  2. I already felt like it was long time ago when I got the surgery, but I remember every little detail while I was there.  I was just talking to my Korean friend last night and she asked about my face now. I clearly remember when I had to buy a T-card from the airport and how I wasn't able to communicate at all with the convenient store guy. I also remember having to get a new wifi egg because it was not working three days in. I remember the train rides, the mountain trips, and visiting lots of places in and out of Seoul. The saddest part was I wasn't able to eat anything due to the surgery. I miss the days so much. I just found out it is already half a year ago when I got my vline, meaning I can essentially fly back and have my pin removed.

I took some photo today after a run. My skin was a bit red due to the wind. btw, I just watched Itaewon class, and I was amused by Kwon Nara's jaw line, but I am glad I asked to have 2cm left for my mandible. I think 1cm maybe too much for my face.

  3. In part 1, I forgot to mention I was required to remove nail polish for both hands and toes. I was given a neck pillow before the surgery, so I didn’t need to bring one there. I was also able to keep the pillow afterwards.

Like I said in my last post, I had terrible nausea after the surgery. It was my first surgery in my whole life. During recovery, I had a roommate who also had fc surgery, but she had 2jaw and vline by Dr. Shin. We were there for two nights together.  There was a sign telling me when I can start drinking water, usually is about 4 hours post-op. The nurse came in and gave my roommate a syringe to drink her water, but I was just given a cup. Usually after vline, people can open their mouths a bit and drink water, but my front teeth were touching my lips quite closely and I was not able to get any water in my mouth. There was also a metal piece I was wearing to support my chin, and it further against me to open my mouth. Lena was there after the surgery for quite a while, asking me how I felt and all. I told her that I was not able to drink my water and she asked the nurse to give me a syringe which is primarily used for 2jaw patient. I was able to drink afterwards. Lena was a very nice persona and she spent a great amount of time sitting in the room and talking to me. Before she left, she invited the nightshift nurse to our group chat, so if I had any concern, they could translate for me to the nurse. The nurse can understand English actually but that was just more efficient and helped me to get what I needed precisely. I really liked this. It was like this for the second day and night too. The nurse from the first night was more caring than the daytime and 2nd nightshift nurse though. They had a TV for each patient, but I was honestly too tired to watch. I was focusing on drinking more water and sleeping.

I forgot to mention, Lena helped me to run down to the pharmacy to buy nutritional drinks and because I was not able to get out of bed, I couldn’t get my wallet out of the locker, but she paid for me at the time. I did return the money to her afterwards. She did help me to run up and down to talk to nurses, buy drinks and all kinds of other things. Thinking back, I think with the disability after the surgery, having a support system and a group of people who are so willing to help means SO MUCH! Like I mentioned before, this was partially why I didn’t choose TFD. There, the staff who took me to get x-ray walked as she dragged her feet (not sure how to say it). The impression I was given was low energy and not happy with her job. Or maybe she was sick. Anyhow, this is something I considered important as I was there alone. Hye In came in my room and said bye before she went home. It was very sweet.

The first night was better than expected. All medications were injected via IV and this was the same for the rest of the hospitalization. I would not able to insert those pills in my mouth to be honest. I was glad I was there for 2 nights so at least I could get my pain killers and antibiotics on time and effortlessly. Nurse also helped to change the ice pack regularly.

On Saturday, I was able to drink a lot more water, and I was managed to walk a lot in the hallway. The hallway wasn’t big but there was only me and my roommate on Saturday. Other rooms’ patients left in that morning. The nurse took me to get deswelling treatment and Dr. Shin disinfected my mouth. At this time, the medal piece for my chin had removed. I was taken to get my x-ray and CT Scan, and then back to the recovery room. Hye In came to say hi in the morning before work. Daytime nurse was very young, but she did her job, just not as caring as the first night nurse. Ask them to inject the med slower if you felt the pressure too much. Lena added her to the group chat as well. During that day, my face probably swelled up more and I felt the pressure against the compression band. I had the non-adjustable band. My roommate who did 2jaw had the adjustable one. I asked if I could have the adjustable one, because at that time, my chin was hurting, and I felt SUPER uncomfortable in it. I messaged in the group chat and I believed Lena spoke to the doctor. Dr. Shin gave me the adjustable one the next morning after disinfecting my mouth. Hye In came to check in on me before she left work on Saturday and confirmed my appointment times for the following day.

