Nope. The West is a term referred to the Americas, west of UK. Westernization is a different term. Yes, Australia is westernized but not "the West". Again, your understanding of the English language mediocre.

And no, I'm not disrespecting; just stating the fact. Next time you get sick, go see your top surgeons. Maybe he or she will finish give you a perfect nose right before you die. (That's sarcasm, btw.)

In terms of geography, the US is more East of you than West so yeah your geographical knowledge is limited as well. And "cultural affiliation"? Huh? What the heck are you talking about? Do tell, do you have a college degree?

He further explained the pros and cons of your own cartilage vs artificial implants and its application on different ethnicities.

Anyways there's really no point arguing with you on this as if you feel you have more knowledge than actual plastic surgeons, then it just becomes a situation where you are arguing for the sake of arguing and that is not what this thread and this forum is for. Speak to some surgeons regarding our disagreements, maybe it will enlighten you a little.

As you said above, Dr. Mendelson is a western surgeon. By what you said, it should be westernized right? So you did use the term, no?

Once more, when a top surgeon like Brian Mendelson is explaining the difference in ideology between Western and Asian surgeons, he is refering to cultural affiliation. US, Canada, Uk, Australia, are commonly referred to as western society not for geographic reasons but cultural. My god learn the context. I've followed this thread for quite some time - awaiting for someone to share their experience with diced cartilage rhino.
Needless to say, I value your information regarding such procedure. About Doctor Charles Lee of Beverly Hills, I visited his clinic a few years back, paid $200 for a consultation fee. He was a very nice person, but for some reason I was skeptical about his skills and am glad that I didn't go through with the procedure. My friend went ahead to book the surgery with him and her result convinced me that I've made the right decision.
I am planning to visit Korea sometime next year just for consultation with some clinics. In fact, I have emailed a clinic that provides the diced cartilage procedure. Silicone implant still is my second option because am not brave enough to consider any type of invasive procedure, such as rip.
I hope to learn more from you about the diced cartilage procedure. I have more questions that I wanted to ask but I'll wait until you have the pm option.
I also followed your post in the other threat about cheek reduction. You saved that person from making a mistake based on your own experience. Your explanation made a lot of sense and very logic. Thank you for sharing,

Hi everyone, I'm new here. I've been following this thread for a while and everyone seems so nice. I'd like to share my story, and hopefully talk to people who are in the same situation as I am.

I had rhinoplasty in South Korea July this year and so far I am very unhappy with the results. I had a relatively alright nose, it was a little bulbous but I guess that bulbous-ness lent my face a cute look.

I think a huge part of my unhappiness is really due to myself. Being only 19, I was too taken in by how pretty Korean girls looked in dramas and music videos that I felt ugly and inadequate in comparison. My friends all told me I was beautiful just the way I was but in my head I kept telling myself that I wouldn't be happy until I got surgery. Well, I did get surgery and now I regret it terribly and I wish I had my old nose back. Sure, it wasn't perfect, but I was confident about how I looked, until I started being influenced negatively by media.

I had my surgery done with Dr. Suh of JW. I don't think he's a bad doctor; I think I'm unhappy with the results because I did not let him know specifically what I wanted. During consultation I gave so much trust to him that I didn't realise he was going to do more than just fill the depression on my nose bridge (I had a bulbous tip, like a ball, so the transition from my underdefined bridge to overdefined tip meant that it had a sudden depression along the length of the nose). I told him I just wanted that filled so that I wouldn't have a shadow where the depression is in my photos. I don't know how but somehow along the way I let him convince me to insert a 2.5mm silicone implant and reduce the sides of my nose (the part where the alars sort of connect to the middle portion of the nose, not sure what it's called so if anyone knows please let me know). He also used my septum cartilage to build my tip. And now I'm left with a nose that has a very visible silicone implant (the entire rectangle is very obvious in most lightings, you can see the edges on the sides as well as the bit between my eyes because I think he placed it higher than where my original nose bridge started and it's been pressing against my skin at an unnatural angle), that has sides (of the middle portion of nose, not alars) that are far too reduced (from front view, it tapers into a V shape as opposed to the original U shape) and looks "pinched" and way too narrow in comparison to my now relatively wide alars, and that looks more deviated than before (my original bridge was slightly deviated but the implant highlighted the deviation.. </3)

I've been really depressed ever since and I feel like I can't smile again until I get my old nose back. I feel like I made the decision to undergo rhinoplasty far too early in my life, and in too much of a rush. I am so scared that my nose will continue to "heal" in a way that I don't like - shrink wrap further, tip falls etc.. And now all I can think about is the day I get revision to correct my mistake. But I have so many issues with that:

1. I'm too scared to undergo surgery again. What if things become WORSE? I feel like I can never trust a doctor to understand exactly how I feel again. I can't speak Korean and going through a translator just feels like my message will get modified somewhere along the way.

