 2 surgeons. I also had my blood tested, did some scans, photos taken etc. I won't discuss pricing here as it's different for everyone, but I was able to get a discount for doing multiple procedures and letting I them use my photos/videos on their social media. I was also asked to write them a review but was told I didn't have to praise them. Just be honest. (To give you an idea, their basic rhino (bridge/tip) starts at 4.5m KRW).

Dr Seong: I had trouble deciding which rhino surgeon to choose since GNG has 5 - the most famous ones are Dr Seong, Dr Son, and Dr Hong. In the end, I went with Dr Seong because I heard he was most known for natural looking noses. When I met Dr Seong, I felt at ease because he was so smiley! He looked at my face/photos and knew exactly what "needed" (quoted because no one needs PS) to be done. My main concerns were my bulbous tip and large alars. I initially didn't want any implants in my bridge because I was happy with the height already, but Dr Seong said that without it, the nose line wouldn't be smooth as the tip becomes slightly raised due to tiplasty. He went with a 2mm ultra soft silicone implant for my bridge, and used septal cartilage for the tip. I also had the sides of my bridge shaven down as it was quite wide, and my alars taken in.

Dr Kim: she is very pretty LOL. Her skin is so nice I initially only consulted for acculift to remove stubborn fat from my jaw (double chin galore) and lower cheeks, but she also recommended fat grafting on my forehead, under eye area, nasolabial folds, and chin to fill them out more. FG can keep you looking youthful and the cells from the fat also makes your skin nicer. I listened to her advice and went ahead with it. She took fat from my inner thighs, (which apparently has a 10% higher retention rate compared to stomach fat), and mixed in PRP. Dr Kim spoke good English and was very nice, but seemed very busy (seeing me in between surgery/consultations).

Both accu and FG aren't permanent - the fats in your face will come back if you gain weight, so keeping a balanced diet/healthy lifestyle is key. As for FG, your fats get absorbed over time (not all of it - maybe 70%?) and it varies from person to person, but after 1-2 month post op, what's left is a good indication of what will remain. Some people say that FG needs to be done 2-3 times for it to be permanent but I have no experience in that. GNG doesn't believe in storing fats, so the FG is only done once, no top ups, and fresh fat will be harvested again if you need a top up.

Day 0 - surgery
After changing, washing my face and having lines drawn on them, (and waiting a bit), I was sent into the operation room just after 3pm. I got onto the table, they started putting the IV in me and I was told to breath. Last thing I remember was the cold feeling of the anesthesia going into my arm... and then I woke up. First thing I did was touch my ear LOL (I was told there was a 50% chance of using ear cartilage - luckily Dr Seong didn't have to!) They wheelchaired me away, put me in a tank for oxygen therapy, then into my room. I felt so nauseous, my throat was dry and I couldn't breath through my nose. It was amazing when I could finally drink water. The nurse asked if I wanted food but I felt sick and just wanted to sleep. (Even though I had been out for 7 hours!) I went through 2L of water that night because I was so dehydrated I'm so glad I was able to stay the night in one of their wards - I was in no condition to go to my accommodation and would have been very scared in case anything happened. (Probably would have tripped and broke my nose).

Day 1 - post op | discharge
I woke up, took a look at myself, and to be honest, I looked great LOL. I mean, I just had my face hacked open and foreign materials put into me. I expected the worst but I really didn't look that bad. Hazel came in and interpreted while Dr Seong and Dr Kim checked up on me (I think they usually see you after the surgery but it was late when I woke up), and told me that my surgeries were successful. I didn't feel any pain in my nose, but it was uncomfortable due to the stuffing. When it started to hurt later on, the nurse put more pain killers through my IV and it was fine. My jaw was numb due to the acculift. My thighs were surprisingly okay and I had no issue walking - it just felt like muscle pain (as if I did a really intense inner thigh work out )

Before being discharged, I was given a bag with my medicines, ointment for the incision areas, pumpkin juice, ice pack, and instructions. Hazel also told me to come back the next day for treatment/check up. I was then put into a taxi (after sleeping some more) and taken back to my accommodation.

Geez, I wrote a novel there didn't I? I'll post again about days 2-8 in a separate post so this doesn't end up 348234 pages long. If you have any questions, please ask and I'll try my best to answer them!

tl;dr: got my nose done and fats rearranged on mah face. So far so good. Fingers crossed I look awesome when I fully recover.

I arrived earlier this week and did two days of consultations (I’ll be posting separately about that in case that’s helpful) before deciding on day 2 to go with GNG Hospital. It came down to two clinics for me. In the end I chose GNG because of the consultations I had. Before arriving in SK, I was really concerned about securing a surgery date, especially coming from abroad you have no clue whether every place is going to be busy, but I found doing the in-person consultations to be invaluable information gathering. I was lucky to be able to get a surgery date with Dr. Kye for eyes and Dr. Seong for primary rhino.

PRE-OP DAY
The day before surgery, I had my blood taken, my heart rate monitored and pee in a cup. Since all the pre-op tests are done in the hospital (rather than outsourced, which is the case with many clinics), that made it easy for me and the results came back within three hours. I also got my photo taken at the Sears Portrait Studio (I kid!). There's a photo station, where one of the nurses takes your “before” photos from the front, side, 45-degree angle and from chin up.

I also put down a deposit (please note: I won’t be sharing the price of my surgeries because once you do your consult with the doctors they will have a more precise surgery plan that differs from the quote. So my surgery plan won't be the same from yours.) Then I went home and was told to get a good night’s sleep and to start fasting (as in no food, water, tiny little Altoid or anything from midnight on).

