sweetpotato1996
Hey, I was wondering if you guys told your parents/family about getting surgery before going to Korea? Or did you tell them afterwards? One of the things I am most nervous about is telling my mom about what I will get done. Even though I'm an adult and using money I earned myself, I feel kind of bad. krod2017
I told my mother beforehand and she was very disappointed, but eventually supported me..But when I had to get a revision she started throwing it in my face the fact that she told me not to get surgery. Parents are going to think you are beautiful regardless and will be disappointed that you want to change what they gave you genetically. If your mom is accepting , you are lucky. I see you are very young, and it is very important that your mom helps you make the right decision on where to go. She is older and wiser than you. So tell her so that you BOTH can pick the right clinic/hospital. Be very open and honest with her, let her know the pros and cons of each place you are interested in . But yes , you should tell your mom and dad. Surgery is life changing!!!!! Permanent.
sweetpotato1996
Thanks for your reply! I'm actually not that young, I'm 21 and will probably be at least 23 by the time I get my surgeries. My mom will be supportive of me getting one thing done (just my nose), but will probably go ballistic if I get more than that and will think I will become a plastic monster. I don't think she has as much faith in Korean plastic surgeons as I do. I'm still not 100% sure of how much I will get done, so I guess I can say I am going to Korea for cosmetic surgery and I'll decide there if I get one or more things done. kpsa
I understand it can be especially difficult to tell any relatives or friends about PS as it is typically frowned upon. Reason being it is not commonly accepted for one to PS. Funny enough though turning it around, in Korea it is common and everyone thinks it is absolutely normal. My point being what is normal is decided by what most people do, so rather than thinking of it as changing yourself, I would rather view it as being personal improvement Perhaps this will help you then better explain it. Good luck anyway Also if you read through this forum a lot of forummers will recommend that you do your research on approximately what you want to improve before you go to Korea. This will help you better understand the pros and cons of what you want and help during you consult. Also it is quite commonly mentioned that during consults some clinics will upsell you more procedures than you need and if you haven't done sufficient research and/or do not know what you want it can have serious consequences. So it is recommended that you research thoroughly. Hope this helps.
gats
If you show her some before/after pics from Korea of the procedures you want done, I'm sure she'll change her mind about their abilities. I would tell her well before you go as if anything happens in the operating room (rare but possible), someone would need to know to make medical decisions if you can't make them for yourself. Also who knows, maybe she will offer to accompany you for support?
krod2017
I would recommend getting one surgery...and going back for more on another trip. 23 is still very young . you are making a decision that will affect you the rest of your life..and we are promised 70 years...so make sure you make a good decision. You do not, I repeat ..you do NOT want a revision surgery. And your nose is a huge deal..Thats how you breathe..if the surgeon makes one wrong thing..you can have breathing problems or not like your results. I had breathing problems with my primary and could not breathe out of my right nostril when I was laying down, which affected my sleep.Im stressing this so much to you because I had to have a revision done. If you are strongly considering korea, I would recommend going to GNG because they are ENT specialist and they make good noses. They might be on the expensive end, but I think it will be worth it
sweetpotato1996
Yeah, I personally have never had any qualms or moral objections to plastic surgery. It's not like we get to choose how we look and what features we have. I like everything else about myself except my face, so I'm just gonna change it so I can become happy with everything. But I find some people will never understand plastic surgery, and will always be against it no matter what. Oh, I wasn't clear just now, I actually have a very clear idea of what I want done, but I don't know if I'll have enough money for it. My nose job will be very complicated, I'll need many things done on it so I feel it will be much more than what people usually pay. I will be bringing around $25 000-28 000 CAD and I have a feeling the rhinoplasty will be at least $10 000. If I still have enough money, I will do facial contouring and eyelid revision - but those seem quite pricey for foreigners. Anything other than that (like implants), I'm not interested in and no clinic will be able to convince me otherwise. Thanks for your reply! sweetpotato1996
I dunno, I find she doesn't have the same views on beauty as most Asians do... she hates the idea of jaw shaving and literally thinks people who do it will have no good fortune and will be punished later on. She is okay with rhinoplasty but I don't know if I'll ever get her approval on facial contouring. It probably is good to have someone with you, but I'll probably stay for around a month and there is no way my mom has that much time, she is a busy working woman. I have a friend in Korea though, so I could ask her perhaps
sweetpotato1996
Thank you so much for your help! The thing is, I have wanted these procedures since I was 13, and I have been so miserable with the way I look since I was a kid. Everything else about my life is great except for the fact that I am uncomfortable with my face (my nose, face shape, and eyes). I don't want anything else, I haven't spent money on anything else these years and will not for a long time in order to save up for plastic surgery. I just really want everything done immediately so I can enjoy the results for as long as possible. Even though I'm still young, I realize how fast time flies by and I actually don't have that much time left. A century isn't even that long. I have been thinking of getting everything done at one clinic so that I only have to go through the recovery once and it would be cheaper too. I've seen some people on here have done that. But of course, clinics good for one thing may not be good at another thing. Yeah, I've seen the most positive mentions for rhinoplasty for GNG, but I don't know if they are good for other things. I am considering either GNG, View, or Opera. But I have a lot of problems with my nose now (the bridge is crooked, one nostril is higher than the other, alars are too big), and I want to get it fixed with no implant. It doesn't seem like there is a place other than GNG that produces such drastic but natural results. I will be devasted if I need a revision, after years of saving up. What do you think about View for noses? Many people on here have said good things about View as well. Any clinic that is full of locals seems good, right? kpsa
Sounds like you really do know what you want, which is great. As for rhino, you can also have a look at 101 plastic surgery, april31, Girin, Migo, MVP and the Line since they have comparatively more positive than negative reviews. Anyway, good luck! merose
All those clinics produce very natural results and as she said she needs a lot done including alars, they don't seem to be right for her.@KPSA, I wonder what is your role on here? I've noticed that you are constantly on here to give advices, most of which are not really helpful. If you try to use this as a way to get people to buy your report then forget about that. Most information you know is only from this forum and if you can do research, others can too. Nobody would spend money to buy something they can easily do for themselves. sweetpotato1996
Thanks! I never considered those clinics before, but I'll have a look. But ideally, I'd like to find somewhere that is good for facial contouring and eyes as well. Thanks so much!
sweetpotato1996
Is there somewhere you would recommend? I want to find a place that is popular among locals and doesn't charge too much.
sweetpotato1996
Yes, View is one of the top two clinics on my list! It is one of the few clinics that seems good for rhinoplasty and facial contouring! Could you send me your before and after pictures (if you don't mind)? krod2017
I understand how you feel. I wanted surgery at a very young age as well. I also chose a clinic based on cheap price and wanting all my surgeries "done and out of the way" . Big mistake. I don't know about view too much..havent seen most of their before and afters , just a few..but the few I seen were nice .but I would advise you to create an account on soyoung.com and start browsing different clinics before and after pictures. If you can not read chinese, browse the page on google chrome (which translates to english) Im not sure if view clinic are ear nose and throat specialist..but I know that GNG are.. and baum specializes in rhinoplasty. Baum has some really good results ..but others are just OK. you should look into them as well. I would get eyes and nose done together, and do jaw surgery another trip (if thats what you want).