On Sunday morning at 6am, the nurse sent me for deswelling treatment and at 8am, I saw Dr. Shin. We started to pack up our things and changed to normal clothes (the zip-up shirts) at 9am. I had a backpack, a toll bag, a case of nutritional drinks, and a paper bag given by the clinic. It was too much to bring home honestly. I was tempting to leave some there and picked them back up on Monday. Anyhow, the subway wasn’t busy at all and the weather that morning was a bit cool, but I was managed to bring everything back home. So please don’t bring things that are not necessary. They had pretty much everything I needed at the clinic.

I will try to upload my x-ray, CT, and some recovery photo along with this.

    (words wrote in Korea)
I just did my V-line surgery last Friday, and I figured it would the right time for me to give back to the community. I am still in recovery, so I am not sure how my result may turn out eventually, but since I have been lurking in various forums and receiving helps from so many people for a very long time, I am also hoping to be the one to share my experience of this unforgettable and challenging journey.

As in my previous post, I booked several appointments with different clinics for my facial contour surgery before landing in Korea. My main interest was to visit the dental surgeon’s clinics. I landed in Korea on Nov.1st at 1am, and I booked a return ticket back to Canada on Nov.12th, in case I ended up not feeling comfortable getting the surgery. If I was ready to proceed, I was also ready to reschedule my flight to the end of November, enough time for recovery. After several online consultations, I heard the recovery time would be approximately 2 weeks, and thankfully my work and school schedules allowed me to do this. I was hoping to finish my consultation within two days, Nov.1st and Nov.2nd, but it didn’t go well as planned. However, you could look forward to how things got sorted out …it was a very long and unexpected event.

My concern: wide lower face, asymmetry
Preference: Shin Sae Kyeong’s face, natural looking

On Nov. 1st, I visited TL Plastic Surgery and the Face Dental. TL was the only consultation I had that was not from a dental surgeon’s clinic. I visited there because my Korean friend got procedure done there (not fc though). The overall experience was quite pleasant. There was no consultation fee and I had x-ray and CT scan done prior to speaking with the consultant and the doctor. The consultant speaks fluent English and she suggested me to only get my mandible done. After speaking to her for about 20 minutes, we got to speak to the doctor. The doctor suggested getting the chin shaved off a bit too so that my chin wouldn’t look big relatively after shaving off the mandible. His reason was exactly the same as what I thought. I don’t have a big chin, and Shin Sae Kyeong has a somewhat rounded chin as well, but I did concern about proportion. The method he applied on me was the long curve shaving (I’m not entirely sure about the technical term, so please don’t quote me on that )

Later in the afternoon, I visited The Face Dental, one of the most popular choice among foreigners and on Kakaotalk. I visited Dr. Lee, and he laid out two solutions. One is to get double jaw and the other is to have t-osteotomy and mandibular reduction. My lip and chin are slightly protruded, and I understood why Dr. Lee would recommend double jaw for me. Dr. Lee discussed my nerve endings and vessels on my jaw. Dr. Lee spoke English and there was no middle person during the consultation, so things were pretty straight forward. The clinic’s exam room is one floor above the consulting floor. I walked the stairs to that little exam room to get my x-ray and CT scan done. The staff was friendly but not energetic. The clinic was a bit quiet when I was there with my friend. Maybe it was near closing hour. Consultation fee was 30,000 krw. The quote for the surgery was higher than online consultation if I paid by card. They offered discount if I paid by cash but still on the higher end of the range given online. Overall, I can understand why people choose TFD, but I wasn’t that impressed. I felt like a medical translator was needed to give me further explanations on certain topics. My medical concerns were not fully explained. My friend who went with me actually prefer TL’s vibe more after the first day consultation. Also, I will come back to this and re-mention about the staff and how it made another contributing factor in why I didn’t choose to go there.

    Second day was a lot.

