My experience of using an individual/private agent for my PS in Korea

Recommended Posts

*First, I would like to make a disclaimer that this post is not sponsored. I am doing this because I genuinely enjoyed my experience with my agent and I received a lot of support and help on PF when I was going through my research/surgery/recovery and this is my way of giving back*

I am 29 years old female living in Canada. I started doing PS research in February 2019, as I became more serious about getting the procedure done, I knew I would feel better if I had someone accompany me along this journey. Naturally, I was influenced by the Youtubers and contacted Docfinder Korea. They were helpful but their emails were extremely copy and paste. They also pressured me to pay deposit before even meeting any of the surgeons. My original plan was to fly to Korea in May, have my consultation at Banobagi and have the surgery the next day. I paid my deposit to Banobagi through Docfinder. Then I realized, this plan may work for others, but it is too rushed for me. I wanted more face to face consultations before making my final decision – at the end of the day, I only have one face, I didn’t want to choose a clinic because Youtubers said they were great. I told Docfinder to cancel my appointment and received 80% of my deposit back. Docfinder did not once ask me why I wanted to cancel, so naturally I knew they are a big cooperation and did not care to lose me as a client.

New Plan

As I continued to do my research on PF, I decided I would fly to Korea in April to have my consultations and have my surgery in May. Since I’ve never been to Korea before, I started a thread and asked what would be the best way to navigate and bargain with clinics. I met Andrix from the U.S who had his PS the year before and had returned for touch up. Andrix introduced me to Dukki. Dukki is a local Korean who speaks fluent English. He works as an experienced, certified and licensed individual agent who is not bias to any clinics that takes you to whichever clinics you want to consult with.

I met Dukki when I arrived in April. At first, I was skeptical as I’ve heard unpleasant experiences about hiring an agent on PF but since I had nothing to lose, I decided to trust Andrix and Dukki and see how it goes. Both Andrix and Dukki were extremely friendly. They previously arranged my consultation schedule for the one day I had in Korea and accompanied me to them all. Throughout my consultations, I did most of the talking as I had previously written down my questions and the result I was looking for. Dukki is a very experienced agent but he valued and respected my opinions and thoughts on the clinics and surgeons I wanted to meet. I am terrible with directions, it was a great relieve for me not having to worry about where and how to get to the clinics for my consultations.

I consulted with Namu, Banobagi and TFD – naturally I was overwhelmed with all the information I received from my consultations. Dukki helped me to be logical and listed all the pros and cons for each clinic with me so I could have a clearer mind and make my final decision. I took two weeks to make my decision, during that time Dukki checked in with me through Kakao but not once did I feel pressured from Dukki that I had to make the decision quickly and be locked in. The one advice he wants people to know, especially the foreigners is that “Don’t get pressured into paying deposit. Come to Korea and meet your surgeons and then make your decision”. Once I picked my clinic, I paid the deposit directly to the clinic.

I returned to Korea on May 19th, with surgery booked for the 21st. After I landed, Dukki made sure I knew how to get to my Airbnb from the airport; however it was raining and I had catch a cold during my travel in Asia, he ended up meeting me at the bus stop and drove me to the Airbnb; even though it wasn’t far from the bus stop but the gesture was greatly appreciated as it was dark and raining. The next day, Dukki met up with me to go to Namu for my final consultation/blood test and the rest of testing to ensure I was healthy for the procedure. Everything went well. Dukki then took me to a giant grocery store to buy groceries I would need for the next few days during recovery – This was also very appreciated as he had previous experience with other clients, he knew exactly what I needed to get, i.e. porridges, juice, fruits to make smoothie, yogurt…etc. Dukki told me to have a big meal that evening and have a good night rest before my surgery.

Surgery day – Dukki met me at the Airbnb and accompanied me to Namu to make sure everything is in place and that there’s no miscommunication in what kind of result I want. I felt safe having him there, I knew I was in good hands. Dukki asked Claire to take good care of me which she did, she checked up on me three times throughout the surgery and multiple times that evening when I was in the recovery room. Both Claire and Dr. Kirk told me the surgery went well – despite the uncomfortableness, I was so relieved to hear that.

Recovery – Dukki went to Namu with me for my deswelling treatments and checkups. Every time I had questions, he always said “Don’t worry, we will ask them today” – which he always remembered to ask for me. There was not once I left the clinic with unanswered questions or feeling dissatisfied. Aside from going to the clinic with me, he also took me out for various lunches and famous touristy places in Seoul to check out. But what touched my heart the most was when I broke down from being so sick of eating porridges and not being able to eat anything else, Dukki took me for pho. He knew I love noodles and Pho was easy to semi chew and swallow. That was probably one of the happiest days during my recovery in Korea.

I know most people are concerned with the possibility of paying a higher price by using an agent. I just wanted to share with the people that would like to have help/support for their PS journey to know that – I did not pay for Dukki’s service. He gets compensated from the clinic you choose, in my case it was Namu. How much? I don’t know. Do I care? I don’t care. All I know is the service and support I received were so greatly appreciated. I don’t regret it at all. I am grateful for having met Dukki throughout this very personal and important journey. Some people would argue why should he get paid at all from the clinic? Well, when a man is great and passionate at his job, why shouldn’t he get compensated for all his hard work? We all have a job, don't we?

