Tinatina - yeah, I really want to do it asap. It's almost like it took me 2 years to decide whether I want to do it or not, and once my mind is made up I can't wait to do it straight away!
But alas $$$ is a factor and I need to be patient until I have enough to do the deed.
Easter 2008 sounds like a good time for me, I'll have some time off due to the Easter holidays and plus I'm hoping to take 2 weeks off. If I take one week off before the Easter holidays start and come back one week after the Easter holidays then hopefully we miss out on peak time air travel prices??
As for Dr. Chuang vs. Dr.Jung, I'm still deciding that...don't rule out Dr.Jung too early though cause if the Q is long that probably indicates he is really good. Plus, since we are not going for a while yet, I'm sure we'll be able to book a spot no probs. I think maskd said that Korea is only $1000 more expensive than Taiwan (because accommodation in Taiwan is really expensive) and therefore, if Dr. Jung is more skilled than Dr. Chuang we should still consider him...
Also, u gotta be extra careful cause this is a revision and these are more tricky than primary.
tinatina - your nose doesn't actually look that bad but it might look rounder from the front view. You actually think the same way as me: if I go to Taiwan I will probably choose Dr. Cheung, and if I go to Korea, either Dr.Jung, Dr Park (Dream clinic) or Dr Yang from Jelim.
My feeling is still Dr.Jung though. However, I recently got a reply from the Korean plastic surgery association and they say that Dr.Jung is not a member of that association.
I am still waiting to hear from the other associations.
When are you thinking of going? I remember you mentioned 2008? That's the time I wanna go, but I probably won't have enough $$ until at least April 2008 (for Korea).
tinatina - which Dr.Park is this - is this the one from oz or dream clinic?
I also like the sound of Dr.Cheung, his answers are more detailed than some of the korean doctors. Did he agree with you that you just need to change the tip, or did he suggest you change the bridge as well? Also, do u mind telling me what you want to do to the tip? Lengthen, shorten or just make it less round?
I'm still waiting for Dr.Jung as well, please let me know when you hear something...
I'm thinking maybe we can decided on a country and a couple of doctors we like, then we can fly over there and go for consultations before making a final decision? I dun know how wise it is to get fixed on one certain doctor before actually seeing him. Afterall, he might be good in email but crap/impatient when we actually try to communicate with him face-to-face.
Keep me updated on your replies - trying to get responses from these ps is like squeezing blood from a stone sometimes!
Keenose - there's around 12 pages on that cinderella website, there's lots of males but also a couple of females. I dun really like their noses - the bridges look too high and hard for my personal taste. It doesn't look 'soft' enough to be natural. The tips appear okay though...
Keenose - I have no qualms about u doing the eye and nose surgery, but the bone shaving does leave me feeling a bit cold.
It's so drastic, non-reversible, and I read somewhere that you run a risk of partial facial paralysis. I can't remember where that article is now, but do a search on the internet - it's one of the north american medical journals. I also think it's a bit of a time-bomb - you just don't know enough about the long-term consequences of weakening your facial structure like that.
maybe you could use botox instead? It really is a drastic step so please be careful lo...
It's for Cinderella clinic in Seoul and I think those photos are of the ps with korean stars? don't know if they are stars or former customers or both - it's all in Korean unfortunately...
I personally think the females' noses are too fake looking, but what do u guys think?
True. No implant is ideal. Even 100% rib cartilege runs a 3-5% chance of reabsorpion and deformity. There is one pic on Dr. Jung's website showing a guy whose rib cartilege has migrated to his forehead and he looks like an alien!! scary...
there's also reports on the Singapore forum saying a girl who used rib cartilege to build up her bridge and refine her tip ended up with the bridge getting reabsorbed after one year but the tip has remained high, giving her a 'piggish' nose.
At the moment, I personally think that silicone is probably better because it can be removed easily if the s9it hits the fan so to speak. However, if you plan on getting your tip done, then it can't be "reverted" back to normal so easily and you could end up looking wierd cause you've taken out the bridge but the tip remains high.
Hmmm...Japanese surgeons eh? I don't know much about them either...but I think Korea is still considered the prime PS centre...
have you looked at Jelim? They are supposed to be good but their English website is so crap!
You are quite right - when it comes to our one and only face, the one we have to live with every second of the day for the rest of our lives - cost should not be a factor. If I can't afford it right now, then it's better to wait and save up and do it when I can afford it...
and considering that people spend a fortune on a new car etc. a new nose is wayyy more important!
Hmmm...what you say about the asymmetrical thing does bother me a bit too...but maybe it's because the patient's nose was asymetrical to start off with already?
dr. T is supposed to be a very good surgeon but he only uses ribs and that's a much bigger operation than just using humble implant or ear/septical cartilege. Also, if you cut out your rib, it will leave a scar. Dr.T says it's only a small scar and can be hidden under some strategically placed clothing, but I dun want to worry about the scar when I'm at the beach or wearing a bikini. It's just one more scar on the body...
cup a chair - hello to this thread. If you read through it you'll find that quite a lot of people have had njs and there's lots of useful information.
The photo of that Vietnamese girl on Dr. Toriumi's website is indeed very impressive but he is SOOOO expensive!! I think one girl did it and it was something like $20,000 USD...can you really afford that kind of $$$?
Plus, Dr. Toriumi only uses rib cartilege, no implants...
to tell the truth, if I had the money I probably would consider Dr.Toriumi, but $20,000 is just insane!!
Maskd - thanx, I think I need to do more research regarding this donated rib business - and also, just as a side note, I wonder if it's REALLY donated...hehe....I mean, who in their right mind would just decide to donate a rib for the cosmetic use of other people??
Maskd - sorry for yet another question (you are like the god-mother of this blog) but how and where is the scarring? Is it on the side of the nostril or underneath the nose? Does it every completely fade away and is it obvious?
Maskd - I need your help with another question. Donated rib cartilege - as much as the idea of wearing someone else's rib on my nose freaks me out - what do you know about the safety record of this? I know there's the risk of absorption with using my own cartilege, but is this risk increased when it's donated from someone else's rib?
Also, do you know if donated rib is as easy to remove as silicone?
Maskd - thanx so much for sharing!~ Your old nose wasn't bad, it was cute and everything, but your new nose is so much more elegant. I think the 'before' was pretty but the 'now' is beautiful.
It looks so natural as well!
I think you are right about not comparing countries but rather, comparing doctors. Money aside, I have to say I'm really rather worried about being "rushed..."
Just to confirm - is that 3 hours for you each that Dr.Chueng spent on you and your friend, not 3 hours in total (for the two of you, i.e. 1.5 hour per person)...*thanx*
Tinatina- what do you think? do you reckon Taiwan might be the way to go? I think we should pick a country, and then just fly there and do face to face consultations with a couple of chosen doctors. We can then make an informed decision over there...
*lol* it seems our parents are all rather unimpressed with our decisions. I'm not telling my folks either. In fact, I plan to go ahead and get my nose done, then when I come back, if I get questioned over it, it's deny deny deny...
plus, there's always the chance that once they see the nj has made me prettier and happier, they'll accept my decision...
