hoeeekage Posted February 5, 2018 Posted February 5, 2018 Hey no problem! The more the merrier ^~^ but yeah,I plan on living in South Korea so studying abroad there kills two birds with one stone! The reason I want to do my surgery while I am there is because I don't have to fly back and forth for check ups and stuff, and if I plan to get fat graft, then I can get additional redeposition later on without worrying. It also improves my language and understanding of the culture, like you said, which will help when I'm teaching there! ☺️ I am so excited, just worried about if I will have enough money ;-;
purplesky123 Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 YESS OMG, let us tackle everything you mentioned here!! I am happy you aren't rushing. I wanted to PM about financial issues haha because that's one of the reasons I still cant get anything done at all!! I was wondering if you had anything saved or working yet to get these procedures done. Because from my calculations, the cost of travel, accomodations, food and a place to stay with the fat graft to get a BABY face will cost about 6 thousand. I said that but it may be more or less depending on which clinic ofcourse. Now about the Rhino surgery, that's where the big bucks will go because I promise you have to do it in the U.S (Is that where you are?). They average around 10k. Omg I wish I could win the lottery. Ok so about the rhino, you asked if price and procedure matters. Yes they do, for people who need a lot of work done like removing the hump, rotating the nasal tip and what not, but YOU only need the tip to be lifted, which actually in turn will not allow your nostrils to show like you see them show now, BUT if you want even less of nostrils to show, they actually do have a procedure for that. BUT I recommend you just do the closed nasal tip lift and see if that is enough to fix the issue. They do simulations before the procedures anyway to show you what you will look like. This is where the surgeon makes a huge difference, this needs a work of ART they have to understand how features work and harmonize together or else, your nose will look "off" and "fake". The surgeon I recommended has so much skill. OK back to your photos and whats "wrong" with them. YES LIGHTING and the lens you are using makes a HUGE difference, I promise. I am so glad I discovered this because I swear I looked like a cave man too, like a Neanderthal actually which is even worse. YOU HAVE TO take a picture from far away, someone else has to take of you and it has to be reversed so its the way everyone else sees you. meaning if you look at a mirror, your left hand should actually be on the right in a photo. The best and most accurate cell phone cam that I have seen so far is the iPhone 8 but I am not sure if you have that. ALso remember distance makes a huge difference because the lens you at using will distort your facial sizes and proportions even when Items in your picture look exactly the same. Its so weird but yeah that kills our self image and self esteem. You say you see your eyes as cave manish, OMG that is exactly one of the issues I have with my face and I finally figured why, and I see what you mean with yourself too. The thing is our orbital bone shows a bit more because we have a HIGH crease in our eyes. The solution is so simple and I want to do it too, get UPPER EYELID fillers. Yes like the photo below look how softer her eyes look. I NOTICED in all young teens and kids, this area is very full. This makes one look SO MUCH younger, fuller and cuter. SEE the upper brow area is no longer HOLLOW. I need this so bad! SO you should get a filler in this area and NOT fat injections because this area is unforgiving if one messes up and I haven't seen Korean surgeons do this at all, even though they should, but Asians have different eyes and eye orbitals so that may be the reason.
purplesky123 Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 Sorry more of my convo below lol And the two images of the cheeks above actually are for the post below, they wont make sense up there but I cant remove them lol, they will make sense in the post below but they are there as attachments.
