For NANA, I think that the results are amazing, so they are my first pick, even if they are a bit expensive. The other two clinics on my list are BONGBONG and THE. I was able to find that BONGBONG offered full-face fat grafting for around $3,500, so that gives you an idea as to how expensive the other procedures might be. Regarding THE, I haven’t been able to get in contact with them through email yet, but as soon as I do manage, I will update here.

*I prefer consultation through email because I don’t have a lot of time to sit down and chat on KAKAOTALK or WHATSAPP.

I am going to try to get another price quote through MISOODA for all the above clinics. MISOODA generally quotes pretty low prices, so I can use that to negotiate.

2 Months ago I had plastic surgery in Seoul through Misooda at Hyundai Mihawk Clinic, and since my experience has been quite positive, I wanted to share my journey with you

FINDING A CLINIC WITH MISOODA
So 6 months ago I was looking for a clinic to have multiple procedures of plastic surgery in Seoul. I began to ask for a lots of quotations directly to clinics through mail and Kakao Talk. But the prices were always too high for me.
Finally, I ended up asking a quotation through Misooda after seeing their promotions for a rhinoplasty, eyes fat removal and fat grafting on their website.
(Just for the record: Misooda is not a plastic surgery clinic, it is a government licensed Medical Tourism Corporation who has arrangment with good reputations clinics to guarantee the lowest price on your quotation. When you contact them, you send them pictures of your desired intervention zone, that they send to clinics of their choice to negociate a global price and they come back to you to propose a few quotations to the best price they can have.)
I must confess that I was very sceptical at first, cause I didn't find any review on the net about them, and I thought they were fake because their promotions were too attractive to be real.
Well, I was completely wrong.
I communicated with Miss Miu (Misooda's employee) through Kakao Talk, and we ended up on two quotations by two clinics for the same procedures. I choose Hyundai Mihawk for this procedures and prices :

- Rhinoplasty (Full + Bump Removal + Deviated septum)
- Under eyes fat removal
- Full Face fat graft (Chin, cheeks, smile line, under eyes, forehead, temples)
- PRP
- Thread Lift
- Lip Filler
For 13 000 000 Wons (11 500 USD)
Once I agreed to that, I received a bill through Paypal for 10% of the total price to book my surgery date (on the 17th of july 2018).
At this point, Miss Miu regularly took news from surgery through Kakao, but it is the clinic who took care about the rest.

CONTACT WITH HYUNDAI MIHAWK
A few weeks before my trip, I contacted Hyundai through Kakao to settle the details for surgery day. Sky, who was my adorable translator at the clinic, arranged a free pick up service from airport to my airbnb for the day of my arrival and the day of my departure.

DAY BEFORE SURGERY
I had a first consultation the day before the surgery with Doctor Jeong to confirm what will be done exactly (from where will they collect fat for fat graft, the area where I will be filled, the interventions on my nose, how will the thread lift will be pulled to fix a little assymetry from left side on my face). At this point, I was really scared that the price might change from visual, but it stayed the same. Doctor even proposed free botox intervention around the eyes before I fly back to France.
Then I was told to come the day after at 9am for surgery.

DAY OF SURGERY
On the day of surgery, when I arrived at 9am, I was told to change, wash my face, rince my mouth. Then Doctor Jeong drew lines on my face and butt (for fat collecting), and I entered the surgery room few minutes later.
I was told surgery last about 4 or 5 hours. But for me, as long as I have been put to sleep, it last just one second.
I woke up really great compared to the major surgery I had been through, no major pain except from left side of my lower face where the thread lift had been pulled to fix my assymetry. I just felt tired and a little like "drunk". No nausea, no headache.
I could go home about three hours after surgery, Sky gently called a taxi for me.

DAY 1
The swelling began the day after surgery. I haven't slept really well during that night because my nose didn't stop bleeding, and I was forced to sleep on my back (I usually sleep on my side) with head up, which was very uncomfortable for me ! Also, the area where my fat was collecting was painful (that was the most painful zone from my surgery).
I had to go back to the clinic on that day at 2PM to remove the first bandages of my nose and cheeks. Nurse gently cleaned my face and replaced the bandages. I could come home right after.

