  1. I have friends who went to banobagi actually but I didn't consider it because it's too commercial. I prefer locally known clinics or clinics that don't affiliate with agents (docfinder, seoulguide medical.. etc). I wrote a post on clinics I considered and how I made my decision. You can check that here: https://beautyhacker.com/forums/topic/1020588-in-korea-right-now-for-3-type-fc/#post-33459666

  2. Why you didn't get any aftercare? They didn't offer ? That's so strange. I got 3 deswelling treatment so far. I'm on my 9th day post-op. My zygoma stitches came off on the 7th day but my oral stitches will be removed in another week. Everytime I get scheduled for checkup I get offered deswell treatments and my swelling is pretty average. I guess they aren't that consistent? Or you stayed too short... Really sucks to hear! Good luck with your further procedures~

  3. I'm not taking it personally if anything I wasnt being mean at all until she reminded of that opinion lady. sorry but I just meant to make a light joke.
My point is there's no reason going around telling people what they shouldn't do when it's an insecurity. JiaYuXOX asked about the success or failures of the surgeries she is interested in, but iiibbystar only states her experience which she considers to be a failure. Because from all the research I've done on this procedure, for every negative review there are ten positive ones. I just feel like instead of commenting negatively on all these posts questioning zygoma reduction, she could just state her OWN experience and not generalize the surgery commenting "it causes premature aging/sagging and hardly any difference for it to be worth it". The term "worth it" in itself is already subjective to each and every person, what you decide isn't worth it might not be the same case for someone else (just like what you think is expensive might be cheap for someone else). I think it's good to share personal experiences and information but you shouldn't tell someone to do this or that because that is up to that person to decide.
Try "from my experience, I got sagging from this. If you do decide to do it, please research more about different techniques surgeons use or follow-up surgeries you can do after. Research about your skin type and different procedures out there that will help prevent sagging."

What she said isn't wrong but the way she comment it on every post is an opinion/advice out of her own emotion and distress. Just because she got bad experience doesn't mean everyone else will. These contour surgeries are one of the highest performed procedure in Korea and many people come for it for a reason; success rate and the result. You don't see bunch of people walking around in korea with sagging faces, if anything you see more botched nose. What she is telling people not to do doesn't solve anything. If she is telling her not to do this surgery then the problem remains. Nothing gets solved. This is a plastic surgery forum, telling people not to do plastic surgery because of a very well known side-effect is just ill-advice. Most people who research about zygoma reduction knows that sagging is one of the side effects that COULD happen but there are different techniques to prevent that from happening, and even in the case that it does happen, there are solutions to fix it.

    lol ok hahaha

  5. Opinion is a view or belief someone holds in a situation. Advice is a providing guidance or recommendation. They are similar but not exactly the same lol.
Perhaps youre just one of the many unfortunate people who got the sagging side effects... Very sorry to hear.
I know many friends who don't have sagging after zygoma, vline and genio. I'm still recovering from mine so I can't personally have my input right now however my surgeon did explain to me how sagging works and how there are procedure techniques to prevent it. He also commented on how skin elasticity plays a big role. Lucky for me, I have great skin elatisticy that's why he recommended to do just a little bit of zygoma to smoothen out my faceline. He said I will not have sagging with his technique of not shaving off but pushing in and rotating the bone to a certain degree which will give support and not remove it. Everyone have different faces and surgeons have different techniques so your warning is not necessary. People do plastic surgery because of insecurities. It's not easy to live being insecure and I'm sure you know that because you already did something to fix it and now even more insecure cause it didn't turn out the way you wanted to. People who are interested in doing zygoma reduction procedure can easily find side effects of it and decide themselves. There's really no reason wasting your time commenting on every post telling people what they should/shouldn't do from your bad experience
It's like telling someone not to have kids cause your kid turned out a druggie, child molester and in jail lol.

you should guide them to how to look for a better doctor than you did instead. How about that? Something useful.

  6. Hello, I notice you comment on every single persons thread on getting zygoma reduction and telling them not to get it because of sagging and premature aging but that's not completely true. There are different ways zygoma reduction is performed. Zygoma actually make one look older and masculine if anything. Sagging has a lot to do with skin elasticity too. It really depends on the individual so stop going around telling people what they should or shouldn't do lol. Youre not a board certified plastic surgeon are you ?
Every surgeon have their own way but again there's always a risk in plastic surgery. Therefore research and choose an honest surgeon whos not a "yes-man".
People on here are looking for advice not opinion.

