Hi everybody,

I have been following this thread for a while and now I finally finished reading all 343 pages.
I am so grateful that I found this forum and I want to thank you all for sharing your knowledge and experiences, it really means the world to me.
I have for many years considered rhinoplasty to make my nose-bridge higher and get a more defined nose. I actually have a fine nose, but I just happen to be very vain :P and I think that my face will benefit much from the nosejob and it will give me the enchancement that I am looking for.

If it wasn't for you guys, I think I've made the biggest mistake in my life. I couldn't find any doctors here in Denmark who would agree to give me a nose-implant so I consulted a Sweedish doctor who I thought could help me. He said that he wanted to use a silicone implant for my nose to increase the height and that's really it. He didn't even mention anything about possible complications or explained anything about the procedure. I just had to ask about things that he was supposed to tell me. I really didn't feel secure, but due to the fact that no other doctors could help me with what I wanted I was willing to book a time after all.
But luckily I came across this thread before my surgery, that made me change my mind.

Now I'm planning to have Rhinoplasty, botox injections in the Jawline and maybe Chin-implant with doctor Jung from Shimmian Clinic (Korea) in january 2009.
I don't know for sure, but as things are now I think I want Goretex with my own cartilage for the tip. And maybe Alar-plasty too. But I think I'll have to wait to determine for sure, until I meet him for the consultation.

Does anyone know if Dr. Jung are good at performing other kind of surgeries that Rhinoplasty? e.g chin-implant?

Thanks guys, for everything

I have been in touch with Dr. Jung and a doctor from his clinic "Dr. Jang".
Dr. jung has just replied my mail, thought I'd share it with you.
At first I thought that I wanted Rib-cartilage because it suppose to be the safest material for the nose-bridge. But after further consideration, I think I will go with Goretex.

1) Regarding the Implant material, how do you feel about Rib-graft for the bridge?

I think you don't need it. Usually we recommend when the bridge lift a lot.

2) Cosmetically can the result be as good as using Gore-tex ?

It's good cosmetically.

3) Have you done a lot of bridge-raising operations using Rib-graft, with succes?

I have experienced a lot about rib cartilage.

4) If using Rib, would it be possible to make the incision so I can hide it, when wearing bikini?

Only slit like a scar.

5) If I am looking for lifelong result with the intention of having one noseoperation only, what material do you think will be the best candidate for raising the nose-bridge?

I think the best material is the rib cartilage. But you should think pros and cons of each materials.

6) What are the pros and cons for using Rib-Graft?

pros - 1) yours

2) lower complications
cons - 1) warping 3-5%
2) possible scar on chest
3) expensiv- 3000 USD more
4) long OP time 2hours longer

7) What about the area on the chest where you remove the Rib? What are the possible complications for that? Infection... or others?

infection is rare.
site is between the nipple and navel.

8) I can understand that the Complication-rate is much lower by using Rib graft, and that the chances for possible, servere Complications in the future are also lower by using Rib-graft than using Gore-tex ?

I think rib is lower than gore-tex.

9) Also one can avoide Extrution?

yes

10) And how about Contraction? Can this happen if using Rib-graft?

no

11) Can contraction happen if using Goretex?

rare

12) I have seen lots of cases with Goretex-noses, but some of them tend to be a little wider than using Silicone-implant. Is it possible for you to make the nose as defined with Goretex, if I might choose that?

yes

13) Withing how long time is it possible to remove the Goretex?

anytime

14) If I choose to make the Alar-reduction, how do you feel about this? Have you seen a lot of goodresults with this, without scarring or do I have to count on that I will get little scars?

We can get good result in alar reduction surgery under good indications. Scar is negligible.

15) About the Anaesthesia, do you have a special Anaesthesia-doctor for the operation?

We don't have anesthesia specialist but we invite a ansthesia specialist in case of general anethesia.

16) Do you do the whole operation yourself? Also the open and close-part?

Preparings and finishing are performed by fellow, but almost every procedures will be performed by me.

You have too much questions.

Thanks

DH Jung, MD, PhD

Apparently he thought that I had too many questions... :oh: Maybe he just meant that I don't have to worry that much, and that he can answer my quetions when I come for my consultation.
But isn't it natural to ask a lot of questions, especially when your'e a foreigner who are going to travel that long for a nosejob? It's not that I just can meet up for a consultationand then decide that it's not for me anyway... :shrugs:

well the thing is, its best to use natural stuff from your body instead of man made stuff such as gortex or natures stuff, silicone. gortex and silicone all have their cons and pros. dr charles lee likes to use silicone bc it looks and fits with the asian face and he has more choices with it. where as gortex may look too wide for most asians. but the thing is, in the long term, those implants may cause problems. it all depends on the patient. gortex (better for you if you play sports) can cause infection in the long term for no reason and your skin grows onto gortex, which makes it hard to remove. where as silicon is 100% proven to thin out your skin and may slip down your nose in the long term but if there is an infection , it is easily removed. thats why most doctors use your ear as the tip. but some doctors may use the L shape implant which is NOT GOOD! make sure they at laest use your ears as the tip! also, the best way to get rhinoplasty that doesnt cause long term problem is by using your rib cage or part of your body! but they dont have that many expert doctors in the united states for that. i would suggest you go to another country . it leaves major scaring if you pick a bad doctor. the healing might be a long and painful process but in the long term its worth ittt!!:yahoo:

Don't worry! You didn't even get imlants so risks of something shifting. As long as it doesn't hurt when you cover your face with a blanket then it's fine.

For those who had tipwork with ear-cartilage, do you notice that your ear is less bristly now, you know not sticking out so much as before?

Thoang86, hope you're doing well in your recovery stage

It's so quiet here without Maskd, Keenose and Kimosa. How are your all doing ?

I somehow get the feeling that this is just advertising for the BK Clinic written by someone at the clinic. There have been numerous posts in the past on this forum where patients who have had procedures done at this clinic have posted detailed accounts of their experiences at the clinic along with photos. All have been written in similar fashion and similar style. Is this just coincidence? I think it's great that we can read about these experiences and view photographs at the same time so we know what to expect but I just get the impression that these posts are composed for advertising purposes.

Hey Girls! ;)

Wow!! There are a lot of new 'faces' since I last logged on! It is crazy how long this thread is getting!!

Well as (some of you) might remember, I went to Dr. Chuang in July to have my surgeries. Everything went well and I am thrilled with the results....so i am going back to have more!! *v. v greedy, i know.

I'm planning to head back to Taipei this November/December. I'm going to leave Singapore after my exams finish (so probably on the 29th/30th of November). I am going to be doing cheek implant, chin implant and (possibly) breast augmentation. Depending on exactly which surgeries I do, I'll probably stay about a week and a half/two weeks.

Anyone interested in buddying up with me to share accommodation at Dejavu Hotel?

Last time I went to Taipei I stayed at both Hope City Fushing Hotel and CHarming City Hotel, which were slightly cheaper...BUT we had to pay cab fares to and from the clinic each day, meaning it probably evened out in the end (as I understand you can walk to Dr. Chuang's from Dejavu).

Any girls interested, please PM me or let me know via the thread:smile:)
