Opinions and experiences --> rhinoplasty VIP Dr. Myong Lee

Recommended Posts

Hallo Forum members,

first I would like to thank you all for sharing your opinions and research regarding rhinoplasty surgery in Asia. I especially am thankful for threads like "blacklisted clinics". Much respect to those who make huge efforts in order to warn others from bad experiences!

I personally had 2 rhinoplasties already, whereby the 2nd was a reconstruction surgery by lenghening the nose with nasal septum caritilage and regenerating my nasal breathing that was destroyed after the first operation performed by Dr. Fuchsuber at the Sophienklinik in Stuttgart Germany. The 2nd Operation was performed by Prof. Gubisch at the Marienhospital also in Stuttgart Germany.

While I am pleased with the fact that my nasal breathing is functional again my nose is a mess from an aesthetic ooint of view. My origin nose was very big, straight and spiky, so the nose should only be scaled-down in size only a bit. The surgeon Dr. Fuchshuber shortened my nose way too much, the result was desastrous, he did not nail the simulation BY FAR. I then decided to do a reconstruction Operation by the "famous" Prof. Gubisch. He achieved slight asthetical improvements and regenerated my nose breathing but he missed to enlarge my nose to that extend that I wanted him to. I also wanted him to take rib cartilage from me in order to use it if necessaty but he decided not to for unknown reasons.

The current Situation is the following: My nose is still too short, the nose tip is too round, my nose bridge too deep and my nasal wings are still way too compressed and when i touch them I can fell that they are under tension. I can't live with this. I uploaded photos after the 1st surgery for you. My current nose Looks Pretty much the same even after 2nd surgery, so the photos should suffice.

I am in contact wih VIP Plastic Surgery at the moment and have head good things about them so far but I have to admit that there a only few reviews on this and on the realself forum. For lengthening my nose and heightening the nasal Bridge I will Need rib cartilage for sure. That is why I am interested in VIP, as Dr. Lee is a eevision and rib cartilage expert.

That's why I really am IN NEED of your OPINIONS and EXPERIENCES!!! Please help…thank you!

Kind regards,
tekniko

Thanks for your answer. The Problem is that I Need a surgeon who is specialised on reconstruction surgery with rip cartilage as I want my nose to get bigger in size. When you do Research in that direction you often come up with Dr. Lee from Vip and Dr. Kim from April31. Do you know any other highy recommended reconstruction specialist?

Hi tekniko. U must be my twin, haha. Had 2 surgeries with Prof. Gübish too, paid a ****load of cash for mediocre results. Had revision with Dr. Lee at VIP - full rib - in January this year & I love my results. I`ll be going back for a slight revision, I would like him to reduce my bridge & lower my tip, but overall impressive, solid work. He was recommended to me by another patient who also had 2 failed rhinos by Prof. Gübisch. Highly recommend him. My advise, make a trip to Seoul, consult with several doctors to see who is the best for the aesthetic you are looking for. Another clinic that has been recommended here for full rib is Dr. Paik, PS101. Good Luck!

I was also looking for some post on Dr.Lee's work. I'm scheduled to have surgery Nov 20th. Rhinoplasty with cartilage, mid face augmentation and genioplasty. I've been messaging back and forth with Dani and she put me at ease. Answered all my questions. I was going to go with Grand plastic and ID but thank God and who ever was looking out and I was able to find not so great things about them.

VIP is definitely expensive. 2x as much but I feel he's more thorough. Other places rush to take my deposit. Almost as costly as the Beverly hills doctors that quoted me as well but they all wanted to do implants. Dr.Lee advised to go natural bc its less risky for the body and the natural bone wont break down over time bc of the implant. I know my results wont be extremely different but more so it sounds like it's just to improve what I have and make it better. I just hope the nose has definition and a defined tip after he's done. They will provide airport pick up and sleep accommodation while I'm there along with the shampoo and anti swelling treatment there. Thank goodness bc ive seen the YouTuber's not being able to wash their hair!

I'll keep guys updated!

Has anyone else gone here and what are your experiences? Before and after photos? Thanks in advance.

I am considering Dr Lee for a revision rhinoplasty. I have my surgery done in Beverly Hills with rib but for some reason it did not "stick" even though no implants were used and collapsed 4 weeks after. I've been doing a lot of research but it seems Dr Lee is the top revision surgeon who uses rib. I am looking at Dr Hyun Taek Lee too but I've only seen reviews where he used silicone implants.

I did an online consult with VIP and Jessica and received a very long, thorough and detailed analysis and plan for my nose.

Pics of my nose 3 weeks after primary surgery with Asian dr in Beverly Hills, and then now.

Yes it was. He can fix it, would need to redo the whole thing... but I'm wondering if its something in the technique or material (diced rib cartilage) used that causes it. Dr Lee had mentioned that potentially the latter is the issue. Because if we don't know what caused it what if it collapses again?

Wow, I have never seen such a resorption of rib cartilage. Your surgeon must have done something very wrong or he just used not enough rib cartilage? I must say the operated nose looked VERY good though. You should most definately request the Operation report and all documentation on your surgery. Get a lawyer if he Plays difficult!

Please read the first post!

Cartilage implants for rhino has been known to reabsorb over time, however it happening this fast is shocking. Did he say how often this happens with his patients and what's the likelihood of it happening again if a revision is done given how your body reacted the first time? Maybe for some reason your immune system is seeing the diced cartilage as a foreign body and thus removing it.

@tekniko thanks, I liked my immediate after too. Also, that post is helpful. Imagine the shock of waking up one morning and seeing that change. I got the operation report and a family friend read it who is a plastic surgeon said that everything was done correctly, proper procedure, good technique, etc. He also said what happened to me is fairly uncommon but he didn't to use the word "rare". He also said probably no one will ever know why, and that one possibility is that it was the diced cartilage (I don't understand - is that the same thing as rib cartilage?) or maybe that I was one of a very unlucky few people who got an infection that went out of control.

@Gats I thought using cartilage (rib) is supposed to be permanent? I find all the terminology so confusing even after googling it (dcf is used with rib or ear?) The surgeon said said this is extremely uncommon for his patients. He seems to think this is a freak occurence basically (this theory is supported by the other dr I asked, who said maybe an infection). He said he feels very confident that he can make it work this time around. While he isn't sure what the cause is, he would like to fix it and believes he can. He said maybe this time he won't be projecting it out as much time in case the weight of it made it collapse, or to try ear. If he were to use ear, he would not have to use DCF? If I should avoid using DCF, what other option do I have? It seems like my nose has already declared that it doesn't like unwanted visitors so I think silicone implants are out of the question...buuuuut i have had eyelid surgery and breast implants which turned out fine. So it's not my first rodeo.