1 week post op. Just got my stitches on my hairline and alars off. I'm still very bruised and swollen but my faceline is definitely showing now! I asked for a natural jawline~
(The bruise is yellow bruise... It only appeared yellow and was never purple or blue which was facinating cause yellow bruising only happens when bruises are almost healed).
Stitches in mouth will be taken off in a week.
Will take more pictures when I clean myself up lol.

    Before-
Can definitely see my cheeks and jaw is quite wide. My nose has always been pretty imo but the alars is wider than I want. My chin is a little too straight. My face gives me a lot more weight than I am.

  8. Ooh that's unfortunate your friend didn't get the care she deserve.
My aftercare was very good and I'm a foreigner too. My consultant replies very instantly if I have any questions or needed anything. She came bright and early morning few hours before I get my tubes out (I was there for FC). She always checked up and even kept in contact with my friend who was there with me to come early to see me after surgery and before release from over night stay. She even helped me blow dry and comb my hair after the complimentary hair wash ~ she let me know if she wasn't able to come and told me her colleague will fill for her so I wouldn't worry. I'm seeing her tomorrow to get my stitches out ~

Price wise... It is common sense that foreigners will not have same price as local. It is not possible even if clinic is known to give everyone same price~ Koreans will always have cheaper price in every situation. My consultant was honest with me about it too. She said it is really not possible but she did help me reach a very agreeable price. (And no I am not sponsored. This is my honest experience. I'm still doing treatment there and will go get my stitches out tmr)

  9. They are famous for facial contouring. Also famous because previously a famous doctor from another clinic transfered over named dr. Lee dong chan. He was famous for his rhinoplasty however he is only doing facial contouring now in this clinic. I guess on special cases like mine where he's able to do both nose and fc, he doesn't have a problem performing both.
They have been on beauty transformation shows I believe. Dr. Lee sang woo is also a reputable fc doctor but i haven't met him. I just heard a lot about him and I'm assuming he's the main surgeon(?) I saw a lot of his awards in the consulting room

They are quite big in Korea but idk internationally since they don't have agent affiliate like docfinderkorea or Seoul Guide Medical. I think one main thing that turn foreigners away is their prices. It's quite high but it is definitely negotiable face to face.

  10. Ah, no dairy? Oo my clinic didn't tell me that. Instead they suggested ice cream haha. I wonder why no dairy? I'm kinda worried now I'm 4th day Post op for FC.
I had milk and yogurt for breakfast with soft cake or soft bread that can melt in mouth. Most of the time I have instant congee and I am already dying. I want to heal already lol. I've been looking online for food suggestions and some said egg salad. Anyways good luck with your recovery ! I think iv reached my peak swelling and starting to deswell now.

  11. Hello ; I'm already in my 3rd day Post op~ I posted my review here. https://beautyhacker.com/forums/topic/1020813-facial-contour-at-da-review-with-progress-pics/
Feel free to check it out  I'm very much swollen today!!

  12. Hello, due to my research, I found that banobagi is way too heavily marketed and overpriced. It's kind of like a factory. Opera price is great indeed but the results shown on local apps is very mediocre..
One place I saw that did a really good job for Caucasian plasty is Answer. I believe they are just in the same building as Mina if I'm not wrong. I forgot lol. But here's a YouTube review of someone who has a great result from answer.