purplesky123 Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 I AM ADDING MORE here since it was too much to post in one reply: Now about your Jaw, I have seen many do a needle procedure, so you don't actually have to break your jaw where they shape it to look more v-line. You can start with that and see if you like the results or not. This is done in korea though, so while you get a fat transfer to your mid face, which is the part that actually makes us look younger, and also near the corner of the mouth where it makes our faces look cute chubby and pinchable lol. These areas are key. WHile you get the fat transfer, do the non invasive jaw slimming injections. BUT with the fat transfer, it actually makes the jaw look slimmer and your cheeks "chubbier" more baby like. SO you will see that for yourself. BY the way, hairstyle makes a huge difference. Did you ever consider getting bangs? They actually make you look younger, make the face appear smaller and can also hide your orbital eye area if you cut them RIGHT above your eyelashes, it will bother you sometimes lol but its worth it. OH and I have to mention, the face shape I noticed makes a HUGE difference. I noticed MOST cute and baby faces celebs have a HEART shaped face. So a WIDE jawline and a small chin with a SHORT midface. This is why jaw surgery isn't always the case. I say work on the midface first and see how that plays with the shape and angles. You need the zygoma bone of your face to show less, so you can have a baby face curve. The zygoma bone is what gives us that ANGULAR defined and more mature look, you need baby fat right under that bone so the face curves slowly and smoothly like this image below:View attachment 3958796 Also the area that needs more fat that I mentioned earlier near the mouth lol, is this area:View attachment 3958797 HAHA yes I frequent and ask questions on realself ALL the time but here is the thing. They are very conservative here and the surgeons here in the U.S are NOT familiar with the correct and right procedures to make one actually look younger. Ever see celebs with weird plastic look? Because the surgeons are injecting and adding more volume to the WRONG parts of the face, they actually add more volume to the ZYGOMA which is WRONG lol, it makes people look distorted and weird, like look at the image below, look at her inflated zygoma (look up zygoma bone on google so you aren't confused and know exactly the area I am showing you): AS you can see in those two women above, the bone is accuentiated, created a more rugged and angular look, not cute at all. They actually look older than their before. Their after is just NOPE. The surgeons here don't have the aesthetic eye for making one actually look younger, they literally have it ALL wrong, this is why Korean surgeons are amazing at what they do. So now about nasiolabial folds, I am getting those done too and in Korea you can ask the surgeon to correct that area, they are really good at these things. When you mentioned Shadows on the face, YES OMG, good job, very articulate and you have an eye for things. Shadows are created by angles, folds and creases, we need to remove as many angles from our faces as possible and actually Asian surgeons understand this concept very well, they even tell you they want to get rid of shadows. So key places to target, the upper brow bone will create a shadow over your eye making it hollow, so fillers there is a great idea. Shadows are created on the face (especially the sides and frontal) when our mid face begins to collapse, so fillers to midface is important. OH and how can I forget the under eyes!! This is a huge problem for me personally and you don't seem to have that issue but with fat placement, they can make under eye shadows go away. SO FOR NOW, if you don't have the money or nothing, that would make me and you. The best you can do, is get bangs, it makes your face smaller, takes away years, and can hide the orbital bone while your bangs are right above your eyes. Make sure they are actually thick enough to cover your eyebrows, no waspy see through bangs. You should get ones like these below: Make sure they angle on the sides, to hide the temple area (side of the forhead which actually accentuates the zygoma bone, I am not sure if youll get that but trust me on this one lol): so it should curve like this; THIS will actually make the color of your eyes the main focus, making it so pretty and at the same time mask the hollowness. It is prefect and I can invision you with bangs, they will look so cute on you!! I hope you like them but it really would work. Look up Zoey deshannel bangs she has cute ones!
purplesky123 Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 OK so now, about the PRP micro needling, YES YES YES. This is something I wanted for a looooong time. I want to spill my secrets to you about skin perfection in provate lol. But this method is the best one, the needling and prp. BUT please please don't ever do laser or fraxel of ANY kind. Many surgeons don't even know the harm behind it. The lasers actually are really bad, they penetrate and break down your facial fat making you LOSE that fat and age you within a year. There are many many horror stories about fraxel and lasers done to the face, STAY FAR FAR away please. That is the opposite of what you want to do. I suffered from acne all my life and I now know EXACTLY what needs to be done without so much expensive crap, I am new to this so I will pm you in private about skin and acne issues. The only thing you cant do alone (well you can but I don't recommend it and it needs someone professional is the microdneeling and prp. Ofcourse prp CANNOT be done on yourself, a surgeon has to be the one to do it, so invest in that. This has been ALOT for you to read but keep going back and scanning my essay lol, take my advice, I promise it will be very helpful to you. This is me doing the most EXTENSIVE research and years and years of reading, scoping, gathering and saving info and analyzing everything. I literally know what works and what doesn't by now. I may sound like I am conceded and full of myself but I just want you to know that I have done ALOT of research on these things because we have ONE FACE and ONE LIFE, you don't want to regret anything and become another horror story. I want us to go through this journey together, you are NOT alone. We literally have the SAME EXACT problems and issues. Love you sis and I will pm you about the skin issues! AHH I just realized that I CANNOT pm you, meh I don't really know this forum well.
