  1. For my first rhino, the surgeon used my ear cartilage and my ear does not look any different - In fact, I can't quite remember which ear he took the cartilage from. What's the invisible implant?
I have double eyelids/hooded eyes already... I just have mongolian folds. But I think I read somewhere that if I try to have them removed, it would leave a scar.

  2. ...Got a response from GNG...

Take note that the consultation is based on photos you submitted and that the precise surgery plan can only be made after face to face consultation with the specialist. During the consultation, the doctor will recommend the most ideal surgery plan for each individual to achieve their ideal look.

From the photos, it appears that you could consider the following:

    • Rhinoplasty (tip/bridge correction) for projection of nasal tip and the bridge
    • Osteotomy to reduce the broadness of top nasal bridge
    • Alar reduction to improve the bulbous nose

As this is revision case, the doctor is likely to either recommend donated rib cartilage or your own cartilage to use for sturdiness and least chance of inflammation.

For epicantoplasty, the doctor specialized in eye surgery may/may not recommend the procedure as it appears you already have broad opening of inner eye corner.

Below is the cost of procedures:

    * Do take note that the final price can only be finalized depending on surgery plan after examination and face to face consultation with the doctor. After a thorough test, he/she will recommend the most ideal surgery plan for each individual.

If you have done rhinoplasty before, the surgery cost starts from 5,000,000 won (The price is subject to change depends on your surgical plan) - including nose bridge + nose tip.(Patient needs to wait at least 6 months and it is just rough estimate and doctor needs to check your CT-scan, scar tissue, skin condition, etc and can let you know whether you can get a reoperation.)
If you require additional procedures, there are additional charges.
"Alar reduction(additional 1,000,000KRW instead of its original cost:2,000,000KRW), hump reduction, osteotomy(1,000,000 each and 1,500,000KRW for both) which is nasal bony reduction, donated cartilage rib/septum (1,000,000KRW),

If you are interested in our NoPlant Rhinoplasty, which uses diced cartilage wrapped in fascia in the place of an artificial implant, then the base price starts at 5.5 million KRW or if you prefer to use your own cartilage, then NoPlant Rib Rhinoplasty starts at 11,000,000KRW.

    functional surgery(about ~2,000,000KRW) etc."

If you get your canthoplasty it is 1,000,000KRW per area.

*All prices are subject to 10% VAT but are refundable. After your surgery, we will issue a tax refund document and you can get back about 8% after government deducts processing fee at the airport when you leave.

The prices are inclusive of medicine, airport car service, taxi service on the day you are discharged, translation, pre-op health examinations, overnight hospitalization(depending on the surgery), post-op swelling and bruising care, as well as anesthesia and doctor fees, etc.

Based on our current promotion, you can get an additional 15% discount from the total cost of the procedure if you put up 1 million KRW deposit in advance, which is refundable if the refund request is made according to our policy. Once the deposit is received, we will book surgery date for you and also provide complimentary airport pick-up service. Do let us know if you would like more information about the deposit and the refund policy.

I really am impressed with how thorough GNG's feedback was. To be honest, I've never really given much thought to having an osteotomy or alar reduction. - I have never researched them because A) when I had my first rhinoplasty, my only concern was giving myself a bridge, and B) up until now, my only concern was fixing my deviated implant and refining my tip. Can anyone share their insight/experience/opinions with osteotomy and/or alar reduction? How natural/unnatural are the outcomes of these procedures?

  3. Hey Fortunecat! Thanks for the advice. I think it was more of a disappointment because I was comparing it to JK. With JK, they came out guns blazin, including transportation and hotel accommodations. - MVP missed the mark by not addressing one of my inquiries/surgeries. It's kind of hard for me to not discern that when one place goes above and beyond and the other doesn't come through. But I'm still considering them... I have a few more offices I still need to hear back from.

  4. So MVP sent a response with a quote today... this is what they said...

Yes I can see the unnatural contours caused by the deviated implant. The way to correct this is to remove and replace your existing L-shaped implant. You can also improve on your bridge definition and height and refine your nose tip while we're at it.

The procedure should cost around KRW 4.5 mil - 6 mil, depending on the level of complexity of the case (Dr will examine the area during consultation) and will require about a week's stay for stitches removal.

I'm actually disappointed with MVP. I asked them about a medial epicanthoplasty alongside a revision rhino... unfortunately they didn't address it.

I'm still waiting for Hanabi, GNG, and VIP. I'm contemplating on contacting Dr. Jin, but from what I gather, he only does rib, and the thought just really makes me nauseous!

  5. So I got my first quote back from JK and I thought I'd share with others. This is what they sent me...

    *Epicanthoplasty : 1,350,000 KRW
-This procedure can make your hooded/closed frontal corners of the eyes more opened. Together with double eyelid surgery, this method can make your eyes bigger not only vertically, but also horizontally to give a more refreshing look.