FROM DAY 2 TO DAY 7
The major swelling last about 7 days. The one from my nose (under eyes) disappeared about 5 days after surgery. The one from face fat graft about 7 days. But like it was really really hot in Korea this year and that I didn't want to stay home, some of my swelling last a bit longer.
I went back to clinic on day 4, 6 and 7. I had de-swelling injections on day 4, and they removed the big bandage on my nose and the stitches from thread lift on day 7.

FROM DAY 7 TO DAY 14
On day 7, bandages from forehead fat grafting was removed. At the beginning, my forehead really looked weird cause it was really swollen, I didn't like the result at all and was really scared it stays that way. Swelling in this area last about 12 days, as long as the bruises from thread lift. I went back to clinic regularly to try to make it de-swelled with led masks and free skin care. Finally on day 12, I looked like a human again, and could began to see the result : I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT (through my nose was still swollen at the tips and looked like a potatoe).

FROM DAY 14 TO DAY 30
From day 10 I noticed that my lip filler made a little lump on the middle of my upper lips. I warned the clinic, who told me to massage it for 3 days, and if it didn't go, they would dissolve it with Hyaluronidase. Like it didn't go, they dissolved it on day 15. My lips went back to normal with a very natural look on it.
On this day, like I left Korea a month later and wouldn't be able to make a touch up on fat graft for at least a year, Doctor proposed me a free touch up for fat graft 1 month after the first surgery. Which I accept right away !
We scheduled the second surgery for the 16th of august.

Consultations - Before coming to Korea, View was my first choice based on previous patient’s results I’ve seen from the plastic surgery Kakao chats. I considered The Face Dental (TFD) as well, but I ended up backing out because they didn’t have the face lipo I wanted. I was going to go to a face-to-face consult with Gyalumhan, but the scheduling didn’t work out well. Overall, after my View consult, I was satisfied enough to go with them without consulting face-to-face with other clinics. I felt that I had to go to more consultations since everyone goes to at least 3, but I was lazy. There was a degree of trust I had in View, especially with the no accidents in 15 years.

I requested to see and saw Dr. Lee Dong Chan for facial contouring (FC). He recommended acculift, genioplasty, zygoma, and mandible jaw reduction. I expressed my concern on how I didn’t feel that my jaw was prominent enough to be shaved, and he agreed that I may have my desired results without jaw shaving. I also consulted about rhinoplasty, but I knew I wasn’t going to get it this trip because it would have been too strenuous for me personally. I liked how Dr. Lee Dong Chan wasn’t too pushy about the procedures. He listened intently to my concerns and even asked for my ideal pictures. After my face-to-face consultation and both the doctor and clinic’s recommendation, I felt safe enough to put my deposit. Because View is getting very busy, my surgery had to be scheduled a week after my consultation. That was fine with me because I planned enough time. If you are 80% set on View, you should highly consider placing a deposit before coming to Korea, especially during busy season.

Preparation - After I placed my deposit with View, Stacey, the consultant, thoroughly explained to me how to take care of myself after surgery (i.e. what to eat, what to avoid, what to expect after surgery, etc…). Even though I had done a lot of research about post-surgery care, I was really appreciative that Stacey had gone over it with me and even gave me a physical list of post-care instructions.

To prepare for recovery, I brought advil (ended up not using), Vitamin C, scar cream, and Bromleain. In Korea, I purchased a small bottle of Micellar water, Q tips, cotton pads, instant porridge, face mask (to cover the bottom half of my face), a hat, 2 condiment bottles (Daiso), and 1 small mason jar (Daiso). The condiment bottles were really useful, especially since you can barely open your mouth for a good 5 days. I went out A LOT 5 days after surgery, so I just put the gargle solution in a condiment bottle and carried a small mason jar so that I can spit the solution in it (Note: after FC, you have to rinse your mouth with gargle solution after about every 2 hours to prevent infection with your mouth stitches).

Day 0 (Thursday) - Before surgery, I was led up to the recovery room and placed my stuff inside. The recovery room is super nice. The best part is the bed is heated. Your body will feel super cold after general anesthesia, so having a heated bed was wonderful. I met with Dr. Lee Dong Chan and my Acculift doctor to confirm the surgeries and express my concerns. Then, due to unforeseen circumstances, I had to wait 2 extra hours before surgery. I was okay with this because I had nothing to do anyway, and I didn’t want them to rush on another patient. I took a nap while waiting.

