  1. Finally, one last piece of observation. Last few days I have been religiously emailing various doctors in Korea and Taiwan and this is my observation:

Korean doctors - relatively fast to reply back, but the answers are very brief (with the exception of Oz clinic). Also, despite me only sending a frontal picture of me, none of the Korean doctors asked to see a profile picture.

The Korean doctors were all relatively quick to say "yes" including Dr. Jung, who after sending him a picture of the Korean actress Song and a frontal picture of me, I asked him if it was possible to give me this nose. His reply was "yes but not exactly the same".

Taiwan doctors - these doctors were slower to reply but when they did, they asked more questions than answered mine. One doctor said something along the lines of "if you are serious about surgery, you better send me six more photos ..." and went on to list the various degrees and positions of each. Another doctor simply said "you need to send me profile photo before I can answer any questions".

I felt personally that the Taiwan doctors were more ...what's the word...medical?? i.e. they felt they needed more information before they could safely answer my questions and make recommendation on what would be best for me.

Also, one Korean doctor told me the surgery would take 3-3.5 hours. From previous threads, I think Korean doctors take 1-1.5 hours for the operation?

This gives raise to the following question.

Korean (possibly more skillful) vs. Taiwan (possibly more attentive/careful) = which is better?

Is it better to go with a more 'skilled' doctor who takes a cavier attitude towards you and is rushed, or is it better to go with a 'less skilled but still very competent" doctor who is careful and takes his time?

Which gives you the better outcome?

Maskd - that's why I'm interested in knowning how long it took Dr. cheung to give you that GORGEOUS nose!

  2. Zb51 - hello there! Welcome  If you read through the threads you'll find lots of information and opinions on different doctors in Korea and Taiwan. Even though BK is indeed a very popular clinic I dun think I'll be going there as it sounds a bit like a PS factory with docotors feeling very rushed and not spending enough time on each patient. Plus, the after-care is pretty atrotious.

  3. Coby 11, yeah, it's as I feared - Korea is EXPENSIVE *lol* but if you have your dream nose (and it sounds like everything is going really well) then the money is definitely worth it in my opinion! Do you have a b4 and after pic that you don't mind sharing?? please...??

I'm sure your nose will only get more and more beautiful each day - that's the 'good' part of healing I guess - how if things go well, you get to look forward to each day and a better nose every morning

  4. Tinatina - how are you girl? I'm from Melb

Let's travel together (I think Asiandoll is also interested but she's got her heart set on Korea at the moment). I am still torn between Taiwan or Korea but since I won't have money to go until next year, I guess I can still afford to agitate for a few more months!

Like you, I think Korea is better in that it is the plastic surgery centre of Asia. But Taiwan is so much more affordable, and looking at Maskd's picture Dr. Cheung does one hell of a fine job! Of-course, I need to look at Maskd's before photo first to be completely certain, cause it could be that maskd had a pretty nose even before the surgery

If we go together, maybe we can even co-ordinate our living arrangements and flights before we land? It will be such a comfort to have fellow travellers in the same boat as myself. It's incredibly frightening and lonely doing this by myself.

  5. Maskd - thanx so much for the photo!! your nose is absolutely GORGEOUS!! It is just PERFECT - and the curves are great!! In particular, your tip is soo cute, and like you say, the height of the bridge is just right! I think Dr. Chueng did an amazing job

btw, do you have any 'before' photos? Please please can I have a look at that? This will give me an idea of what sort of nose you need as a 'basis' before you can get the dream nose - afterall, how your nose will look still very much depends on what potential your original nose had in the first place

  6. Asian doll - I'm so sad to hear about your two previous surgeries...but I think you are right to choose Dr.Jung as he seems to have a lot of experience doing revisions.

One thing which troubles me about Dr. Jung however, is that he does not appear to be a member of any plastic surgery associations? I recently went on his website again, and he has added in some information about being invited to act as president for some association. I've then done a search for that association and coudn't find it online!!

To be completely sure, I've emailed a couple of Korean Plastic Surgery associations asking if Dr. Jung and a few other Korean doctors I'm interested in are indeed members (like they claim on their website). Hopefully, somebody at the associations will answer me...

I also asked the associations whether any complaints or lawsuits have been lodged against any of these doctors recently...

It seems a few of us are now getting ready to be the "next batch" to get our dream noses ... I think it'll be great to all go together! Indeed, we can get rooms next to each other initially and help look after one another.

In Korea, there's a self-service apartments that's pretty cheap - I think 500USD for a week or something - and it's easy to get to Dr. Jung's clinic from there - I think 4 or 5 stops direct on the train/metro.

If I go to Korea - I will probably only have enough money 2008 around mid-year. When are you thinking of going?

  7. maskd - thanx, the simulation thing was really a bit to MJ for me - you'd think these surgeons would at least try to make my pic attractive in an effort to entice me...hehe, they are more scaring me off than anything else!

also, please please can I see a pic of your nose b4 and after? I tried following the link in previous posts but could only see ur eyes  thanx so so much!

  8. asian doll - when are you thinking of going to Korea? this year or next? Also, have you decided which ps you are gonna go to?

I'm tossing up between Taiwan and Korea...