Zeah was very busy and very humid, not sure why. They didn’t have an English translator and my friend was the one who helped to translate, which I felt really bad for. Medical terms and clinical settings are professional language and difficult to translate, especially my friend doesn’t know much about jaw surgery. A simple analogy would be - you wouldn’t go to a family doctor who cannot communicate with you. I was quite disappointed to be honest. I booked with their consultation and said I needed a translator, but they didn’t end up having one. The consultation fee was 100,000 krw, the highest one among all the clinics I visited. The doctor recommended me to get double jaw, despite knowing I am leaving the country within less than a month. My Korean friend also felt like the doctor was a bit pushy (something I wouldn’t feel if I am there alone since I don’t speak the language)

As mentioned in the group chat, I talked about Jum Dental with quite so much detail. It was the worst experience of all. During online consultation, I specifically asked for a translator, and they said ‘sure’. When I got there, the form was only in Korean and my friend was the one ended up helping me to fill out the forms, which I felt really bad for. I attempted to leave at that time as I thought they may not have a translator to help for consultation. My friend asked the front desk lady and she said the doctor could speak English. The consultation fee was 50,000 krw. The consultation with the doctor was a super cringy experience. A couple of jokes were made during the consultation, but they were rather inappropriate. Doctor spoke good casual English but definitely not sufficient to explain medical concerns. If language is a barrier, a medical translator is a must. I was planning to get surgery, not here to play around…  anyways, my friend who is the most easy-going person got irritated from visiting this place…

Last appointment I visited on that day was EverM Dental. They are near Sinsa station and they have separate floors for exams, consultations and surgeries. Consultation fee was 50,000 krw. They do not have an English translator so communicating with them was a huge struggle. The doctor explained things quite nicely with plenty of details. He was the first dental surgeon didn’t say to get double jaw. Instead, he suggested to move back the chin just by a bit based on my preference. I was pretty set with them after seeing the doctor. As most people suggested on this forum as well as in the Kakaotalk chat, the most important part is the doctor, not the staff. I listened and tried my best to communicate with his staff. Unfortunately, the professionalism of his staff was very subpar. She lied and lied over time. I video chatted with my family everyday telling them what happened. My friends and I also talked about it at home with her parents. They all think the staff I was communicating with was full of lies. Near the end, my friend’s mother had to help me out to communicate with the clinic through a Korean consultant. I felt so bad because she literally had to make phone calls and communicated back and forth with them during her work hours. After everything somewhat sorted out, this staff who was in charge of my case relapsed again!! My friend’s mom and my parents all suggested me to keep looking for other clinics. Because if communication is a barrier, you could imagine the aftercare and all that associated with the surgery. Also, why give your money to someone who is so incompetent and disrespectful?

On Saturday night, my friend and her parents helped me to find new clinics, and after asking people on Kakaotalk, I decided to give one more shot, visiting EU Dental. Remember I said I may not end up getting any surgery for this trip if I cannot find a place I am comfortable with? Yeah, that was exactly what I thought. Before coming to Korea, I thought I would struggle to select the best one among all, but that was entirely the opposite. It was so different between clinics. Some really lowered my expectation. I didn’t expect much, because I would simply not put myself on the table if I am not confident with the doctor and the staff.

Fast forward to Nov. 6th , I booked an appointment the night before with EU after talking to my parents and my friend’s family. EU is in the same building of the Starbucks right outside of exit 1 of Sinsa Station. It was the first appointment that I actually went in by myself. My friend had an interview that day. Thankfully, it wasn’t hard to find. It is a newer building comparing to other clinics I visited. I couldn’t decide to see Dr. Kim or Dr. Shin when they asked me online. I wanted to see both but the online consultation said to better just see one based on the style I like. Dr. Shin was away for a conference on Nov. 6th so my first appointment was to meet Dr. Kim. I was speaking to Kayla, their English translator at the beginning and she asked my concerns and my preference. She wrote them all done very neatly (I really care about details I suppose) on my file before I got to see Dr. Kim. I waited for about half an hour as Dr. Kim had an operation that day. During that time, Kayla was talking to me the whole time, sharing their clinic’s results to me and the people who visited there. I was not alone. I guess that was one of the biggest differences between their clinic and the others I have visited. I was never left alone. I think that was quite important to me. Dr. Kim finally came, and he had some casual English conversation with me. Once he started discussing my medical case, he turned to speak in Korean and Kayla was translating information quite smoothly. I actually liked that about their system, because medical issue has to be explained with professional language especially since I am working in the same field. Similar to EverM, Dr. Kim didn’t talk about double jaw at all. He said my facial bones are lined up pretty well and my bite is good, but he also noticed the position of my chin as well as the thickness of my mandibular bone. My right side is thicker than the left side and that contributes to my asymmetry. He also noticed my mandibular arch being a bit outward on the right side which also contributes to how my right face looks bigger from the outside. I knew Dr. Kim was good at giving dramatic result, but I preferred natural result. He asked whether I wanted to keep 1cm or 2cm of my mandibular bone, and I said 2cm. At the end, he said to Kayla to arrange an appointment with Dr. Shin for the next day, since he wanted me to find a doctor I truly confident with. My confidence about getting surgery in Korea was slowing gaining back after seeing Dr. Kim but I wasn’t entirely sure. I went home that night and talked to my friend’s family as well as my parents.

