Thanks maskd2003! :winkiss: I've got friends who use tape to create an artificial crease, but didn't know it could also raise it for someone who already has one. I'll definitely give it a try!

Whoever is still considering Dr. Kim of BKclinic, if you remember my earlier post about that girl who feels he screwed up her nose... well, she's back after a long hiatus in the Singapore Expats Forum:
Singapore Expats Forum - View topic - Plastic and cosmetic surgery abroad

She had her nose, eyes, and chin done by Dr. Kim some time the middle of last year, so her feelings now can't be due to post-surgery depression (like that Rabbit girl). She has *choice* words for Dr. Kim in her post, and still maintains her nose is crooked. She's considering going to Dr. Jung for a revision, and doesn't feel the Taiwan docs have as much experience. Again, take this w/ a grain of salt, as this is her personal opinion, and as someone pointed out earlier, BKclinic does thousands of surgeries a year and has an excellent reputation in general.

Just wanted to point out that Jovin's doc, Dr. Hsu in Taiwan, only uses silicone. I know maskd2003 only wants her tip refined, but for anybody else considering Dr. Hsu, please be aware of this fact. Obviously, Dr. Hsu must be very skilled since Jovin's nose looks great, but I know that many of us, including myself, are really scared of the side-effects of silicone - courtesy of Dr. Jung's site. Dr. Chuang's wishclinic site does talk about goretex, so I think you have the choice of material there.

oh wow... I have learned so much from participating in this forum! My opinion has changed so many times...

This is what I think now (for those how care to hear me ramble ;)) :
Korean surgeons do have the most experience and are probably the most skilled especially for more difficult procedures such as a fleshy nose, bony wide jawline, etc. But, because it is so common, I think you will bump into some doctors who don't put so much attention to each job anymore. BK clinic has gotten half good and half bad reviews. That is horrible!
If you can find a doc in Korea that does care about your outcome, good for you!

But for more common procedures such as the ones that I'm looking at, I'd prefer to spend my time with someone who will take the time and patiently do the plastic surgery. Besides, it sounds like from a lot of people who have had plastic surgery from the other forum that Taiwan can compete alongside Korea! yay!

Good results will come from patience, and skill.

Hey Ppl,
I feel that at the end of the day, the type of implant ideal for u really depends on the type of nose u've got NOW, and the nose u WANt to get. I know 'I' implants r good if u only want a small augmentation (which is what I want cause any bigger, it wd look like a caucasian nose!), so that's why getting goretex 'I' implant with cartilage for the tip if ideal for me, because with 'I' implants ur able to move ur nose alittle more compared to 'L' shaped implants, exactly how much more, I wdnt know. But I know each type of implant has their pros and cons, and it wont be the same for all of us, as I'm sure we all have V different noses, some slightly flatter, some slightly higher, some slightly wider, some slightly smaller......

 Hehe, I just wanted to add my rolling eyes too.

I agree maskd2003, my choices have changed a bit too. Originally you all know I wanted to go to Korea, even despite reading the Expat thread. Why? Meh Korea just sounds so fun and I need to get out of this country for a bit. I never even considered Taiwan, despite the positive reviews its received so far.

But recently I've been rethinking. If I seriously wanted to get this nosejob for real, I'd probably have my mother on my back. And it just makes sense to go to Taiwan, where I actually understand the language a lot more than Korean. And since more and even MORE people are saying Taiwanese doctors are on par with the Korean ones and prefer a more natural change (which to me can look from subtle to big change).

Yea keropi I agree with you. For what I'm paying I want to see a bit of a bigger change so I want goretex I with cartilage nose tip.

Hey maskd2003,

Found this in one of Jovin's posts:

"The contact of the PS who did my nose in Taipei: +886228753036, Xu(2) Yong(3) Kang(1) Plastic Surgery Clinic"

I'm guessing Xu is Dr. Hsu spelled differently, and (2) is his extension??

Hey robinh,

I'm going to see Dr. Lam, who is the doc in the videos maskd has been posting. Although you mentioned some concerns about his experience with the Asian nose, I believe he is indeed an expert with the Asian nose, but he does not specialize ONLY in the Asian nose. (btw, he said the risk of silicone is a lot higher than goretex for complications...silicone is also harder, visible in certain lighting, and can make your nose tissue contract so that it looks shrink-wrapped. His office does lots of revisions for ppl who had bad jobs done overseas--but of course, there are good docs and bad docs everywhere.)

After my consultation, I feel really confident in his technique. His style is natural and subtle, which is what I prefer, even if that means I'll never look like Song Hye Kyo (sigh). He is also much more expensive than Korean docs - about double BK's quoted price. But, Dr. Lam prefers to only do one surgery per day. And given the precision it takes to do a good rhino, I really would not be comfortable at a Korean clinic that did many surgeries a day. And I'm disturbed at Rabbit's reports on SingExpatforum that the Singapore doctors who examined her infected implant (put in by BK) suspected that the implant was actually silicone and not Goretex. Could the doc have been in such a hurry that he put in the wrong kind? They even charged her extra for it! If something like that happened to me, I would be hopeless.

That's just my personal preference, and I'm sure many have had good results in Korea. But I really need a doc who is willinging to talk to me about every little concern. Ultimately, it *could* be my peace of mind that I'm paying for, but I think it's worth it.

Thanks for the info, Wgirl99! I've watched his videos, and his views about silicone and goretex are totally consistent with mine. He also has the most impressive background of all the docs I've come across (Princeton, Columbia, double board certified, author, etc.).

Wow! One surgery per day? Now, that's refreshing to hear... a doc that actually takes his time rather than makes you feel that you're on some assembly line.

I think you made a great choice, and if I were to do it in the US, I would definitely choose him over Dr. Lee in LA. And I doubt most of us would ever look like Song Hye Ko, no matter how much PS we do! :girlsigh:

Good luck, girl, and let us know how it turns out.

Hi guys,
I've been reading this thread for awhile and I'm from NY state and I definately have been wanting a nose job for a really long time. I think I want to do it in Korea. Most of you guys seem to be doing it in later december right? I want a goretex implant and narrowing, though looking at Wendy from that youtube show seriously scares me with the alar narrowing (MJ-looking) bit :P. I want a taller bridge/longer and not as nasal looking. Is anyone getting anything else done? I'm thinking of other things, but not too keen on the procedures (neck lipo).

I saw the Sam Lam doctor video on youtube and he seems the most sensible, but the results seem almost too natural, at least for the price if it's supposedly double BK's. In any case, why don't you guys update me on the exact specifics of the nose job extravaganza later this year b/c I definately want to get one and would like to split hotel costs. P.S. you can aim me (my sn).

Oh and also for the ladies interested in doing a bleroplasty, I had mine done about 5 years ago and I'm pretty happy with the results. I did the inner-incision (sohk-sangapul) and I mean not too many people suspect they're fake. I mean I can't read their minds, but people tell me it looks natural. I don't remember much but the doctore was more pricey and female, and definately worth it (my mom said at the time it was about 2,000 usd or so and that was in like 2001). In any case, if you guys need any advice feel free to send me a message :o)

Hey Maskd2003,

Yea I got your message, but I don't know too much information on Taiwanese doctors. Do you have any info about it? I initially was planning on going to Seoul to get a NJ, since I trust them and have some means of (although limited) communication. If you have any links and info on the doctor you plan to go to, feel free to send the info. Thanks~