Taiwan = cheaper, and have had positive feedback

Korea = way way way more expensive, but it's also the plastic surgery centre of Asia. I only have one face and one chance to get it right the first time ... should do what will give me the best results and worry about $$$ as a secondary issue...

If I go to Taiwan - I could probably afford to go in Dec or early 2008. If I go to Korea, it won't be until at least mid-2008 before I have enough moola ...$$$...

  9. Thanx Coby - don't know if you read it but there was a previous blogger who didn't think Dr.Jung was all that good, and that's why it got me worried...do u know how many hours Dr.Jung took on your surgery?

did you do open procedure, and if so, are there any scars?

I'm actually thinking of doing exactly what you've done - i.e. make bridge slightly higher (don't want to look like an alien with a flat face and narrow nose) and make my tip more pointy...

How long were you in Korea and did u go by yourself? Where did you stay and was it damned expensive$$$???

hope your healing is going well and not too swollen

  10. Thanx so much Coby11! Ur information is invaluable and I am going to print it out and study it carefully. ARe you in Seoul right now?

Did you get your nose done by Dr. Jung? What did you do, what material did you use, how long did it take and did you like the doctor? Are you satisfied with the results and how much did it cost? Did you feel Dr.Jung was "rushed"?

hehe, sorry about all the questions! I am tossing up between seeing Dr.Jung in Korea or Dr.Chang in Taiwan!

Also, is anybody interested in coming along with me? I would lurve some company!

  11. Keenose - what you say about the chinese face-reading is really really interesting...I need to look into it more. I don't think a nose that is too pointy is good either, a little bit of roundness makes us look younger and sweeter. Obviously, if it's too round and large then that's not attractive, but definitely not something too sharp.

I remember my grandmother used to say "high cheekbones = kill husbank" and sharp nose = sly and untrustworthy"

    god, how things have changed!

  12. I have to say, the Singapore forum is sooooo incredibly long, and it's hard to find the useful stuff.

A friend of mine had a nj done a few years ago and she said that the worst part about the healing is how you can't have a shower or bath afterwards...she said that it was a good thing it was winter because otherwise she would have seriously stunk!!...

  13. Keenose - (I lurve ur username btw) - I have a fairly high bridge already (like Maskd I think) and I'm just looking to refine it a little bit more. I'm thinking maybe 2 or 3mm of silicone is probably the most appropriate...

As for my tip, I have a bit of a round tip so I'm hoping to make it more pointy and lengthen it a wee bit.

Gosh, I'm feeling really nervous about it...

Also, keenose, I understand what you mean by feeling "old"...hehe...I sometimes wonder when we will stop worrying about whether we are looking our best and swap it with worrying about how to look younger...hehe...

  14. Hi guys, I've been a silent reader of this forum for the last 5 days - starting from the very beginning all the way to now! I haven't had a chance to read the singapore forum yet but I'm planning to start that tonight.

I want to say thanx to all the people who have been so generous in sharing their experience with others. I know that this forum has been invaluable to me personally, and I've learnt so much that I would otherwise have no other way of knowning - searching asian nj on the internet is a b8tch!! as I'm sure many of you already know!

Maskd - a very special mention to you - you are an AWESOME girl and sound beautiful inside and outl! I've really appreciated your thoughtful comments and very useful information.

A little bit about myself. I am in my mid-twenties (HELLO Keennnose  and I'm considering a nj with either Dr.Jung (Korea), Dr.Kim(BK) or Dr.Park (Ozclinic). OR, I'm considering Dr.Chueng (Taiwan) or Dr.Tseng

I'm still considering whether I want to do eyelashes, which if I decide to will be with Dr.Jong (he sounds like a perfectionist which is the perfect quality to have in a PS!!

As for timing, I am considering going October 2008 (keenose - did you say Dr.Cheung told you that October was a good time to go because it's generally quiet?)

I know that's still a LONG time away (a whole year) but for something as drastic as this, it's never too early to start planning *lol*

I would absolutely LOVE company, so please let me know if that timing sounds good to you.

The timing is not set in stone yet - I might be able to go a bit earlier or a bit later, but it's a rough estimate.

As for material, I'm thinking maybe silicone I or 'bird' L shape (again, thanx Maskd for the info). The reason I'm choosing silicone instead of gortex and rib is because I want the option of removing it if I don't like it. Also, nobody knows what will happen in the next 20-30-40-even50 years and I want the option of being able to remove the foreign object out of my nose easily if something goes wrong with it.

It's hard to think about what will happen 50 years after we have our nosejobs, and many people might even think - at 70something, who cares!?! But trust me, when you actually reach 70 something, you will care. It's very common to live a long life now, and I want to play on the safe side. Besides, if something really great happens technology wise when I am 40 or 50, I want the option of removing silicone to take advantage of the new technology. Gortex, with its high chance of deformity upon removal, seems too permanent and scary to me.

I'm preparing a list of questions I should ask the surgeon (I'll email a couple of PS in the next week or so) and would really love any help with suggestions on what I should ask. Maskd, if I may, can I ask you what questions you asked Dr.Cheung when you did your consultations? In particular, what did he say regarding the long-term consequences of the plastic surgery, and whether the nose returns to pre-operation if you take out the silicone? What about the tip? Is it "reversable?"

Thanx so much guys for providing this wonderful wonderful forum ;)
