If you don't mind commuting for 20-30 mins, I've found great hotel options in Insadong area with reasonable prices (50-55 USD per night). I personally prefer hotels for a long stay because of the daily cleaning. I think I'll need it. It's the same subway line (line 3 - orange) so it's a straight way to my clinic, no subway or station change which is nice. Consider TOP hotel, Kuretakeso, Ibis,... They all looks great with a way better price compared to in Gangnam area. I stayed in Gangnam area during my time for consultation. It was quite pricey for a hotel of the same quality.

Edit: Line 3 is for Apgujeong / Sinsa area. The total for my stay was less than USD 600 for 12 nights. Similar private property on Airbnb after fees and taxes are either same or higher. I did not look into hostel so the price point is for hotels/private room or Entire place on Airbnb.

    Hi gmcnm,

I'm interested with the hotel you mentioned. What's the name of hotel? How did you book it? Thanks

Hi in2eeyor, I’m most likely going to Namu but will also get consultations from other clinics while I’m there! Any clinics that you have shortlisted? All the best for your surgery I hope it turns out great!:)

You as well. Are you also going for DES? These are clinics:

    Marble PS,

Answer PS (I heard he's good, only do 2 patients in 1 day but expensive)

    Mina PS

    JK

Recently, I heard about Mate PS (only find website in Korean, can't find website in english version)

Which doctor in Namu PS? Why did you choose this instead of others?

Hi Ainokiseki, I did co2 fraxel laser at Pitangui for 200,000krw. Helps with my acne scars and open pores however my scars aren't bad, small ones, not deep or dented. One session is good enough for me. You will be red the next day and peeling off dead skin for about a week. I did it with other surgeries so I was already bruising and swelling, can't say how it'll affect if only doing fraxel. Remember to stay out of the sun and always use sunblock when you need to be out. I did mine in Feb, when I enquired about fraxel for my hubby in July, I was told doctor doesn't do fraxel during the summer.

Hi Joyce, I'm also interested laser treatment with my acne scars & open pores. Did fraxel help yours acne scars & open treament? Will you recommend Pitangui?  Thanks

Usually the ones ran by Koreans are shady, but there are some agencies ran by westerners and even ex foreign patients who are more honest and can make your trip easier.

Some people have recommended My Seoul Secret. They have a support plan for $99 (no commission) where they can provide virtual assistance or they can research and pick clinics for you that has a commission built into the price. You can use them to book interpreters from the government too. I just message them on Kakao with random questions and they usually help answer a lot of basic stuff for free too.

This was also a good post on they wrote on agencies as well:

How was your experience with myseoulsecret.com. Was it worth it to use medical toursim? I have heard about Seoul Guide Medical., not sure if they are good

Thank you so much for the response. I decided I will continue to contact clinics I am interested in directly and avoid medical tourism agencies altogether.

Also thank you for the app suggestion! I am going to download that and try it when I am in Korea.

Initially, my friend offered for me to stay with her in Seoul, but she is quite far from Gangnam, and I also feel bad taking up space in her place for an entire month, so I made accommodations in Gangnam. You're probably so right that it is a good idea to stay near the clinics so I am glad I can do that.

I haven't been able to join the kakaotalk groupchat yet but hopefully I can be approved before I fly to Korea!

    Have an amazing day.

Hi, I'm planning to go to Korea in February 2020. I was gonna use Seoul Guide Medical tourism but now skeptical. How was your experience going on your own? Any recommendations which clinic for eye surgery? Thanks

Yeah I agree with the posts above. I’m also from Australia but my parents are from Korea. My mum would never let me get plastic surgery here but she is open to me going to Korea. Korea seems to be be leagues ahead in terms of medical technology and technique for Asian plastic surgery. Also, the doctors here wouldn’t have as much experience dealing with Asian facial structure.
I personally had my DES at Wonjin in Seoul.

Hi, May I ask you how was your DES at Wonjin? Are you happy with the result?