(below are written after I flew back home)

The next day morning, I saw Dr. Shin and Kayla was the translator. He asked what my preference was and said if I am comfortable with my lips, I don’t need 2jaw, but if that’s a concern for me, I need it that. I understood quite well. I like natural result, a result that still can well represents me. After seeing Dr. Shin, I told Kayla that I decided to go with Dr. Kim. I paid 500,000 krw by credit card that day and had blood test and x-ray and EKG done. There were some glitches happened during this. Before Kayla left, she told me I would have to pay for x-ray and EKG as well as medications. After she left, I was taken care by a different staff who mainly worked at the front desk who spoke fluent English, and I was asked to pay for my blood test because he said they had to send my blood test to a different hospital since it was ‘late’. I said to him, if I paid that out of pocket for the blood test, do I get a tax receipt from the lab as well? He said to me I would have to pay him instead … okay, I immediately noticed something was going off the path. I suspected he was a new staff and I also didn’t want to give him a hard time since he was not in charge of my case before. Kayla was the one who was with me the whole time, and I guess he wouldn’t know what Kayla told me before. So rather than playing with words, I texted in the group chat where Kayla and a different staff were there and expressed my concern. Thankfully, they resolved the issue very promptly. A different front desk staff who also spoke fluent English, Hye In, brought me to the hospital crossed the street and I had my x-ray and EKG there. Hye In was super friendly and warm-hearted.

At that night, my friend’s family took me out for hand-made tofu soup, and it was so good. I probably ate too much, hehe. I started to fast at midnight. I brought a box of Kleenex, some facial wipes, two zip-up shirts, Vaseline, face cream, hand cream, a blanket, phone charger, laptop and more… I OVERPACKED. Please don’t overpack like me. I didn’t use my laptop at all. The humidity at the clinic was perfect and I didn’t use any cream lol

The next day at 1pm, I had a pre-op meeting with Dr. Kim and he asked assured that I wanted to have 2cm left on my mandible. I had 3.5 cm to begin with, so I got removed 1.5cm on each side. He drew some marks on my mandible and my chin. My chin was slightly off- centre so he was going to fix it too.

Hye In and Kayla talked to me in the recovery room and after I changed to my gown and rinsed my mouth. The other English-speaking staff Lena came in and gave me a lot of baby wipes. She talked to me the entire time while I was waiting for the surgery.  At 2:30pm, Hye In brought me to the surgery room and the room was soooooooo COLD. She stood by the door and translated things to me while the nurses were prep-ing on me. My legs were shaking the entire time b/c it was that cold. Dr. Kang the anesthesiologist came in and put a mask about 5 inch above my face. I remembered I breathed in twice and everything I saw started turning and I decided to close my eyes and I fell asleep. I woke up at 5:55pm. I remembered this because I dropped my phone under my bed and some staff I couldn’t remember picked it up for me and I took a photo and sent to my dad immediately. My lovely friend came to the room at 6pm and I was crying LOL I had really bad nausea after waking up and I was hugging my trash can for an hour…

okay… I think I will continue later… have to go to bed and prepare lunch for tomorrow now.

  5. Hello everyone,

I am flying to Korea soon and here is what I booked for consultations thus far:

    First day:

    12pm TL PS

    2pm Jum Dental

    4pm The Face Dental

    Second day:

    12pm Zeah Dental

    2pm EverM Dental

    Braun ps??

First question, does this plan seem reasonable?

In short, I am getting FC done and these are the clinics I am booking to visit. Dental clinics are pretty set but since I heard good things about BraunPs and seeing their publications on their site, I am considering to visit them but I cannot seem to find a time to see them... Braun's doctor is leaving at 4pm for a conference overseas and not coming back till a couple days later, which also means if I am planning to get ps the same trip, I have to wait longer for Braun's doctor till he's back to Korea. Do you think it is still worth a visit to Braunps? The consultant from there also told me their consultation takes about 2 hrs which also means I have to see them the last to ensure I am not delaying my planned schedule.