I was super nervous, but as soon as they stuck a needle in me, I was knocked out. I woke up feeling super nauseous, and I kept dry heaving. I fasted for 24 hours with no food or water (I think they tell you to fast for about 8 hours) because I really didn’t want to vomit. I ended up not vomiting but I felt nauseous. A lot of people say that their throat felt like **** afterwards, but I felt fine. I needed to stay awake for 1 hour, but I just wanted to sleep. After about 1.5 hours, the nurse asked me to walk and grab some water. She also provided me with some pumpkin juice. I drank a tiny sip of water and tried to walk as little as possible because I knew that I would’ve thrown up if I did any more. Overall, it wasn’t too horrible. My right hand ended up super swollen from the IV, but that subdued after 3 days.

I was so thankful the night nurse was there. She would check up on me and my IV every couple of hours, and that put my mind at ease. It was nice that she spoke English so I could have expressed my concerns to her if there were any.

Day 1 (Friday) - I got discharged from the clinic. A group of consultants met me in the morning and provided me with an after-care package. They explained to me basically what Stacey had told me before, but it was nice to have a refresher. The after-care package contained a V-line band, face masks, 2 bottles of gargle solution, 2 ice packs, and pumpkin juice. Dr. Lee Dong Chan also came in to check on me before I left the recovery room.

After checking out of the recovery room, I was escorted to the pharmacy to obtain my prescription. The consultants explained to me how often to take each pill and what each of them were. I was really dizzy, so I’m really thankful that the consultants helped me go to the pharmacy. They also called a taxi for me afterwards, and helped me with my luggage. The care I received from View right after my surgery was amazing. I was really not capable to do much after surgery, and View successfully helped me to my hotel.

I arrived at my hotel at noon, and for the rest of the day, I just dozed in and out of sleep. Swelling wasn’t too bad, and I just had discomfort from the headband. I took 1 painkiller prescribed from View that night. I couldn’t even play on my phone, watch TV, or move around too much because I felt so nauseous. I drank 1 pumpkin juice.

Day 2 (Saturday)- I finally felt well enough to use my phone / laptop. I binged watched Lucifer the entire season 4 of Lucifer and didn’t go out the entire day. I drank 2 pumpkin juices. I felt hungry but felt too weak (I think I was just mentally weak lol) to walk out. Swelling and pain increased, but I didn’t take any painkillers

I was mentally unstable. I cried to my friends on why I went under the knife because I was in so much discomfort. A large part of this was because I was alone, so I felt really lonely and sad.

Day 3 (Sunday) - I walked out for 15 minutes and bought some porridge. I finished 1/5 of it. Swelling was at it’s peak and one of my eyes looked bruised (yellow bruising not purple). Other than that, I didn’t really have other bruising on my face. I did have bruising on my neck I think due to acculift.

Day 4 (Monday) - I was really excited for today because I had my V-line band taken out! The discomfort released as soon as it was taken out. I still of course felt tension in my face, but I felt sooo much more comfortable afterwards. I still had to wear the band when I slept, but that was fine.

View gave me a free hair wash (for zygoma patients) and a laser deswelling treatment. They showed me how to put back on the V-line band, and thank god they did because my dumbass would not have been able to figure that out.

I walked to View and then got dinner from some girls I met. I felt like a peasant eating this soft rice in a water-like substance while they enjoyed KBBQ

I think I lost a little bit of weight prior, but my appetite fully returned on this day. After today, I was happily eating and any weight I had lost prior returned. Oops.

Day 5 (Tuesday) - I still had a bandaid wrapped around my chin, so I wore a face mask out in public.

Today started my journey of walking a lot and touring around Korea. I started by moving from Gangnam to Myeongdong. I made 2 separate 40-minute trips because I had a ton of luggage. I then walked from my new hotel to Myeongdong (20 minutes one-way) to meet up with some girls, and then I walked from Myeongdong to my new hotel. I met up with my cousin at the new hotel, and we walked to Myeongdong again. We then walked back as well. I walked 20,000 steps (8.7 miles) that day, so my point is that clearly I was feeling well and back to normal.