  13. Hello forumers
I just got my 3 type facial contour (vline, zygoma, genioplasty) and alar base reduction at DARPS. My doctor was Dr Lee Dong Chan.
My surgery was booked in the afternoon so I got quite hungry because I fasted earlier than needed. Remember to fast 8 hours before surgery~
On the day of surgery, I messaged my English translator, she's a very kind and sweet girl btw, that if it was okay if I head in 30 min early to talk to the doctor more about my concern and exactly what I wanted because first time round I wasn't as prepared. I wrote down a few questions, finalized the pictures I wanted to show him for reference and most importantly just want his honesty about what's possible and what not. Since I was already agreeing to do the surgery here, I really want to make sure Dr Lee dong chan was on the same page as me. I didn't want to hear that it was possible but results did not comply so he assured me what was the best, what he can do and what technique he will be using. I felt much calmer after chatting with him. I was then lead to my resting room to wait for my surgery. It didn't take long, and little did I know, I was headed to the surgery room. It felt like a hardcore dentistry lol. They had my reference pictures printed out big and hung on the wall so the doctor can see and use as reference. IV was put in my arm, I met my anesthesiologist and was knocked out in matter of seconds.
I was woken up by nurses in my recovering room and all I could feel was sleepiness. I just wanted to sleep. The nurses let me sleep in the heated bed which feel nice and warm. I wasnt allow water for 2 hours. My throat felt ok at first but started to feel dry 1.5hr in. I slept a little more and was woken up with water coming my way. I drank from a cup with no problem. I was so thirsty from fasting and surgery and all that. My throat felt burning a little but it was bearable. After a few hours it the burning was gone and I feel normal again... Just had to keep drinking water. I looked in the phone camera at my reflection and I was so satisfied with my result even though I was swollen. Dr. Lee dong chan did such an amazing job and listened to exactly what I mentioned. I was so so so happy and I can't wait for final result!
I spent the night in the clinic. The nurse was very sweet, she would replace my ice pack every 4 hours, refill my water when it's half empty and took me to the washroom when I wanted to. She came in to check often and also fixed the temperate of my room. The IV lady would come in to give me more antibiotics and painkiller at certain times and I was in no pain at all. Maybe just a little sore ? Not pain.
There was no blood dripping out, I didn't feel too swollen to my surprise and no bruising as well. Really really happy~ though it is just the first day of post op so the next few days I should be expecting more swelling.
In the morning, my English translator came and greeted me. She asked how my night was and informed me that I will be taking my tube out soon and meet the doctor for follow up. I was taken to surgery room to remove my tube, it didn't hurt but I think they stitched me up or something which stung. I couldn't see anything since they covered my eyes lol. Process was really quick and ended in less than 5 minutes. I was then guided back to my resting room and then Dr. Lee dong chan showed up and asked about my well being. He explained again what he did and I told him I was happy about my result and gave have him a finger heart which made everyone laugh lol. He said I'm swollen so don't worry. He said he took around 5mm from my alar which I was happy to hear haha. I was kind of afraid he took too less since I wanted a natural result and it's swollen so I couldn't tell. My translator took me down to purchase medicine and I headed back to my home. I forgot my ice pack  so I'll be going back to get it soon.

  14. My consultation Experience in DA
DA is located in a walkable distance from exit 12 from Gangnam station. It's hard to miss since it's a big building with their name on it. Seems like they own the whole building lol, so it's not a small clinic. My first impression wasn't so good since there was some confusion with my name so make sure you book with your legal name from passport. The Korean lady at the counter insisted that I needed a translator even though I brought my Korean friend to translate for me. She asked if I needed an English or Chinese and I said English however minutes later, a Chinese translator showed up ??? At this point I was already having a wtf moment. My Korean friend also was like wtf. (My ethnicity is Chinese but primary language is English). We both know how clinics are when a Chinese show up lol. Prices are higher, they try to upsale, you know the drill. But yea, my English is honestly better than my Chinese. we asked the Chinese translator for an English one instead and waited. While waiting for our English translator, the Korean lady came back and asked if I had a desired surgeon in mind for my procedure. I knew I wanted Dr. Lee but I didn't know which one because like I said, there was 4 LOL. I said no and she replied oh okay, just so you know prices differ from surgeons. She then told me that I will be needing a CT scan which cost 100 dollars. My friend and I were strongly against it because she said that's some bs that's way too much for a CT scan. I had my eyes rolling at this point cause everything was either about money or assuming I'm Chinese for money haha.