SURGERY DAY
I arrived one hour ahead of my 10 am surgery. I paid for the balance of my surgery. Met one more time with my doctors to go over the surgery plan. Dr. Kye (pronounced “Kay”) was my under eye blepharoplasty (I have dark circles and slight baggage, so to speak) and fat graft surgeon. And Dr. Seong (pronounced “Song”) was my primary rhino to do bridge augmentation with ultra soft silicone, tip plasty and osteotomy. I saw Dr. Kye first, then Dr. Seong, who reassured me by grasping my hands and laughing when I wished him luck and myself some luck.

Next I went up to the eighth floor into my patient room to change into my hospital clothes and wash my face. I was taken to the 7th floor (I think) and did one final pre-surgery procedure: the air chamber and then passed through to the surgery room. Two nurses were moving at a lightning pace around me, then the female anesthesiologist showed up with the mask. Hazel, who was standing outside the surgery room told me to breathe deeply into the mask. That was the last thing I remember.

POST-OP
I woke up to the sounds of some dude moaning in the post-op patient room. My vision was still blurry and I was a little disoriented but as soon as I regained consciousness I remember seeing Dr. Seong’s smiling face and hearing Hazel voice calling me. I was sat up and put into a wheelchair. Like a video game, I was wheeled at what felt like lightning speed back to my room. When I was put into bed and looked at the clock, it was 6 pm!

My post-op face wasn’t too terrible: light green bruising around the eyes and a nose cast and general puffiness. I remember my heels really feeling sore. I was so fixated by my heel pain that I temporarily forgot my mouth was really dry and my throat felt a little sore.

I was told I could drink water at 7:10 pm and eat at 9 pm. Most of the time, I was in a daze, watching the clock in my room until I could drink water. Hazel stayed with me for a while, which I appreciated. Later I was served pumpkin porridge came for dinner. Even though I couldn’t taste it, I still downed it like a boss. Then I got a IV drip of painkillers at 11 pm to help me manage the pain, which was mostly a dull ache in my nose and went to sleep. I couldn't imagine going back to the place I was staying after surgery, and very appreciative I got to stay overnight at the hospital and let the nurses take care of me.

Hazel told me everything went according to the surgery plan, and that I was her first patient to come to from general anesthesia very gently, like waking up after a good dream. Haha, I’ll take that as a compliment.

@jacobjarred30: I have silicone for bridge and my own nasal cartilage for tip right now. I don't know what Dr would recommend for the materials, since mine is revision. I don't think I have much choices. But I hope I can use my own cartilage again for tip.

ok! I am wondering did you have any problems with your silicone bridge? I am nervous to get that, because I have heard of infection etc.

My full procedure consisted of:
Open Rhinoplasty
Bridge augmentation with soft silicone
Tip plasty with ear cartilage (septal cartilage was the first choice, but I didn't have enough)
Alar reduction

My doctor reshaped the cartilage surrounding the inner edge of my nostrils into a sharper curve, which gives the result of a more vertically elongated nostril. He didn't specify exactly how he cut and reshaped the outer portion of the alar, but the scar at the base of my nose suggests he took a portion of it away from the bottom bit.

I can definitely sympathize with your worry. The nose is such a central feature of the face and even a tiny tweak can completely make or break the whole image.

One thing to consider: even if you choose to forgo an implant, the risk of infection is still present. Personally I chose the whole shebang as I set aside such a substantial amount of time and money; I didn't want to compromise on my dream nose only to be potentially displeased afterwards and require a round two.

The benefit of a silicon implant is the relative ease of removal or adjustment if any complications occur. A major factor of my ease towards my decision was the trust my doctor was able to cultivate. I spent two days visiting five clinics, and all but one recommended an osteotomy. Dr. Kang was the only doctor who took a CT scan and informed me that my nose bones were actually quite small despite my deceptively wide nose and that no osteotomy would be required. He also pointed out my (previously undiscovered) deviated septum. Because of his thorough diagnosis and understanding of my preferred aesthetic, I felt comfortable going into the procedure.

As always your choice of doctor is the most important one you'll make. You're putting your physical and mental health into his hands after all! A skilled surgeon will greatly minimize the risk of any potential issues.

Now I have heard all of the horror stories about ID, and I have made it very clear to stay away. However I have not seemed to have heard any horror stories or negative reviews about them recently. I followed them on Instagram just to see how they were doing, and based off what I saw their results seem to be pretty good.

Overall I have to say rather than being nervous, I couldn't wait to have it done. I've had a complex about my nose for as long as I can remember and the psychological benefit of no longer feeling self-conscious every minute of the day is intensely liberating.

As for the implant, I wanted a taller bridge and a more elegant slope which could only be achieved with some sort of augmentation. Goretex is difficult to correct/remove if something goes wrong and I was not interested in supplementing with rib cartilage either which left silicon as my preferred choice.

Clearly you made a excellent choice. I know exactly what you mean about the physiological effect of something bothering you. I hate my nose! I like my face, but my nose is just so unattractive in my opinion. However, I am really scared about using an implant because I do not want to get a infection or for the implant to extrude.

The aftercare has been very good. After the operation, I stayed at the hospital overnight in my own room with humidifier and if I needed anything I could call a nurse just by tapping a button by my bed. Afterwards you get treatment to reduce swelling in a high pressure air tank and another with red light exposure. They also give you ice packs to place over your eyes and enough medication to last two weeks, which also help with the recovery.

So the costs for my procedures were 6M KRW. I had a lot done so I think it's reasonable. It's possible to get a discount if they have a promotion running when you visit and they can also help you with getting the tax refunded if you are coming from overseas.