lonekitty Posted February 12, 2018 Author Posted February 12, 2018 Obligatory new batch of selfies: Sorry about the grumpiness; it's hard not to feel this way. And unfortunately I almost feel as if I look more ill as the days go on. Improvement: I wasn't crying this time at least? Hey purplesky!! Sorry about the no comment for a while, I never got an email so I thought the thread had finally died or something. Thank god it didn't. I will directly reply to you in a bit, just doing an update. This week has been really rough for me and today was no different; I'm taking a painting class for fun and I already felt pessimistic about it because I just knew something would go wrong. My partner's portrait of me honestly made me wonder if the mirror and EVEN the pictures I've been taking are even accurate at all...in FACT, of all things I'm beginning to think they were flattering or something. Crazy eye bags, tiny eyes, really pronounced, protruding mouth and jaw, paired with really bad nasolabial folds. These scarily sharp cheekbones too. Wtf. This guy was actually a great artist on the other ones, very accurate...and, unfortunately, his portrait of me was easily the ugliest of everyone's. I looked like a cavebeast. Also, he painted the shadows of my face and...yup, he definitely captured the issue with my cheek/zygoma region with terrifying accuracy. A weird deposit of fat making the shadows of my midface even worse and more hollow-looking. Again, this makes me remember how my two dormmates warned me against losing weight. They wouldn't tell me if it'd make me look worse...I mean, I can go to my other dorrmmate (actually Korean) and ask her opinion. Maybe she'll be honest with me. I'm currently 150 at 5"6. So, guys, serious question. Should I bother losing more weight? I did ask it earlier but it's as relevant as ever. Purplesky this is a good question for you too because you seem to understand my face well. The problem is that I do have somewhat of a belly and waist fat...at least 10 pounds of unhealthiness. It's frustrating because at this point I realize that maybe my bone structure really is no good after all and it again makes me feel so trapped. Like...what if my undereye region somehow gets even worse? What about my nasolabial folds? Should I simply work on building muscle+working out, while eating a lot? Even if I'll always have that weird belly...? And I wanted to ask everyone... What procedures can I safely get in the US that have been brought up in this thread? I'm still thinking about what I can do during spring break to refresh me. That'll be in a month and I'll have up to 3 weeks, maybe. I say that because I'd say finals week is skippable for me (all I have to do is turn in projects) as well as the first week of next quarter. Budget is....2000$, I'd say. Oh yeah. Something a bit funnier. You know those 3D massage tools used for various things, like the v-line? Do they work at all? I was just thinking about how I do have a very chubby jawline...idk though. Seems so silly to think it'd do anything but I think I'd like some input. It'd be a huge confidence boost if I could refine that area. And if only it could do something for my weird nasolabial folds.
lonekitty Posted February 12, 2018 Author Posted February 12, 2018 This seems short enough to reply to! I'm opening up evernote and writing this stuff down! I'll look into these methods a little and see just how much they can do...honestly if I get an overall boost that'd be like a boost to my spirit. Though again to be fair, my acne issues are being addressed by my tret prescription I got two weeks ago, probably. I still *have* to see if I'm purging right now and if I'll clear up in a few weeks.
kc_134 Posted February 12, 2018 Posted February 12, 2018 Hey! okay so... where do I begin? Perhaps you're not surrounding yourself with the right people but I will be one of them for you. I am brutally honest and I am telling you: You are GORGEOUS. Seriously. I'm 22 and reading your story...I saw so much of myself in you. I used to look at myself in the mirror and I didn't understand how my outside appearance didn't match up with who I was on the inside. And that ate me up. I believe cosmetic procedures is your body, your choice. However, what I don't agree with is wanting to change your appearance based on what people have said about you or how you feel about your self-worth. That is not okay. you say you're planning on going in the Spring...I have nothing against that as I am going during summer break for 3 weeks. However, based on your posts and how negative you feel about yourself I highly recommend you talk to someone. Universities offer therapy sessions either for free through insurance or through a very low rate, and it wouldn't hurt to speak to someone before you go to Korea to make sure you're in the right mindset. Not only is cosmetically enhancing your features physically challenging, but also mentally. I've accepted myself for who I am, and luckily enough I have grown out of that dark state where I just practically hated what I saw in the mirror. There are some things that I am going to enhance through surgery, but I have a very realistic approach towards it all, and even if I don't go through the surgeries I'll still be satisfied with what I look like in the end. No one is perfect, and it seems like you're having a hard time aesthetically than others, but everyone goes through these phases of not liking themselves or not feeling good enough or pretty enough. Whatever you decide to do under the knife, please do it with a clear mindset, and don't you dare do it because of what others have told you in the past. Because I am telling you now, you're gorgeous.
