Thankfully I didn't have to get braces again after my surgery. I had braces years ago and I told the doctor I really don't want to have to get them again and he said my my case I didn't need them. I think in your case you should be fine even though you have veneers, but you won't know for sure until you go for a consult

And I totally agree that the clinics most known to foreigners are ripping them off. I was quotes 20 million krw for two jaw, and that price tag is totally outrageous.

I'm glad you have been able to be in contact with the clinic. Dr Lee speaks English very well but I still felt I needed to have my friend there with me to help translate sometimes. With a big surgery like 2 jaw, you don't want anything to be lost in translation. Some of the staff speaks a little English, and if anything they will use google translate to be able to communicate with you

A little tip if you decide to go for a consult at Face Dental, bring pics of a celebrity you would like to look like. Dr Lee told me at my consult to bring pics of a celeb that I admire. It was something I never thought about to be honest. But when he mentioned it, I decided to pick a Victoria's Secret model that I thought was beautiful and maybe even possible to have her profile. Amazingly he did a pretty good job giving me the same kind of profile the model has. Even my friend was really impressed lol

3 Weeks Post Op:

I can’t believe how fast tome has gone by. Swelling looks a lot less noticeable. To me I still look very swollen but everyone else said I don’t look swollen at all and they couldn’t tell I had surgery. I guess that’s a good sign. I’m scheduled for my follow up with Dr. Lee. For the past week, I came in almost everyday for deswelling treatments. They really do help. Dr. Lee checked out my mouth, bite, etc, and said it’s looking great. Asked if I had any issues and I honestly said everything was good, no problems at all. I did ask if it was possible to get my teeth whitened. He said I could just as long as it won’t be too sensitive for my teeth. He gave the ok and I started my whitening treatment the same day. Only did 1 application today. I’m happy that my teeth weren’t too sensitive at all and I was able to handle it. Right after I saw my teeth and they were super white! I loved the look. They said I have 2 more applications to do plus I get a kit to take home. They gave me an awesome discount for the whitening. So much cheaper than doing this in the states. I came home and really started looking at my new face. I’m so happy because my face is so much smaller now. I didn’t want to judge my face too soon because of all the swelling. But after 3 weeks I’m amazed at what Dr Lee was able to do for me. My protrusion is gone, my face is more symmetric, and my face is so much more shorter that it makes me look a lot younger. It’s just amazing! I wish I had this surgery done years ago.

1 Month Post Op:

Today is my last checkup before I head back home to the states. my face almost looks normal. To everyone else I look normal but to me I’m obviously still swollen. At least 30%. I came in early for my appointment. Did more deswelling treatment and had my whitening applications done. Dr. Lee removed the screws on my mouth. He asked me if chewing has been easier, I told him yes… I can eat soft food with no problem. I took new X-rays and "after" pics. I reviewed everything with Dr Lee and it was such a major difference. He asked me if I was happy with everything, I said of course. The results came out better than I anticipated. Most of the numbness in my face is gone except for the right side of my bottom lip. In a couple of weeks I should get full feeling back. Dr Lee said he would like for me to come back in 6 months for a checkup just to make sure everything is ok. So I plan to be back in Sept. I mentioned how I look so different from my passport now. The staff was so awesome, they were able to type out a letter signed by the Dr Lee, gave me a CD of all my before and after pics including X-rays. Plus they sent all my pics/X-rays thru Kakao. So I won’t even have any issues when it comes to customs at the airport. I appreciate that.

Yes, I had to stay at least 1 month in order to have the surgery. Dr. Lee was very strict that I would stay in town long enough to get proper check ups done. I'm glad that he's strict... its obvious that safety is his main priority

Crazy story. I contacted ID hospital about a year ago just to see what they would quote me. For my surgery they said they would charge me 29 million won! Then I asked them how long do I need to stay in town to recover. The consultant had the nerve to tell me that I can go home after just 1 week if I needed to! Seriously?! She said they have patients that do this all the time! I couldn't believe she said that. I strongly warn people to stay away from ID hospital! For them to tell me I could just go home after 1 week of having 2 jaw surgery is just terrifying!

lol definitely bring the pics... doesn't hurt! I think Song Hye Kyo is gorgeous! I adored her in the Kdrama "Full House" with Rain! I think she even prettier than Kim Tae Hee but that's just my opinion.

Seems like a lot to do, but it was worth it to me to go thru all the trouble in order to find a great clinic like The Face Dental. The clinics that are mentioned here on the forum all the time are taking too much advantage of us foreigners, because they know we have limited choices. But if you take the time to research clinics that are only known by the locals, you will find a great clinic that will give you proper care and save lots of money. Even if you find a clinic that you like and they may not have an English translator, still message them on something like Kakao and say (in Korean) that you are a foreigner and you are very interested in a consultation but you need an Eng translator. You never know, they maybe able to hire someone for the day that you come in for an appointment. It doesn’t hurt to ask, worst thing is that they say no, they can’t help you.

Thanks for this info. This is what I'm looking for. In the past, every time I typed in a clinic's name it just lists a bunch of ads for the clinic and not many reviews. Also how did you use Google translate? I have problems understanding the translations since they're never properly translated.