People have asked me how much was Dukki able to bargain for me, although I am not comfortable to share the final number publicly in my post, but I was there when he bargained for me. I sat there uncomfortably because I get awkward when it comes to that sort of things, I was so glad he was there to do it for me. I can share this with you – the price I ended up paying (+ tax refund) was very reasonable. It turned out to be less than my roommate who also received FC at the TFD. (For those that don’t know, TFD has a great reputation for great results as well as giving foreigner reasonable price). At the end of the day, pricing is important, but the most important thing is choosing the right clinic and the surgeon for you and have a good “medical holiday” as Dukki would say.

This is my sincere review on my experience using a private agent for my PS journey in May – I do not get paid for writing this. I received a lot of help while I was doing my research, and this is my way of giving back to the PF community. If you are interested in getting in touch with Dukki, please feel free to DM me as I don’t want him getting lots random messages all of a sudden because of my post.

If you are interested in my experience with Namu, you can also DM me as well.

THIS IS "AIRBNB TONY" BACK AGAIN as "DUKKI"

Glad it worked out for you, but this guy basically showered you with all this service for the purpose of you writing this long review in order to play a confidence game with the forum and rebuild his past disgraced image.

First off, there's nothing wrong with agencies, specifically the sincere ones who give good advice and make things easy for people. But this guy is a basically pretending to be that now, and is actually a wolf in sheeps clothing.

He used to lie and fool people into staying at his airbnb and would become their agent without them being aware of it because he was either ashamed to be an agent or wanted to avoid responsibility of an agent.

Basically this guy:
  • Lied about being an agent in the past and made himself out to be just an airbnb host
  • He got an old guest to become his promoter and affiliate and she wrote an amazing long review
  • That review basically said he's not agent, but an anti-agent and just a helpful airbnb host
  • He did this so he could earn money as an agent without taking responsibility of being an agent
  • Another guy believed that original review written by his promoter and used his airbnb
  • Tony then got that guy to write an amazing review for him, and practically breathed down his neck to write it
  • Later that guy found out Tony lied to him about being an agent and he outed Tony and explained he's shady.
  • Other deets emerged that tony would show nude patient pics to other guests for fun, chain smoked constantly while his guests are recovering, would solicit adult entertainment venues if people were interested.
KKPEOBEE
Original promoter review that put him on the map back in the day. It later emerged this girl was a business partner:

ASHLY117
The guy who believed the above review, stayed at Tony's airbnb, and then Tony pushed him to write this review:

That guy found out the ugly truth and then updated the review:

Tony disappeared in the shadows, and is now trying to re-surface as a legit agent this time, and trying to use the name Dukki instead.

Hey,

Thanks for taking the time to reply to this thread. I am actually well aware of the reviews posted by Ashly117, I actually reached out to make sure the post was about Dukki/Tony before I went back to Korea in May. Naturally I was surprised to see the posts/reviews; however I continued and finished reading the whole entire thread which some PF users fail to do in many cases (based on reading comments on threads during my research as well as receiving questions in my DM after this post). What took away my concerns was in Ashley117's second review which you have posted there, it actually said " Again, I want to say that the experience with Tony wasn't too bad. He made my time in Korea kinda enjoyable. Everything I detailed in my previous review was true. I feel he has a good heart...but misguided. Learning the truth has changed the context drastically, which is why I retract my statements supporting him." "I would’ve supported him if he was just transparent with his motives. Ironically, if he was honest and straightforward on why he does what he does, I would’ve paid him the cut he would’ve received from the clinics".

I do not know the fully story of what others have experienced, this post was about MY experience. Dukki (which I knew his English name was Anthony but I've only called him Dukki) was honest and open with me from the very beginning. I knew he is an agent and I knew he was going to get paid somehow for his service. The things I cared about was my consultations, picking the right clinic and surgeon for myself throughout this very personal experience. He helped me with every step of the way. Like you said "give good advice and make things easier for people", he did just that for me.

As to the comment "Other deets emerged that tony would show nude patient pics to other guests for fun, chain smoked constantly while his guests are recovering, would solicit adult entertainment venues if people were interested." Dukki never showed me any pictures of his other clients, he is a smoker but he never smoked around me, he only smoked when he's waiting for me outside the building, nor did he ever mentioned any adult entertainment venues to me while I was there.

Like I said, this post was based on my experience with Dukki - It was a positive review because that's how it genuinely was for me.

I do not question other people's reviews as I am always fair and logical. I don't speak on anyone's behalf because I don't know their stories. I can understand why they would be upset if Dukki/Anthony wasn't up front with them about being an agent which seem to be the biggest factor that upset most people - but that wasn't the case for me. Everything was transparent from the beginning to the end. I am 1 month and 3 weeks post op, happy with my entire experience and happily continuing recovery back in Canada.

