zaza13333
They will know for sure it’s impossible for them not doing test about that I recommend your friend not hiding it It’s risky ☹️
karema
They might ask for sickness something like that before consultation or surgery. or they will ask for the letter from your friend about the health condition/ or doctors' letter of your family doctor. I think this would be case by case and why don't you ask the PS with the health condition examination result?
bonabona
You must inform this... Surgery involves making incision so therefore blood... Other people's safety is at risk
Livflorence
They will do blood test. I am sure they will able to find out. But it will be a good idea to declare. All the best!
jphuoc
Exactly. Be considerate of the healthcare providers taking care of you. Preprocedural blood tests do not include HIV screening...
Livflorence
The blood test does include HIV checks. This is important as GA is involved. Some clinics doesn’t do the blood test if it’s sedation but hospital will do blood test be it GA or sedation and it includes checking of HIV as well. honeymilktea
You have to disclose that you have HIV, if one of the healthcare praticioners were to be affected due to lack of disclosure there would be legal implications
Livflorence
She is right, disclose and embrace it! They will keep it confidential.
jphuoc
I practice anesthesia in the US, and HIV screening is not routine. The virus does not affect my anesthetic plan.