2. Cost. It was so expensive for me to go for the first surgery. I used up all my personal savings and I can't fund a revision until a much later date.

3. I don't know which doctor to choose anymore. There's just too many in South Korea and I don't even know where to start.

4. I don't know what SHOULD be done, or whether it CAN be done. Although I know how I WANT my nose to look, I don't know what surgical procedures go into making my nose look the way I want it... I don't want to use any ear/rib cartilage, I definitely don't want to use silicone, and I'm not sure if I have enough septum cartilage anymore. I'm too scared to harvest materials from another part of my body. Also, I don't know if the middle portion of my nose can be widened. I believe a lot of tissue was removed and I'm not sure if I can "refill" those areas with tissue, or whatever else, anymore. :/

I have no one to talk to about this because I'm too embarrassed to admit I made a huge mistake in life, and I don't want to be judged for it. So that's why I'm here. I hope someone here would be able to advise me on what to do. If you've undergone a similar situation, please let me know. Thank you.

I almost forgot that you posted ur bad experience woth JW. Recently there was this blogger who went there for rhinoplasty and hers looks Ok. She will be going there for double eyelid surgery next yr again at the same clinic. I can pm u her blog if u want to see her result.

So I am thinking how come this girl didn't have the problem as urs....

So now I will KIV this clinic first until I have more info.

I think everyone reacts differently to surgery. For me, it wasn't really JW's fault because the result they gave me was sort of what we discussed; I just didn't make myself clear enough. The only real issue besides my personal dissatisfaction is the silicone showing. My skin didn't react to this artificial implant well. :/ You should definitely consult JW for yourself and see what they can do for you, though.

You shouldn't generalise Thailand's cosmetic industry from just Yanhee.

I got mine at Bumrungrad and it turned out great.

Locals never go to Yanhee. We know it's bad.

With infection rate you can argue all you want but the bottom line is the knowledge of every surgeon i have spoken to is far superior and more credible than yours. Saying "I'll stand up to any surgeon who want to argue that point" shows a blatant disrespect of legitimate medical knowledge and really leads me to wonder what kind of information you have been sharing with others who come to this forum seeking proper help and advice. Now how did I learn of higher infection rates with thinner skin? With my case because the cartilage graft has caused the skin around the bridge of my nose to become thinner, risk of infection is higher when using silicone. EVERY SINGLE SURGEON i have seen have told me the exact same thing when i mentioned that i preferred silicone if possible. They explained to me that people with thinner skin have a higher risk of getting infections with artificial implants, especially the harder ones.

Also, with the saline method, I did say it was a new method i hadnt yet researched and therefore don't understand it myself. You should not attempt to discredit a new surgical technique without even learning of the methodology. There's alot more to it than I can explain because as I said, i only recently heard of it from Dr Park Yang Soo. Maybe if you are curious you could shoot him an e-mail so he can explain it to you in ways i can't possible do.

Honestly, if you've had 18 procedures done on your nose, you've been going to the wrong doctors. So despite them being "superior and credible," your results don't prove that.

18 procedures on my nose??? Lol i never said that. oh god my nose would probably have fallen off if ive had 18 procedures done on my it alone lol. Ive had around 13 procedures all up, 2 of which were done on my nose. Neither surgeon i would recommend for obvious reasons. The rest of my other procedures were for other areas. Some were very well done whilst others were not. Superior and credible refers to surgeons who ive had good results with, or who are well renowned AMONGST THEIR PEERS, with great credentials and have provided me with insightful and informational consultations.

good to know about the Bumrungrad. I was 19 at the time of my first surgery and was considering there but the agency i went with directed me to yanhee. Nose looked great at first then it deviated and chin was always causing me pain. It wasn't until I had a ct done in australia did i realize what was actually implanted into me.

Well in this forum we discuss rhinoplasties and that's what you've basically been arguing with Lexethan about not your "other procedures.". And so since "Superior and credible refers to surgeons who ive had good results with" don't include those who operated on your nose, the information they gave you regarding nose jobs aren't "credible" and thus invalid.

well i'll try to explain this so you understand. Just because a surgeon didn't perform rhinoplasty on me doesn't mean the information they gave me regarding nose jobs aren't credible and valid. For example, I value the information given to me regarding nose jobs from a surgeon like Brian Mendelson, who is widely renowned not due to marketing, but by his peers. He later referred me to the surgeon who invented the diced cartilage method for rhinoplasty who also offered me valuable information. Is such information invalid? Definitely not. Reason why I did not end up going to them for my revision is because they recommended rib rhino as I've used up the ear cartilage I had. Rib rhino is a procedure I'm not personally comfortable with due to the invasive nature.