Day 7 (Thursday) - 1 week after surgery! I went back to View, and they removed my zygoma stitches. It didn’t hurt at all. They also removed the wrap around my face. I looked really weird, but if someone didn’t know me, I don’t think they would have known that I was swelling. The worst part was I had a hard lump under my chin from Acculift that made it look like a huge double chin. When they removed the wrap, there was excess glue stick to my face, so it was nice the View’s skin center cleaned my face afterwards. I had a deswelling treatment on this day too.

The doctors also came in to touch my face to make sure that I was healing properly and doing okay with no pain.

Even though I was feeling well, I talked as if I had cotton balls in my mouth. I was able to open my mouth wide enough to brush my teeth and eat solid foods on this day too.

Day 8 to Day 13 - I continued to walk around Seoul a lot every day and went to tourist destinations like the palace, Han River, and animal cafes too. Each day I would feel better than the previous day. This means I would notice less swelling, I could talk more clearly, and I opened my mouth wider.

I think the best method of deswelling is walking around a lot.

Day 14 - I talked pretty normally, and noticed considerably less swelling. I met with the doctors again today, and they said I was healing normally, but I still had swelling. At this point, I looked pretty much the same as I did pre-op with minimal changes. I still had a hard bump under by chin, but it was getting smaller.

I went to the clinic and got my mouth stitches taken out. It hurt, but it only lasted 2.5 minutes. I think I can tolerate pain pretty well, so it wasn’t horrible. Then, I got my CT and X-ray scans. Dr. Lee Dong Chan reviewed them with me, and I was pleasantly surprised at the changes. My zygoma has a huge change, and I will post them below. As for my face results, I will post a follow-up when I’m at least a month post-op. Afterwards, I went up to the skin clinic, and they gave me a mini facial. They used this warm bar on my face, and it felt nice.

Please let me know if you have any questions! ^^ Again, I’ll try to post pictures at a later date when I have less swelling.

Travel Tip: Download Naver Maps and Kakao Maps before going to Korea and map out your consultation. I hated using Kakao Maps for navigating since the bus stops were in Korean and the walking part was confusing. Highly recommend Naver Maps. Make sure you save your addresses on your notes. If you plan to take a taxi, make sure you have the address written in Korean. Also, some taxi tried to rip be off at the airport by telling me the price of going somewhere before getting in so that they don’t use meter. I knew that was a rip off because Naver Maps tells you how much you should expect to pay.

Hi,I think you should bring extra shirt and comfortable clothes because after the surgery,you can only eat liquid foods,and you can’t open your mouth like normal,so you’ll have to change yoir shirt after eating.Which clinic are you going to get your facial contouring?I’m going to get that,too

I have been doing a lot of self reflection and speaking to close friends and psychologists/therapists in the past months. I have always been considered as above average (often a 7 if you believe in such rating system). Even after my research and conversations, I am still 50/50 about going under the knife and am still not sure about what I am going to do.

I will have one month off this September and was going back and forth whether I should go to SK or not.

My question is, has anyone who was considered good looking before your surgeries and come back home looking much better (or worse)? What are your view on this?

Moreover, if I am still 50/50 on my decisions, should I simply forgo my surgeries (I have yet to book the tickets/hotels)?

Because I would LOVE to explore Seoul and take some tours, but IDK how I will feel. I am prepared to bring my laptop and load it with 2 weeks worth of movies, but if I could feel good enough(and if my face doesn't look like I just got beat to crap), sightseeing in S.Korea does not sound too bad. I have always wanted to take a tour to the DMZ.

I watched some videos on YouTube,most if the people who got Zygoma,jaw reduction said that the hardest time is day 1,2 .But on day 2nd,they started walking around because it helps de swelling alot.I think after day 4,5 you can go around,take some city tour or just go shopping.It’s good for you if you walk alot after the surgery

They quoted me 2 mil won for corner lip lift,and 300,000 won for lower lip filler.I’m going to Seoul on the end of September,but I also want to get Face contouring,so I might need to ask them is it possible to get lip surgery after Face contouring

I am also flirting with the thought of getting lip surgery and philtrum reduction and have heard quite positive reviews about Golden View and DC Zien. The problem with DC Zien is that I cant seem to find their website or any information about them online, can someone help out with that?

