NAMU Plastic Surgery: Fat Grafting, Ultherapy, & DES + Ptosis Correction (Long)

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, ^^
It’s actually been a while since I had my surgery at Namu, but I wanted to wait for everything to settle especially to see the longevity of the fat graft and the final results after deswelling!
I had my surgery in February 2019 at Namu Plastic Surgery. I actually paid for a deposit to secure a date as I was there for a limited time, and with the deposit they had organised a pick up from the airport when I arrived! They were also kind enough to organise a driver for going back to the airport when it was my time to leave Seoul~ I miss it already.
I’ve been on this forum for a while... maybe 3-4 years?! My first surgery was at MVP Plastic Surgery where I did my jaw reduction with Dr. Seo. Although I really liked Dr.Seo and the result, the recent deaths at MVP scared me and since the English translator Mindy I liked had gone too I thought to go to a different clinic.
Even though I was 20, I felt like I looked older than I actually was. Everyone else always assumed I was in my mid-late 20s... TT^TT.... I had a quite flat face with less fats, especially in my forehead and cheek area. I had actually thought I needed zygoma reduction, but MVP said my cheekbones weren’t too wide. I was definitely hesitant to go through another bone procedure as I had experience slight sagging around my jaw area after my reduction. I also had an issue with my eyes, as the double eyelids were very asymmetrical.

Consultation:
I had come to Namu with a friend I met on this forum! We were hoping to get a better price if we go together (we did!). The clinic is very clean with a bright and simple atmosphere. We saw a few other patients in the waiting room - I noticed they were mostly (if not all) Korean but were both in young and old ages. Honestly, when I first saw Claire the English consultant I got so nervous and shy. She is prettier in person and she also seemed very busy and occupied at the time, so I felt a bit awkward being there waiting for her and was worried I wouldn’t be able to feel comfortable communicating what I wanted to her. I’m already a shy person! ;-;
But as we both went into the consultation room together, Claire quickly warmed up to us and I immediately felt comfortable talking to her. Before the doctors came in to see us, she talked us through and was quickly able to pick up on what kind of result we both wanted without us telling her directly. She said she could tell I liked more of a dolly result, while my friend wanted something more natural. She’s also very observant and was able to see what fillers I had done without me telling her yet (or maybe it’s too obvious!! T^T). She was also open to what procedures she had done herself and gave us her personal insight and honest opinions.
We first met Dr Kirk, who is a quite shy and reserved type of person. He was going to do my fat grafting, and I mentioned to him that I was self conscious of my cheekbones, but he told me just fat grafting would be suitable for me in my case to smoothen the area. He recommended fat grafting on my forehead, temples and the hollows under my cheeks. Next was Dr Jeong (he’s not longer at NAMU, he left shortly after my surgery!) who would do my eyes. He informed me that the biggest cause of my asymmetry was the way my eyebrows lifted (one lifted higher than the other) , and this could be helped with ptosis correction and he would also perform double eyelid surgery to try correct my eyelids as much as possible. Claire also recommended ultherapy for my sagging around my jaw area.
The consultation went for much longer than I expected (about just over 2 hours?)! We were late in the afternoon, however. Claire went through the prices with us, then gave us some discount overall. She even explained to us that the prices between cash and card were not different and there was no discount for cash only, as they wanted to be careful about those things. That was fine with me because I was paying by card anyway !
Our surgeries were scheduled that Monday, just a few days later!!

Surgery Day:
I couldn’t sleep the night before because I was so excited, and I had to fast for 4 hours before the surgery. When I arrived there was Claire and also an Indonesian consultant but I had forgotten her name. She was very nice and sweet as well.
They brought me to our own room, where I placed my things in the secure locker and got changed into the clothes they gave me. They took some before photos of me, then I was off to go.
First was the ultherapy which would be done by their dermatology specialist! I was laid on the operating theatre and the nurses were very soft spoken and gentle, so I didn’t feel nervous. I couldn’t even remember when I fell asleep, but next thing I knew I woke up with my jawline area feeling numb and strange. They helped me to Dr Kirk, where we spoke about my fat grafting once again and Claire reiterated to him that I wanted a dramatic, dolly result. He drew on my face, then Dr Jeong came to draw on my eyes. Dr Kirk even asked me where I wanted to take my fat from, and asked if the tummy was okay. I told him I wanted from my thighs and he asked me why! I know it wasn’t much fat that was going to be taken, but my thighs are so thick that I’d be happy to slim down even just 1mm!
However, when I was lying on the operating theatre before going under and the nurses had to spread my legs apart with me only in my underwear I slightly regretted choosing my thighs TT^TT but they were very professional and covered the important bits,so it’s okay!
Next thing I knew, I woke up to Dr Jeong’s voice and realised they must be starting my eyes. I was so afraid of being awake during the eye procedure, I tried to make noises to let them know I’m awake, but it only came out in weird groans... I didn’t know that they had actually already finished. It felt so trippy going under sedation I didn’t know what time went or passed.
They helped me to our room, where I laid down on a single bed beside my friend, who was already lying down in her own bed recovering from her eyelid surgery.
It was nice that we were in the same room, because we both chatted for about 20 minutes before they came with the aftercare packages and Claire took us to get our medication!
My friend and I felt well enough to go eat nearby since we were starving and thirsty. I was very shy about going out public as I had bandages on my forehead and cheeks, but it was not a big deal.
Then I took a cab back to my hotel!

Results:
Eyes -
The first 6 months, I was being irrational with overanalysing my eyes and was upset that they were not completely even. They are definitely much more even than before, and I learned to manage my expectations. Everyone around me told me there was no more asymmetry in my eyes, so I realised it was an issue within myself.. also as I began to correct my habit of raising one eyebrow which Dr Jeong pointed out, the slight asymmetry that still bothered me was practically gone! Don’t forget that my eyes were still deswelling when I was going through the stress with my eyes, and as it deswelled I definitely felt better about them.

Ultherapy - The results took 2-3 months to show and because my sagging was slight it was not a dramatic difference. But combined with my fat grafting, I saw my skin was much tighter and finally strangers would guess my age correctly T^T

Fat Grafting - I am so happy I did fat grafting because it really made a dramatic difference for me! I look much younger than I did before, and much more healthier with a plumper face. The difference is definitely seen when I look at my old photos, I couldn’t believe how flat and hollow my face was compared to now. It’s a great result, especially for a procedure so painless and easy to recover from! Actually, the only ‘pain’ I felt through the whole ordeal was my bruised thighs where they extracted the fat from, but even then it was like a type of pain when you worked out too much for a day. ALSO, I had only done fat grafting once so far (no top up yet) and was very impressed how much lasted without touch up.

Sorry this is so long! I hoped to be as thorough as I could to help others, especially first timers. If you’d really like to see my before and afters, please PM me as I’m not comfortable posting on the thread! I hope you understand!!

Thanks for the detailed review. Are you planning on getting fat grafting again? If so, will you go back to Korea?

Thank you for your review! Are there any updates on the recovery of your eyes?

I saw on another thread that Dr. Juong has left Namu, do you know why? I tried to search his name to see where he could have switched to, but unfortunately no luck. I know this thread started in Jan 2020 before covid went out of hand, did you end up going to Korea in March to get your rhino and ba?

Reading the reviews, Namu seemed like that place I was searching for as I wanted to my eyes and nose done possibly in Summer 2021. However, since Dr. Juong left Namu, I am no longer sure if they can give me the results I am looking for. Stay safe!