Eventually our English translator came and everything went uphill from there. I will refer my E-translator as Sarah. I don't know if I should reveal her name here. It was true we needed to pay for my CT for FC consultation because Dr need to see how much he can cut etc. Sarah gave us a more reasonable price so we agreed. Sarah was very nice, she explained everything to us slowly and was very patient. I had my CT then went ahead to meet Dr. Lee dong chan. When Sarah revealed who will be my surgeon, I was kind of excited because I've heard wonderful things about him. (Sarah said nothing about prices for surgeon which I was still thinking about in the back of my head).
Dr. Lee dong chan pointed out the asymmetry of my face which was my concern. He asked me what was my desired face shape or if I have any picture and I showed him a few I collected. I told him I don't want a point chin and overly cut jaw. He agreed because he likes natural results too. He said my case was very very good for FC and it will smoothen and balance my face. He said that I will be able to achieve the result that I showed him. He also mentioned because of my cheek and jaw, it give me a chubby face which was true. My face make me look like I'm 58kg in a 48kg body. He then explained about sagging and said my skin elasticity was very good as well and will experience little to no sagging. He said many people experience sagging but skin type plays a huge role in it. Then for my alar, he said he will cut the inside so there will be no visible scar at all. I told him I don't want it too pinched and he agreed that I only need a tiny bit. I emphasize that I don't want snake nostrils lol. I wanted my natural shape or a roundish shape one. He said ofcourse haha and laughed. He's very friendly and listen to my concern. He didn't suggest anything more or less than what I wanted which was good and bad cause I kind of wanted to hear his opinion but I have a very realistic ideal result so I understand if he agree completely. He sounded very professional. After I finish asking questions, Sarah quoted us prices after we mention our budget. She tried her best and did what she can to give us the best price. My friend and I had a lot to consider since I booked consultation else where but after long talk and decision we decided to go with DA for the reasons I mentioned previously in the comment above.
I got my blood test, signed a few forms and booked my surgery day. I liked how she checked Dr. Lee dong Chan's schedule before throwing time and date at us. Made me feel safer( if you know ,you know why). Sarah explained to me what was included in my aftercare which was nice and yea~ my surgery is in 6 hours. I can't sleep while in typing this lol. Will update more post op

  15. Hello, after consulting at DA, I made a hard decision to deposit my money there because...
    1) they gave me a reputable surgeon, Dr Lee dong chan.
    2) since he's good at fc AND noses, I mentioned it would be a bonus for me if the clinic could do 2 things at once so I don't have to move around and go under anesthesia twice in the span of a 2 days.
    3) they offered me a very reasonable price within my budget
    4) since madeyoung consultation was 1 week after I arrive, that means I have to sacrifice the 1 time price deal DA offer, sacrifice time just to have a rushed choice with madeyoung. (Pretty much means if I don't take my chances here with a high rep doc, I'll have to risk not doing fc this trip at all if madeyoung can't meet my budget and opt to my chosen clinic for alar only).
    5) even if madeyoung quotes me a price within my budget, im afraid they might schedule my surgery late, which won't give me enough time to heal and rest.
Hope this makes sense. I don't really have time to sit around and waste 6 days for a consultation. I would suggest to book a consultation with them first before booking your flight~

  16. Hello I haven't had my consultation yet for madeyoung so they haven't quote me any price yet. They said when I do in person consultation, the prices will be more accurate because the doctor will have a better idea of what's needed. My friend is Korean so she helped me with communication and will be there for me for translation. I will let you know when I do in person consultation with them

  17. Hello, I didn't choose to consult with them and I wrote why they were crossed off my list. I've heard people get quoted 9-12k there~

  18. Hi all,
I've been a long time lurker in Purseforum. I do a lot of my research here to pick out the clinics i am interested in. I thought it would be helpful if i share my thoughts and experience with you guys.
I am in korea for FC (vline, genio, zygoma) also alar base reduction. I'm staying here for a little over 2 weeks. Other than purseforum, I use 3 different korean surgery apps and 2 other chinese surgery apps to decide which clinics I would like to check out.
Here's the list of clinics I am interested in:
    Gyalumhan (FC)
    Seoul Queen (Alar Base Reduction)
    Madeyoung (FC)
    Pladen (FC)
    DARPS (FC)

As you can see, FC is my biggest concern during this trip. I picked one specific clinic out for my Alar base reduction because I really love their result and they seem to specialize in that from all the reviews I read about them. It would be a HUGE bonus for me if there was a clinic I can do both FC and Alar at once but I'm very picky about alar reduction since I saw so many disastrous nostrils so I picked out a specialized clinic for it lol. My plan was to do Alar at Seoul Queen first and then go do FC the next day.... ANYWAYS!
From that list, I narrowed down to 2 main FC clinics I wanted to consult at and ones that are crossed off my list. I'll tell you my reasons.