Also, has anyone done lip surgery and if so, where and how was your experience with it? For the philtrum reduction, does anyone know if it's possible to get it done without having to lift or enlarge the upper lip? I already have quite thick lips and a V-shape, however I want to accentuate the lip line with the "bow tip"

It's been a long road and I'll show progress pics as I heal in the coming months. So far, I'm super thrilled with my results and thankful to everyone I've come across here on PF and the KakaoTalk chats (Mar/April 2019, PS 2019 Eyes & Nose).

Background: Aside from my wisdom teeth extraction at 20, I had never undergone any surgery. I wanted to be extremely meticulous in my research and find the right surgeon. Knowledge gives me comfort so I read countless reviews and medical journal articles specifically about Asian rhinoplasty and implants. I've had a complex about my ‘koala’ nose since I was a child and would always squish the tip to make it into my desired shape. I put off plastic surgery for a while because I wanted 1. to save money for it and 2. to wait for my facial features to grow in. As for eyes, I luckily have natural double eyelids (thanks, Mom & Dad) but one is more pronounced than the other. Symmetry was my goal.

Procedures: Rhinoplasty (nose elongation, hump removal, nostril correction for uneven nostrils, lateral osteotomy) and double eyelid surgery

Research: I initially sought out plastic surgeons in NY and LA on RealSelf. I wasn't too impressed with the results on Asian clients and felt they were too conservative for the rather exorbitant cost. Memes aside, Seoul seemed like a much more accessible alternative plus Korea was on the travel bucket list (and I even did a little side trip to Japan!). I booked my trip to Korea in January for April 2nd and decided that 4 months was adequate to research and consult online with clinics. It became something of a pastime for me to the point where my friends would say "Ugh, G's looking at noses again".

Clinics: In total, I consulted about 23 clinic and had a large spreadsheet going. The larger clinics (Banobagi, Grand, BK and ID) were all big contenders early on given their reviews and exposure on shows like Let Me In. However, after digging a little deeper on forums, I decided to go with smaller clinics. Clunky response times from some of the other clinics turned me off, along with blacklists, subpar results and the list gradually became smaller.

The day I landed, I ended up meeting with View, Faceline and UVOM. Wannabe was also a contender but I had a scheduling conflict. The day I landed, I ended up meeting with View, Faceline and UVOM f2f. View was at the top of my list to the point where I almost put a deposit down until I saw them f2f. They charged an exorbitant amount (2x more than the online consultation) and I felt super rushed. I felt like most of these large clinics had factory vibes and would push unwanted procedures on me (ex. midface augmentation for my 'protruding mouth').

Why UVOM: UVOM didn't come on my radar until about a week before I left on my trip and I'm glad it did. A few of their patients had great results and posted them on KKT chats. The results looked amazing but not fake and I liked how they had more Korean patients than foreigners. UVOM is meticulously detailed, both in their online consults and in person. The f2f consultation was lengthy (2 hours) but I felt like this was necessary. The nerd in me loved hearing about what would be done to the point where it felt like an anatomy lesson. Eunice and Choi (the consultant and English translator) were really warm and detailed in their answers to my questions (ex. silicone vs goretex). I also liked how even though I don't speak Korean, Eunice would look me in the eye when explaining vs looking at Choi all the time which would've made me feel like a subject. Then I met with the doctors. Dr Kang demonstrated different creases and I eventually picked a tapered one (the parallel option would've looked too Caucasian). I asked him about epi and he said my inner corners were too open and it wouldn't look natural on me. For rhino, Dr Lee pointed out things that other surgeons missed (ex. deviated septum, uneven nostrils). He also had a good bedside manner and was realistic about what he could do with my short nose and thin skin. He would make the angle between my lips and the tip of my nose within the 90-105 degree range since it was much more obtuse. I chose UVOM ultimately because I liked their aesthetic, attention to detail, Dr Lee and that they didn’t pressure me to have unnecessary surgeries. I've read countless times that I should go with a clinic that I vibed well with f2f and UVOM was that clinic. My surgery was scheduled for the next day after I paid my deposit.