Also, Braunps is located at the same building as Jum Dental so the most ideal is to see them on the first day. I tried to move The Face Dental but it didn't work out since the clinic finishes at 4pm on the second day. I was thinking moving TL to another day, not the second day, because for the same reason, they are also close at 4pm on the second day. So here comes to my ultimate question, should I visit TLps or Braunps given only one available time slot. If I am not seeing Braunps within the two days, I won't see them at all, since the doctor is not flying back to Korea till five days after. I could visit TLps another day but I really doubt I would end up doing that. Ultimately, it is which clinic that would possibility give me the best and most valuable advice when I visit them.

Please share your opinion. Thank you!!

Hi Nikki, there are going to be a lot of choices for facials, so it depends upon your goal:

    Example Goals:

    • Treating yourself to day of wellness and skin boost or pick me (short-term).
    • Treating some skin trouble spots to make "progress" towards lasting alleviation.

I say "progress" because skin treatments usually need to be continued with follow up sessions. But depending upon the concern and ones budget, some treatment packages / stacks can give good results with only one or two sessions, but usually effective methods are also reflected by their price and can be more aggressive (downtime / recovery time)

In terms of places to get facials in Seoul, they can be organized into 3 categories.

    1) Dermatology Clinics

    • Can perform laser treatments along side facials
    • Treatments can be medical grade (i.e. intensive)
    • Cost may be higher

Good for clinical methods that make an lasting improvement, but depends on treatment method chosen.

    2) Esthetician Boutiques

    • Treatments are facials & massages with various masks, serums, clay, steam, etc...
    • Rejuvenating and noticeable glow immediately after
    • Price range depending upon small shop vs high-end luxury spot.

Good for general facial treatment for a one-day pick me up / relaxation.

    3) Beauty Spas

    • Beauty & wellness with larger options menu for treatments (face & body).
    • Usually longer treatment times (2 hours to full day)
    • Price range depending upon small shop vs high-end luxury spot.

Good for combining relaxation and facial for one-day pick me up / relaxation.

    Thank you Kino!!

i think I am looking at Esthetician boutiques or beauty spas. Any recommendation?

    Thanks!

Yeah, i didn't know too because most of the plastic surgeons i asked (even the one i went to in my country for transconjunctival undereye bag removal subsequently) told me there is no correlation between the two.

Yup naturalism is kinda higher priced. Not the most expensive clinic out there but not super affordable like places like Namu or Opera etc. Their head doctor for rhino is Dr Kim Deok Jung,  the one i had my last minute f2f consult with. He's pretty nice.

Thank you for the info girl. When are you going to get your rhino? i am thinking about consulting in April and hopefully I could find one i like and get the surgery on the same trip.

Hey Nikki, I only went for consults. Have not done any nose surgery yet, still abit chicken and deciding wether to touch my nose or not.

For eyes, I am thinking of revision next year (hopefully!), depending on my work schedule, and condition of my eyes because i just got an eye check appointment by an ophthalmologist this week, and she told me I have very dry eyes, DES could have been a contributing factor. 😭 So i may have to see if my eye dryness improves before deciding when to do revision.

I see i see! I didn't know DES would be a contributing factor. Are you going to get rhino at the same time? I was checking out naturalism. Their price seems to be more than other clinics. Do you know who is the head doctor for rhino?

Now I'll talk about my eye surgery consults. I went to MVP, Namu and Naturalism in that order.

    1) MVP

    MVP (Dr Seo)

Consult duration coupled with nose consult: about 25mins

MVP is where I did my primary DES hence I went back for a review since I am 6 months post op, and also to ask Dr Seo about revision since I felt my crease is hooded over.

Dr Seo assessed my eyes and told me that if i wanted revision to make my crease more obvious while still maintaining a tapered crease, he will remove a but more skin to reveal more of my crease. This will be done by re-opening my existing creaseline. He and my consultant Elizabeth did tell me that I cannot remove too much skin or else I won't be able to close my eyes fully, since pre-op I already did not have fully closed eyelids (there was a slight gap when I closed my eyes back pre-DES), and also due to my natural eye socket shape and low distance between my brows and eyes, too high a crease and too much skin removal is not suitable for me. If I wanted a higher crease line from the one I have currently, the new crease will end up parallel but a bit higher, and Dr also said he will cut along the same incision line to increase the size of crease. Dr did not mention i needed any ptosis correction nor epicanthoplasty, just skin removal.

