There seems to be a lot of discussion about clinics, but it would also be great if we had a thread that gave recommendations of places to stay in Seoul. I will be there in March but haven't any idea of where to stay, since I really want to make sure I can be somewhere that has English speakers.

I would make a thread but I haven't got enough posts yet to do that.

I'm going in mid April and booked on Airbnb. Found a studio with all the basic essentials (w/kitchenette, bathroom, bed, tv, wifi, that looks furnished with new ikea), for half of what it'd cost for a cheap hotel room, a few blocks from Dream (my first pick)! I'm an avid airbnber and I love the platform. Check it out -- a lot of good options, but it's basic travel / lodging though, no concierge service (besides maybe asking the host) -- so if you need anything else, you're mainly on your own to navigate / translate / figure it out. If you find one you want to book, PM me when you can, and I can give you a discount code for a $25 credit

Me personally, am staying in an airbnb b/c I rather feel like a ninja after surgery lol, slip into a backstreet with my face mask on and into a private/personal space for quiet, anonymous healing and recovery. I think I'd be more comfortable like that, than walking into a hotel lobby with people looking at my bandages lol. I also like it too b/c it's cheaper than hotels, plus you get more amenities (like an entire kitchen vs. just maybe a coffee pot), and the best part (to me) is an experience living like a local. But if you need things like more people/staff around for aftercare or concierge, or room service or other customer / touristy services, then a hotel or guest house with people around might be a better option.

Also, I think as long as you have a clear itinerary, the addresses you want to go to written in Korean, and have a basic translator program on your phone, you should be okay. That's how I'm going about it! Also, checking out tripadvisor for good tips beforehand too!

Hi Tari, I can't PM anyone yet b/c I only registered on here 2-3 days ago (they make you wait 5 days and write 10 posts before they give full access).. I have to wait a few more days first before sending/receiving any PMs I guess

Btw it's not my place I'm talking about.. fyi, airbnb is an awesome website/company that let's anyone around the world list their apartments onto the website for short term rental/stays.. back in NYC I actually do rent out my own place, so that's why i have a discount code to share with anyone who wants to book their first listing.. but the studio I'm staying in shinsha dong, is just another listing I looked up and booked through their website. Maybe do a search to find some listings you might be interested in staying at first, and then in a few days PM me when I'm able to receive messages lol

Hi.

I have been researching for a month and so far i have noticed that JK and JW are the most popular clinics and have the best reviews in this forum. I have read that JK and JW are good for foreigners, but they seems to be expensive. The money will not be the biggest issue for me. The most important thing is that the clinic have a good staff, doctors, reviews, takes responsibility for their patients and have a good care for their patients. JK and JW are so far on my list.

The clinics i need to avoid based on what i have read are BANOBAGI, ID, FACELINE, JEWELRY, BK, GRAND, CINDERELLA, WONJIN, TEUIM and WIEW, and there are more so i this no go clinics list will grow.

I will continue to do my research, but like is said before i want to do a general face surgery. The procedures i want to do in Korea are chin implant, cheek implant, forehead lift, double eyelid and maybe jaw surgery and eyebrow lift. I will do the rhinoplasty in my country. Guys, what do you think of JK and JW for the surgeries i have mention?

Thanks in advance!

@Mikemexis, JK is on my shortlist, and I'll be going there for a consultation in late April. Here are some of my own thoughts so far on them:

It seems like JK is a good PS place, in the upper ranges, having an entire building for medical facilities, winning awards for best for foreigners, so it's reputable. The biggest con I've found so far though, is the possibly scary "shadow doctors" concept -- they don't assign you a specific doctor to speak with (I couldn't find any info. on any specific doctor's to even request!), b/c there's no info. on the medical staff listing their qualifications on their website (and very limited specific doctor's reviewed on this forum for them), and they would probably assign you to whoever's available then. For my consultation, I asked for an appt. with their senior rhinoplasty specialist... and their response was something like, 'don't worry, all our doctors are experts'... O.o

While I personally am not entirely UNcomfortable with the idea that a bunch of different / anonymous doctors might be performing the operations together for learning/training purposes (hey... all these doctor's need to start and gain experience somewhere! and imo the best / safest way for everyone involved is to do so is in a bigger institutional setting, with lots of resources, info hub, and eyes watching...), especially in a strong/reputable hospital facility (a full size institution with reputation at stake/more to lose if something goes wrong, and not meaning a small back alley/fly by night clinic... context is everything!)... (I've had other non-PS operations before, and found that a "team" of doctors can have more opinions leading to better assessments and collaborative efforts, and more people/doctors/eyes in the room being there might make whoever's operating have more care with their actions, with a main expert doctor overseeing everything to make sure everything goes smooth), but some might be turned off /scared not knowing who's who and their qualifications off the bat. I have some concerns about that too. However, I plan to combat this ignorance of who's going to be potentially operating on me, by asking these types of questions during my consultation. Like, who will be the main attending physician, and what are his/her credentials, and credentials of anyone else who might be touching my face, what would they be doing, and let's see samples of their work, plus have there been mishaps before? (I'm not 100% sure on this one, so don't quote me on it, but I vaguely recall / believe JK boasts itself as having 0 accidents in the 14 years of operation...)

That's just some information I have on JK that I thought might be useful to consider for your particular circumstances. But I don't have any notes on JW, I must have read something that made me drop them off my shortlist though...

Thanks for the answer. I am very thankful that you will share your consulation experience with JK in April.

I am very interested in this clinic because i have also read that operations never have gone wrong in JK so far they have been in the buisness. I have only heard good reviews about them. As long as it doesnt come up anything bad about them, JK will be my first option for plastic surgery.

I have also heard good reviews for JW, most patients has positive reviews on them as well. But they dont have the same good reputation as JK, not all patients has been happy with their procedures. Can you please book a consulation with JW and tell me how it went if you can in April? I would be very thankful if you did that!

Thanks in advance!

You can't expect clinics to have none bad reviews about it since it is about surgery
of course there are possibilities of gone bad..
that is why I guess it has pros and cons about the surgeries
As you have mentioned those 2 clinics are having better reviews compare to other places
you should check both of'em since they are across each other lol
or you can contact them through email or something to get some sense of it:smile:

I have heard about The Line Clinic as well and it have been mentioned here many times. It seems that this clinic is popular here, but i don't remember what i have read about this clinic and i have not done my research on this clinic yet.

I have no idea if this clinic is legit or not. I don't have this clinic on my avoid list or recommend list so far. I have not been informed that operations never have gone wrong in The Line Clinic, so sorry i can not tell you what i think about this clinic. I am interested to get more information about this clinic so i will do my research.

I am not expecting any clinic to have only good reviews, i know that all clinics will have both good and bad reviews. But what i can expect is that there are clinics that operation have never went wrong, that is what i have read about JK here.

I am doing my research, i have contacted the clinics through e-mail and online consultation, reading news articles on the internet and i am here on purseforum and reading.

I have heard good reviews and operation success at the Dream clinic. I am interested on this clinic,so i have contacted the Dream Plastic Surgery, and i asked them about how much they took for the operations i want to do. They answer that i got from them was this:
Price 3.46mil-4.71mil ( Double eyelid+ ptosis together )

Price Chin implant surgery is 4.2 mil and nasolabial implant is 3mil.

Price for forehead lift is 8.5 mil and sub eyebrow lift is 3.5 mil won.

Are these prices reasonable? I have no idea how much plastic surgery costs in Korea that is why i am asking.