Materials/Methods: PCL and septal cartilage for tip, ePTFE for bridge. I went with non-incisional double eyelid surgery since I wanted minimal scarring.

Right after the consultation, I had dinner with a group of girls who I affectionately dubbed the 'Plastic Fantastics' from a KKT chat. We were all set to have surgery within the next 2 days and discussed what led us to this point. After dinner, we stopped by a grocery store to grab food for the next few days, which I definitely recommend because the swelling and anesthesia are no joke.

Surgery: After fasting for 6+ hours, I went to UVOM in the morning. There were a few patients there and I filled out more paperwork. They did a CT scan and showed the deviated septum and how one side was a bit larger than the other. I met with Drs Lee and Kang one last time to go over the surgery and any last minute concerns. There was a bit of a delay to the start of my surgery so I waited in the recovery room in a heated bed until the surgeons were ready.

I put on the gown and took a few more last looks at le nose. Choi remarked on how calm I was before the surgery. Mental fortitude is key! I didn’t get nervous until the nurse arranged the scalpel and other tools on the surgical tray. I thought, “Oh. Those are going inside me.” Choi could sense my nervousness and explained what the nurse was doing. I took a few deep breaths before the anesthesia sunk in. I had a psychedelic dream about going through tunnels and felt some light tugging towards the end but no pain. Dr Lee said he was finished and I groggily woke up. Choi and one of the nurses helped me get to the recovery room. I had a painful sore throat from the anesthesia and Choi gave me some water while I drifted in and out of sleep. By that time, it was almost 11pm at night and Choi stayed with me (so thankful). I threw up bile in the bathroom from the anesthesia which was super unpleasant. Choi gave me the meds and was nice enough to get me a taxi and translated my hotel address to the driver. That night, I slept upright and didn’t get the best quality of sleep.

Day 1 Post Op: I felt super groggy and the painful sore throat was still there. The nose packing and drip pad meant I would be a mouth breather for the next few days. Excellent. I ate some breakfast downstairs and put on my disguise for the next few days: a baseball cap and black dust mask (my sister said I looked like a Ninja Turtle villain). I went back to UVOM for my deswelling treatment (light therapy) and a check up with Dr Lee. He said the surgery was very long (about 6 hours) and I bled a lot, probably due to my thin skin. He changed my dressings and I finally saw a glimpse of my new nose!

Despite all the swelling, my nose looked super snatched! The hump was gone and I finally had a tip! There was an incision on my columella covered by bandages.

On Days 2, 5 and 11, I went back for deswelling treatments and check ups. On Day 2, the awful nose packing was taken out. It was the strangest feeling ever, like wet boogers getting taken out. The nurse was a bit rough but super efficient. On Day 2 I started taking After Plus +, a combo of bromelain vitamins, arnica cream and ampoules for deswelling and it was worth every penny!

On Day 5, the cast finally came off and the stitches on my columella were removed. It felt a bit weird and the area was a bit dry. The stitches were covered by a bandage so it was difficult to apply the ointment there. The result was quite natural on the frontal view but my nose looked so great from the side (no more Koala nose)! Dr Lee did a great job with the nasal base added a good amount of height. I selfied the crap out of my nose on the bus ride to lunch. My eyes had also swelled down considerably and I loved how even they looked. I used Kristen Kreuk as my inspiration and love the interpretation.

Dr Lee was at a conference so my next appt wasn’t until Day 11 post op, when the stitches inside my nose were removed. I was given a plush toy to hold on to while the remaining stitches were removed. It was a bit dry but the nurse was able to pull them out. After, Dr Lee came by and looked at how it was healing. The scar on my columella was barely visible and the bruises were virtually gone. I thanked him for doing such a great job on my nose and for creating such a harmonious balance in my features.

Initially, I was nervous about doing plastic surgery abroad but my experience at UVOM really put me at ease. Dr Lee is an artist and sculpted a beautiful nose out of the short blunt one I had. The improved crease made my eyes look larger and somehow lifted my eyelashes on my left eye (the one with a smaller crease). UVOM may not give you packs of pumpkin juice or wash your hair on their salon floor, but they deliver beautiful results and have a minute attention to detail. I would definitely recommend UVOM for these procedures and look forward to the continuous deswelling of my nose.