Dr Seo advised me to wait for longer before doing revision to see how much my eyelid skin has stretched out, which may help the scar on the inner corner of my right eye too. Since that was also my concern - whether the scar is a permanent keloid formation. He told me the scar will flatten and smoothen out with more time.

Recovery time would be the same or a little bit longer from primary DES, which is about a week. Stitch removal done at 5 days post op. Like my primary surgery, incisional DES revision will be done under local anaesthesia and twilight sedation.

Since I did my primary surgery at MVP, the revision would be done for free and I only have to pay for anaesthesia cost of 300,000 won. Medications, post op care of cleaning, deswelling laser and vitamin drips are included into the cost. And this revision period is valid for 2 years.

    2) Namu

    Namu (Dr Joung Soo Woo)

Consult duration coupled with nose consult: about 25mins

Dr Joung advised that if I wanted a more obvious crease,  he will redo my creaseline by cutting a bit higher and removing abit of skin. It'll also be done full incisional and he said my incision line from primary surgery will still remain but not be very obvious. The new crease will still be an in-out tapered fold. Epicanthoplasty was recommended to me to open up and remove abit of mongolian fold, and ptosis correction for both eyes to balance out my eyes. Dr says my right eye opening power is a bit weaker hence the inner corner eyelid scar seems obvious. I asked about the scar and he told me that it will soften, but my right eye crease seems a bit loosened due to the scar.

Like Dr Seo at MVP, Dr Joung said I cannot remove too much skin or go too high a crease or else I cannot close my eyes, because structurally I don't have a lot of eyelid space between brows, and also because of my eye socket bone. A much higher crease will be too close to my socket bone which will look unnatural and ugly. Dr was frank with me and said that due to my eye structure, I will still have some skin covering over even with revision.

In fact, Dr was very honest and told me that he didn't think my case is that bad that it seriously needs revision so he was just providing a neutral opinion about revision surgery and the choice to revise is up to me. Claire the consultant (Linda wasn't around when I went so they assigned me Claire instead) also told me that Dr Joung is a doctor who is very honest with patients about what he thinks they do and don't need for surgery.

Stitch removal will be done 1 week post op. Cost for revision with all procedures (epi, ptosis and des) will be 3 mil won, and no need to pay tax, and some discount is possible in exchange for photos of my eyes.

I didn't ask about aftercare provided but I suppose it should be the same that other girls who went to Namu have received, the deswelling laser/shots etc. As I earlier mentioned, I was surprised that my consult with Dr Joung for eyes lasted a bit longer than for nose.

    3) Naturalism

    Naturalism (Dr Jung Minsoo)

Consult duration: about 20mins, went with a translator

I initially wanted to consult with Dr Go Eung Yeol, one of the head doctors who specializes in eyelid surgery but unfortunately he was on vacation. Hence, I decided to book an appointment to consult with Dr Jung after the clinic's recommendation for an alternative doctor for eyes, and also after I saw a korean girl's DES result in a korean Kakao chatroom, which was done by Dr Jung and looked good to me.

Dr Jung was pretty quiet when he came to the consultation room and I guess he wasn't expecting to a foreign patient to book an appointment with him for consultation since he looked a bit puzzled at first. But he was nice enough and was honest and straight to the point about my options for revision. Even though he isn't a head doctor at the clinic and he was the youngest doctor out of all the surgeons I had consulted (perhaps in his mid 30s?), I felt he was very professional in his honest opinions regarding revision and he seemed to know his stuff really well.

Dr Jung assessed my eyelids and told me that my eyelids have limitation as to how much bigger my crease can be, as I have thick skin. My hooded lids now is due to thick skin and not fat. In addition, I am also limited by the low eyelid space between my eyelids and brows, which echoes MVP and Namu's opinions.

Dr Jung drew out on paper and presented me 2 options for revision surgery to get a more obvious crease. 1st option was to revise my crease by cutting a higher line above my existing one, but then I will have 2 scars visible after that. 2nd option was to reopen my existing crease and cut away a bit more skin but not too much because i don't have much to cut away or else I cannot close my eyes properly permanently (same as MVP's advice). Dr recommended me to go for the 2nd option as going for the 1st option may cause me to end up with sausage eyes or lids still hooding over due to my skin.