kc_134 Posted February 12, 2018 Posted February 12, 2018 As far as your skin goes, have you consulted with an aesthecian? Microneedling helps with tightening your skin, fighting wrinkles, and encourage cell turnover to eliminate hyperpigmentation and acne scars over time. Surgically, I personally haven't done research on it but look into thread lifting. If anything that I'd suggest you do, I'd probably look into a rhinoplasty first. For the eyes, if it's really bothering you, before you go the permanent route try doing fillers under the eyes. It really helps to lift and smooth the surface, as well as hide the dark circles. Just take things slow and don't go overboard. But please consider my previous comment!
lonekitty Posted February 12, 2018 Author Posted February 12, 2018 About the bangs...yes, I was really considering them and was thinking of getting a haircut when my check comes in later this week, but...the thing is...my hair is awful. It really is. It is so wispy and not really thick enough to compensate for this. It's even warned against girls with my hair type to even get bangs. I think the only way it would work is if my bangs are only partial...is it even possible to do successful side swept bangs or do I have to go all the way in? Can you please suggest some compromises I can make? I genuinely can't have dense bangs unless I do some wacky hair implant or something. Here's a Zoey bang style that I think I have enough hair to do: and two pics of my hair...mostly bedhead, but thoroughly washed. It really can't get any thicker, unfortunately. My hair is baby fine gets greasy quickly. I'll probably have to constantly use dry shampoo on my bangs to keep them in shape. Also what's your opinion on an dye job? I suppose I can't actually go with much darker hair because my hair texture can't take it, it'll look bad. But at the same time I feel as if my current hair color isn't doing it for me. So you're saying that I can't really get anything about my midface or nose done till I'm in Korea? Damn, that's a longshot. Would microneedling or undereye fillers or a fat graft there be okay in the US? I am following what you're saying. I just have a headache, ha. So much info to take in. I'll be back sometime later to say anything else I want to say--I have class to fret about first! I can't always skip cuz I'm feeling down in the dumps. I get what you mean about the angular thing, especially now that I've seen the painting.
lonekitty Posted February 12, 2018 Author Posted February 12, 2018 Ah, hello there. I'd respond to your other msg but I'm about to bounce. Honestly I feel so weird about the rhinoplasty...it costs so much and sometimes it feels like the least of my problems, though of course I'd love to consider getting the tip lift if I could do it on my limited budget. I will look into thread lifting, thank you. My evernote is going to be so messy after I'm done with all my research. Annnnd I'm really liking what I'm hearing about microneedling though the real sell for me is whether or not it'd actually help with my droopy nasolabial folds tighten up a lil...though now that I think about it my skin does look pretty bad still.
lonekitty Posted February 13, 2018 Author Posted February 13, 2018 I don't know, I'm pretty sure at this point that I just have a talent for taking flattering pictures or something, somehow. >.< I want to go to the gym and go on adventures, and I want to be the best me I can be for when I do go on a real non-webcam date with my boyfriend, but...yeah...nothing that has happened to me in real reaffirms any of what you're saying. When a girl is attractive there's usually a billion ways of her knowing that...and since I know I'm unattractive and have many bad days where I know I look worn out as hell and/or aren't wearing make-up but still get people to do double takes at me in very unnatural situations (like they're sitting in class in front of me and just can't stop looking back)...it's just very soul-crushing. Really is. I feel like as I am I'm just unpresentable or something, or a circus side show, or that I must look creepy...I don't think I could be okay, not like this, and I find it hard to do the things I want to do. And I meant that I'd stay here and get a procedure done during spring break because the Korea trip will be a much bigger deal and I'll have to find a proper source of funding for it--so I'm leaving it for the summer.
kc_134 Posted February 13, 2018 Posted February 13, 2018 I wish it were that simple to get your mindset into a more positive space, I really do. But just take things slow one step at a time. Change what you are able to physically change through your own endeavors. So go to the gym, I promise you no one really looks at you as they are just focused in their own workout. If anything they might just glance but that's just a human thing to do. Go to the gym, get a hair makeover, and go to therapy. If you really want something invasive to help correct some problems temporarily, go see a plastic surgeon or a RN who is skilled in botox and filler. Botox lasts around 6 months, and fillers last around 6 months - 2 years depending on which filler you are using. At least this should allow you to see what the permanent results will be like before you dive in doing a whole surgical makeover.