    *Transconjunctival Fat Reposition: 2,250,000 KRW
-This is a minimally invasive surgery that makes incisions inside the lower eyelids (conjunctiva), so there will be no visible scarring. Using these incisions, the bulging fat of your eye fat bag will be re-positioned to fill out the sunken area for a smoother appearance. This procedure is also effective in improving dark circles

*Rhinoplasty (nasal bridge + tip): 6,750,000 KRW
-This procedure uses your own septal cartilage to build a new framework for the nasal tip. In case the septal cartilage is too weak or small, your own ear cartilage may be used together or instead. To raise the nasal bridge, a silicone implant will be inserted, and this will make a natural smooth curve from the start of the nose to the tip. These procedures will make your nose better shaped..

For this procedure, we recommend staying in Korea for 7 days after surgery.

*Recommendations on procedures may change during your in-person consultation with the doctor. For revision surgery, there will be additional charges.
*Please note, the cost of the surgery does not include any prescribed medication.

Since 2016, JK has started a tax refund program for international patients. Just have your passport when you visit us and you can get approximately 7-8% of your money back from the total surgery fees.
Our slogan is “Safety is Non-Negotiable”. We’ve had zero medical accidents for 20 years. We provide a nursing team with 24-hour care, and a full-time anesthesiologist.
We can also arrange airport pick-up and hotel accommodations at our medical hotel, if you make a reservation and payment.

Airport Pickup (Incheon ↔ JK / Hotel)
    One way : 100,000 KRW
    Both ways : 200,000KRW
    Hotel Rate
    · Single : 200,000 KRW / night
    · Double : 250,000 KRW / night
    · VIP : 350,000 KRW / night
    * Breakfast and tax included

I initially never wanted anything but the revision rhinoplasty, but I ended up inquiring about a medial epicanthoplasty. I have mongolian folds that have only SOMETIMES bothered me throughout the years. I figured I'd go ahead and ask about it since I'm getting older and I noticed my eyes are starting to droop. But I only asked for medial and not DES. I actually like my hooded eyes and I don't want to change them. I'm going to have to ask them if medial requires DES. As far as the transconjunctival fat repositioning (I think that's lower blepharoplasty), I didn't ask for that, nor do I want it. But like I said, I'm getting older... and I think my wisdom is starting to show in my eyes! ;)

The amenities that JK is offering is a nice surprise. I wasn't expecting it, but it's nice knowing I have some solid numbers to start crunching. I'm still waiting for Hanabi and MVP to respond. I also tried to submit an inquiry to VIP, but I got an email stating my email failed. Does anyone know of another way I can contact them? Or, can I submit photos through Kakao Talk? I've never used that app, but I got it strictly for this PS process.

  6. I just sent my photos into a few different clinics, so I'm still waiting for my online "consultations" to come back. I imagine that a Dr. would evaluate the photos on a preliminary basis just to get the ball rolling for potential patients. I know seven years ago, I did a skype consultation with a revision rhinoplasty specialist in San Diego - unfortunately, I couldn't afford to get the surgery done because he quoted $10,000. At any rate, maybe some places offer video calls. And I'm guessing if there's enough communication between you, the translators, and the Drs., then you can move forward with face-to-face consultations.

  7. Hi everyone! I was wondering if anyone had information on JK Plastic Surgery. I've been looking at their website and instagram pages and I'm pretty impressed with their work and the services they provide during your stay. I can't seem to find reviews of them on PF, so I'm thinking they might be more popular with the locals rather than with foreign patients (even though some of their advertising lends itself to foreigners). Anyhow... I really like how this young lady's revision rhinoplasty turned out...

  8. I've been coming across quite a few threads that mention discounts and bargaining in Korea... I was just wondering, At what point during/after a consultation is it acceptable to haggle down a price? Some members have said that they have received discounts because they are having/have had multiple surgeries at once. I only want one procedure done. What leverage can I use to get a discount?

  9. Hi Everyone! I'm new to this forum, so first off, I'd like to start by saying thanks to everyone for sharing their advice and experiences.

Now about me... almost 19 years ago, I got my first rhinoplasty with L-shaped silicone implant (long time, I know). But I have never been really happy with the results... I have an "unusual contour" between my eyes because the implant is off to the left and movable, and my tip is more bulbous that my original nose. Over the years, I've consulted a few plastic surgeons in the US for revision, but I could never afford it, being that my quotes were from $7000-$10000 (the $7000 quote was back in 2004 and the $10000 quote was in 2012). So I've just opted to hide behind my glasses and/or wear as much makeup as I can to disguise what looks like a deformity.

Anyway, so now I want to jump the gun and start my journey to my revision rhinoplasty. I'm so glad I found this forum. Through the different threads that are being written about on this site, I've been able to research some of the different plastic surgery clinics in Korea. I'm really interested in consulting with Dr. Hong Ryul Jin (his website isn't in english... how would I get in contact with his office?), Wonjin Beauty, Hanabi, GNG, and VIP. Any advice or tips on these choices or if there are others that you think I should look into would be appreciated. And are there any plastic surgeons in Korea that specialize in revision rhinoplasty?

Also, I noticed that Hanabi has an Overseas Visitors Program, does anyone have insight on this? I thought I saw another clinic with a similar program, but I can't remember which one.

    Thanks again to everyone.