Dr also suggest to do ptosis correction as he said I looked a bit sleepy eyed, and epicanthoplasty to remove the a bit of the mongolian fold and open up inner corner a bit so my crease appears a little more prominent as an in-out fold.

During the revision, Dr said he will tighten up the right side where there is the scar as it appears loose due to the scar tissue, and remove the scar tissue a bit. Because I am prone to scarring, the same problem of raised scar could recur. Like what the other 2 clinics said, Dr Jung told me that even with revision to make the crease more visible, there is chance that my skin may hood over again in future due to my thick eyelid skin. Due to my natural eye shape, I also cannot have too high a crease because it will look unnatural and sausage-like on me.

Stitches removal done at 1 week post op. Price was 5.17 mil won cash price for all procedures (epi, ptosis and revision DES). Price is inclusive of medications and aftercare of deswelling treatments.

All in all, for eye consults, the doctors had the same opinion that I needed to remove a bit more skin to make my crease more visible, and that I cannot go for too high creases due to my eye socket limitatio/ns.

Girl! May I know were you ended up going?

Hi Nikki, that's a bummer, but we'll help you get a new short list. What are some of your goals for your nose? Is it first time nose surgery?

Yes Kino! This is going to be my first rhino. I will post what I want. I prefer natural style. The second and third pictures are from myself. I would love to have a list so I could restart the research process. Thank you!

  11. Hello everyone, I was once thought I would go to 101ps for sure. I heard that Dr. Paik is leaving Korea and he will no longer operate.  I hate to say, but I have to start the research process all over again, quite frustrating! I am looking for recommendations for rhino doctors. I would be so happy if you could share with me ones you think they are worth checking out of. Thank you!!

If you keep hearing the same recommendation, it's probably because those are most viable options, even though they may not be options you like. You want to avoid "doctor shopping" which is looking for the surgeon who will just say yes because that may not be what's best for you.

Thank Jabba! These are very helpful!

I am very open minded regarding what to use for my bridge and I will go with what the doctor suggests. The only thing I won't get is rib cartilage. I also prefer using less artificial implants like silicon if possible. I am not looking to have a dramatic lift for my nose bridge so I am hoping to find a surgeon who use septal cartilage often and potentially with more experience. Through consulting online, I was suggested with silicon implants most of the time and only a few cases mentioned about septum. I want to get opinion from a doctor who uses septal cartilage often.

  13. Hello sisters!

I am planning a trip to Korea for a primary rhino possibly after the winter. I didn't start looking for information and reviews until about a month ago. Right now I have contacted just five clinics, but I received various treatment plans/suggestions. When I first contacted them, I talked about I wanted a rhino surgery and would prefer not to have too much artificial implant. I also sent them pictures of my own face and the nose of my preference.

Namu recommended silicon implant at the beginning and I said i would prefer not to have artificial implant if possible. After a while, the consultant said my mid face is sunken and my mouth is protruded so these should be my main concerns. She said that a rhino alone would only make my nose looked nice but not the whole facial view, because of my sunken mid face. She also claimed that sunken face would make the nose looking flat from the side view. In another word, a tall nose might not seem as prominent due to a sunken mid face. Therefore, I was recommended with mid face augmentation and a rhino.

ps101 said to have tip plasty using ear cartilage and if I would like a taller bridge, they suggested silicon implant or dermal fat.

The other clinics all suggested both bridge and tip surgery and all of them recommended artificial implant for nose bridge. I have read about various pros and cons among different types of implants (artificial and analogous) for nose bridge and it seems like there is no such ideal materiel available. Please share you thoughts if you don't mind.

Before, I tended to think the opposite of Namu so I was very surprised when they told me about my face and how it affects the looking of my nose. I thought a nose would look more prominent on flatter cheeks/faces. Wouldn't the prominent cheeks block the view of the nose looking from the side? I wasn't aware of face's sunken at all in the past, and I only thought about my flat nose.

I heard 101 is quite conservative, which I am fine with, as long as they are able to achieve my desire look from what I have, but I am unsure about this part, since there is no picture available to see. I am not sure if what I want is fitting their frame.

I am looking for suggestions on other clinics too, so I would really appreciate if someone could share their thoughts.

Pictures of myself and the nose of my preference are attached.

    Thank you for you time,

    Good day.