    1. Gyalumhan - Eliminated
    Pro-
Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against this clinic at all. This clinic was one of my first ever options since a lot of local koreans vlogged their FC journey with them. I also recently read on here from a patient that went there with a super positive experience. They are known to give extraordinary aftercare. Another reason why I had this on my list was because they don't use tubes to drain the blood after surgery and has an accident free record. Their results are very natural too.
Why I crossed it out- I decided to not choose to consult with them because gut feeling. I'm a person that make my decision partially on gut feelings lol. I know it's weird but if you ever do have any feeling like that, listen to it. A youtuber I saw that vlogged their experience there had a positive experience but I don't know why her result make her face still look big. Not that much diff from before surgery (other than being tiny bit smoother). You may think that's maybe what she asked for right? but later on she made other vlogs going to non surgical treatments for smaller face and stuff. She had excessive swelling that took longer than normal people to subside. At first i thought it wasn't much of a huge problem but I came across someone else that also had a positive experience with the same problem: swelling a lot more than normal people. Honestly, I don't know if this differs from patient to patient but that worries me. I'm not korean and I don't have that much time in korea for deswelling treatments like they have.

    2. MadeYoung - Chosen
    Pro-
I came across this clinic through the app Gangnam Unni and Babitalk. The results are sooo beautiful, natural and positive. They are local and don't mass market towards foreigners. They specialize in FC. I tried to look for as much reviews as possible with them but there weren't a lot on here. Prolly just one and their experience was also very positive. Even with just 2 different sources with positive review, I still wasn't 100% sure until I read on chinese surgery review app about them and all of it said Madeyoung was amazing. They loved it. I trust chinese reviews because 1) plastic surgery in korea is heavily marketed to chinese people and A LOT of them come here for it. 2) Chinese people are pretty straight up lol. If they have the fortune to pay for surgery in Korea (clinics bump up the prices for chinese people) then they aren't afraid to call them out if problem occurs... which I have seen many did for diff clinics with positive reviews everywhere else haha.
Cons- Booking a consultation with them is quite difficult since they are busy. My consultation was booked on the 6th day of arriving to korea. That's pretty late for me because I would have only a little over a week to heal. My idea was to do my consultation as soon as possible, decide and proceed the surgery so i can have a long time to deswell and rest. They said they are fully booked anytime before the consultation day. A busy clinic that doesn't need to market themselves are a good sign but not for a visitor with scarce time.
I booked a consultation with them anyways because they have outstanding review and results.

    3. Pladen - Eliminated
    Pro-
Pladen was a clinic that I was settled upon before booking my trip to Korea. Their FC results are very very good compared to Opera and Banobagi. They are quite local as well and on naver, many people said this clinic is good from word of mouth. Word of mouth is one of the most influenced marketing strategy. I didn't do any more research on it because....!!!
Con- Other than specializing in FC, it seems like they are MORE focused on lipo. A lot of their reviews shifted towards lipo and a lot of people go there for that as well. I prefer a clinic that is specialized in 1 thing that i'm most concern about...

    4. DAPRS- Chosen
    Pro-
They have a lot of positive reviews for FC and a lot of mixed reviews for rhinoplasty as I have read but rhinoplasty was not what I'm there for so that's not my concern. They replied really quickly and had my consultation booked the day after I arrived in Korea which was exactly what I wanted. Their FC results were really beautiful on the reviews. Not too dramatic, a perfect balance of a good change. "Dr. LEE"... this name is everywhere if you mention DAPRS on here lol. When i first researched about the clinic, I was so confused on who exactly Dr. Lee was since there were a few Dr. Lee in the clinic alone. If I'm not wrong, there's 2 that specialize in FC.... -_- You guys stop keep using "Dr.LEE". PLEASE USE THEIR FULL NAME CAUSE THERE'S SO MANY DR LEE AT DRPS. It got to the point that I thought it was some marketing tactic hahaha. You go in there asking for Dr. Lee and you aren't getting the one that you think you wanted because there's like 4 Dr. Lee (2 specialize in FC - LeeDong Chan and Lee Sangwoo! and the other two I'm not sure what he does).
Cons- Since the reviews were really mixed, however good for FC only, I really wanted to dig into more of what people were saying so of course, Chinese app to the rescue lol. And guess what? reviews were mixed there too. The comments said their facial contour was pretty good but service was bad. Other comments only said "trash" but didn't state why. I only look for reviews that were useful information not 1 word description with no reason. Ah, another reason why it was kinda... meh was because they were having an event and I actually decided to come for the event. When I messaged them about it, they said I was able to have it UNTIL i told them I was foreigner... Event was for Koreans only of course haha. It's known that foreigners aren't allow to have event prices lol. (I knew but I wanted to try anyways)
I booked consultation here anyways because their results are good, alar reduction seems natural (Bonus), they were having an event (of course doesn't effect me but i'll tell you why this is important later).

So that's a very lengthy explanation about my decisions and I'll update on my consultation experience later ^_^