I don't get where this going... This is how this sounds to me:

Hey everyone, remember that creepy old Korean guy that stalked the forums, was racist, unprofessional, and made an airbnb broker trap house, where he lied about being an agent? You know the one that had his business partner/guest/client write an awesome promoter review where you had to PM the writer to get the host's contact deets. Well, despite all the shadiness and warnings I read, I decided YOLO let's use him, but not as an airbnb host. But as a trusted agent who I can rely on for dependable and honest information.

Now here's my amazing review where I leave out the fact that I knew he was that guy tied up in all that drama and controversy. Also, I'll call him Dukki instead of Tony. Not to throw you off from making that past connection or anything, but simply because that's what he told me to call him. Also, PM me for his contact details.

It's now even more suspect that you were completely aware of all his past controversy, reputation, and lies, and that you knew Dukki is Tony and you did not even bother to mention that whatsoever or make that connection until it was brought up.

Also, this whole familiar format:

Step 1: Write an amazing glowing review

Step 2: Say PM me for his details

Step 3: Respond with what basically looks like a copy and paste advertisement

This is the same thing his business partner / promoter KKPEOBEE was doing or what ASHLY117 was basically brainwashed and constantly coaxed to do it during his recovery.

Sorry, but a chain smoking, racist, who lied about what he does, and gets people like you to vouch for him as a stand up citizen, so sketch, and really pathetic he has to resort to this.

"After listening to what happened with other fellow forum members, from reflecting on my own experiences, AND from confirming with my surgeon, I feel betrayed. And so
I cannot confidently recommend him to anyone else."

"I didn’t know he would profit in such a sneaky way. All those times, I was feeling bad for this guy, and then I would buy him lots of dinners and lunches, which can drain your budget if you aren’t careful. This changes the context of decision making drastically which is very dangerous and shady."

"I will not be staying with him on my future visits to Korea."

"I’ve also recorded us having a conversation when I confronted him about all this. His general way of mumbling and stuttering and making unintelligible words should show that he’s a bit unhinged and tries to weasel his way out of basic common sense questions. Best to stay away from this guy."

"Also I would report the user @kkpeobe. She seems to be in leagues with Tony and actively PMs people around. She is indirectly responsible for causing massive problems in other people’s procedures."

A couple of things I forgot to mention but worth noting:

- This guy smokes. HARD. Second chain smoking is harmful for people recovering especially after surgery.
- This guy is racist against black people. This is very disgusting. I've heard him use the "N" word a couple of times.
- Will encourage you to pick doctors based off of their education alone (studying at SNU - Seoul National University is a good enough reason to pick a doctor in his mind) which makes no sense, as I'd rather place more weight on experience and quality of result. He pushed hard for this.

"Please use this thread to expose him whenever possible."

"His reviews make him seem like an amazing person, but I plan on reporting his Airbnb profile because I personally believe what he does is unethical."

I’m not sure what really happened to you for you to be so skeptical and had to make an account on here just to question everything I wrote in my own words from my own experience.

You said not to discourage people from using agents that are sincere, offer help and explain what they do from the get go - that’s exactly what happened to me in my case. We met in April and he explained how his job/service works and I took the help that was offered because I wanted the help.

I was in Korea with 6 other people and we hung out everyday and never once I tried to push and sell Dukki’s service to them. They knew I used his service and the help was there if they wanted and it was never brought up again. If I was his promoter, I don’t think I did a great job at selling him to my friends who all got surgeries when we were in Korea.

You can express your feelings and opinions but everything I wrote was sincere and honest from what I experienced - not someone else, not Ashley, not John Doe, not you, but me.

And as to my “copy and paste” respond to your DM - all you said was “can I have his kakao” I trusted you were genuinely curious and wanted the info, without asking you any questions I gave it to you. There were others that reached out that asked questions about my experience at Namu or my recovery where I shared again my genuine feedback and comments with my own personal pictures of before&after as well as X Rays without even mentioning Dukki in my respond because they wanted to know about my surgery not Dukki’s service which is completely fine and respected. Also I take the equal amount of time and effort into replying to the messages I receive, yours was short and sweet; therefore mine was too. Sorry if that was too “copy and pasty” for you.

I created this thread originally hoping to help others that want the extra assistance or support for their PS journey. You seem to be knowledgeable enough and don’t need any help so I will stop wasting my time on replying to your future messages. All the best.

Well look, you seem nice, but if you are going to endorse a guy who ran a known con game where he was ousted for lying and manipulating people's surgery plans. And now, he's trying to make a clean slate by re-branding himself like none of that non-sense ever happened. Then you can't expect people to NOT call all of that history into question and not shine a light of justice on his shady agent past.

You're recommending someone in a way where he sounds like an angel agent, but rather he has a dark history as a covert broker. Now, as an airbnb host, he seems fine, so he should probably stick to that day job and leave more serious medical agent work to more credible people.

And no offense, but Dukki is not what comes to mind when I think someone who knows the Korean PS scene.

People need to know the full context before they trust someone like that to manage their health care, finances and personal private information.

And he knows you're going to go on here and do a full a write up, and like any shady person getting publicity and coverage, he's going to play up to the journalists and his reviewers. ASHLY117 even mentioned his review was almost contrived by Tony and pulled out of him because he felt pressure and obliged by Dukki/Tony to do it.