lonekitty Posted February 13, 2018 Author Posted February 13, 2018 Hmm, I see. I'll have to first decide for certain what I need done. I'm still afraid the fillers/botox would look fake. My bone structure and face type would be incredibly difficult to work with, especially with what I want done. ....and unfortunately that's not the case at the gym. Got off the trendmill when the guy next to me kept on looking at me with this slightly spooked expression. I didn't even notice him till I was packing my stuff and saw his entire head was turned towards me. He looked so spooked and perplexed. Something like that always seems to happen...I think I'm going to go jogging pre-sunrise once spring hits so no on can see me. >.< Anyways, an update. I actually found a key problem with my face--one that I actually noticed on my mom a while back. I always thought it looked a bit odd...I had never seen it on anyone else. It wasn't really like me to notice anything specific about a person's appearance, either, so you can imagine that it was really obvious. I have kind of an ape-like mouth bone area. Specifically, you know how the mouth area protrudes? I have a slight variant of that. It's like the setting of the teeth is more forward than it is on other people. I remember a while back this mean guy pointed it out to me using the accurate scientific name and I ended up forgetting it, not really taking it personally. But...I've pretty much figured it out, especially because of the painting. You can't really see it in the pictures unless you take it under really nasty lighting. However, it is fairly obvious--in fact the nasolabial fold? There seems to be this large indentation of where the mouth area sticks out and where it meets the cheek area. I tried pulling back my zygoma/cheek fat and...the nasolabial fold and strange indentation was still there. The hollow look of the lower cheek area/midface was still present, the odd shadowing (if a little more even) too. It was again very unsettling...because, honestly, what can you do about the upper teeth area?? It's attached to the skull. T.T That reminds me. In my life I've had this weird..."Cinderella" thing going on, except she wasn't beautiful--it was only the magic. And it goes away. I think I mentioned that girl from prom who said I looked like a heartbreaker...she paired up with a friend to shoot down my self-depreciating comments...then when she found me at school later on she looked at me in disgust and said that I looked different, then turned away before I could even say a thing. The difference? The lighting, it was under the night sky with some fluffy lighting at prom. And I've had other experiences. Guys ACTUALLY showing interest in me. Smiling, for example, when they pass by. I remember at the beach I was very tired and took a seat by the log at the cliff foot in the early evening with the sun just gone down. About 50 hot, fit guys past by me and every single one smiled and warmly greeted me even though I was very grumpy and worn out. I was not feeling confident at all, nor was I wearing anything sexy (oversized t-shirt). Even offered to help me. Same in other situations too. Guys actually talking to me or flirting... outside of those situations I've gotten pretty much next to nothing because I am actually ugly and saggy looking. Tl;dr it literally is all in the lighting, unfortunately. Now, to put together my battle plan on how to fix the awful planes of my face.
kc_134 Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 Regarding your concern of looking fake with botox and fillers if you go to a really reputable plastic surgeon or RN, the results turn out to be really natural. Don't go to a medical spa if the injector is not an RN or a plastic surgeon - too many people will sit in on a two day course to get their certification and unknowing clients are the poor victims of their lack of experience. Let me ask you this, do you like Chocolate Ice cream? Vanilla? Or how about Mint chocolate Chip? Chances are, not everyone likes the same flavors, and that goes for other things. Not everyone is attracted to the same type of person. So for whoever gave you a look that you perceived to be negative, that's just life and you have to accept it. But what you can do is focus on the fact that there were a group of guys, FIFTY guys, who all liked what they saw when they saw you! You can spend all day on this forum or all day in real life moping about how life is treating you badly, how you're not getting a certain type of attention based on how you look. But you know what, looks aren't everything. Personalities can actually change how someone's beauty appears to the eye of the beholder, but I'm sure you've heard that before. So like I said, change what you, yourself can change. Talk to a therapist, and focus on the positives in your life even though they may SEEM scarce. If you keep talking down about yourself, you're going to be filling your life with such negative energy and it'll seem impossible to get out of. But at the end of the day, it's your life, and it's your choices. For me, I choose happiness. I hope you do too.
