ID Hospital Korea Experiences

Recommended Posts

Hi! I actually contacted Seoul Touch up for recommendation on jaw reduction, zygoma reduction, rhinoplasty and eyelid revision. They recommended me ID and other two clinics which I never even heard before! When I asked them about Banobagi, they told me that nobody in Korea wants to do their surgery there, Banobagi does more advertising and marketing to attract foreigners, it's actually not good at all. And when I told them about what I heard on news regarding ID switching doctors during surgery, they got a little unhappy and said that those rumors are totally untrue, those are spread by other competitive clinics and how will the patients know the doctors being switched when she was under anesthesia?! Did she saw it herself?!

So to my opinion, I think this organization is not trustworthy.

if u guys are going to go through an agency make sure they are not blindly sending u to clinics but rather sending you guys to the specialist surgeon. Or else there's really no point in using their service besides the vip perks. At the end of the day the surgical results is the primary concern after all.

That is quite suspicious because even people who are not Korean (like us, forumers) know that ID is famous for facial contouring surgery. There are lots of other places for eyes and nose..

Hey there! So I came back from Korea in Decemebr and had my double eyelid surgery done at ID based on a friends recommendation and seeing the results of a few forumers back in 2012. I dropped out of Purseforum a few months after I did my rhino at JW so I didn't really read all the drama that was posted here... :/

I asked them about the doctor switching at ID and the other clinics I consulted and everyone from Dream to DARPS and ID said if they're doctor switching it would be near impossible to keep it underwraps since so many people would have to be complicit.

Anyway, I am very happy with my double eyelid results--I went to dr. Hwang In Suk. I got nonincisional with ptosis correction and epi. If you're curious, I'd be happy to share censored photos with you

I think Purseforum is a great resource in terms of learning about plastic surgery procedures and recovery experiences. But so many fake reviews (good and bad) are shared that I take a lot of the clinic reviews with a grain of salt...

Anyhow good luck to you!!!

Oops, I meant to reply to your post not pikachu's...

Also, I went to ID asking for Dr. Hwang, and apparently there's two... I wasn't sure which one my friend had gone to so I asked which one is best... Which is when they spouted all the accolades of Dr. Hwang In Suk (idk why I find it hilarious that he has the same first name as Jo In Suk but.. Lols) so it would seem like they do have specialists. ID is definitely known for facial contouring but it seems like a lot of ppl go there.. The VJ girl on the Korean show "Aliens from Mars" (not sure what it's English title is) had her eye revision done at ID and broadcasted her experience on TV. So.. Idk. They must have some reputation, right?

Hey Purse_Angel,

kkim120 mentioned him above but Dr. In Seok Hwang at ID is really good with anything having to do with eyes...a friend of mine also just got her eyes done from him and they turned out so well so now I'm thinking of going to him as well..good thing I live in Seoul so I can go whenever I have some extra money to spend (which at the rate I'm going will be in 5 years lol). I think because they were so known for bone surgery only they've added doctors that specialize in other areas as well.

YES! I second this. Don't just blindly agree and follow what the agency says. You are paying for their services and it is your right and their responsibility to take good care of you.

For what I know (I contacted a few before my trip and even did a research on it when I am in Korea) is that they have a list of clinics for you to choose and yes, they do have their top lists of clinics which they strongly recommend.

BUT. do understand that they do get service charge or put it in layman term (commission) from sending patients there. There are tons of agency out there, some of them are just fxcked up and send you to places where they get more $$ but there are also agency that provides you with genuine services and recommendations.

My suggestion to finding a good agency is to SEND ALOT OF EMAILS to various agency, talk to them and tell them what procedures you are looking at and ask them if they could let you know their clinics recommendation (most of the time, they will tell you).

ID is strongly recommended by so many agency and agents because they are famous through the MAKEOVER show and they spent a lot on marketing - how else do you think you see their names coming up everywhere? and I guess thats why all the china dolls who had their faces done at that hospital look like they were photocopied.

But if I look at it from another point, they are called factory but why are people still going to them? Partly could be due to the makeover show and their marketing but would people still go ahead with them IF they weren't at all good?

I have absolutely no personal experience with them but I've few china friends who had their surgeries done with them. Not that they have botched surgeries, in fact i think they look pretty (plastic pretty, duh) but when they stand together, they look like they were born from the same mother. Still, they look stunning. hehe

Just my 2 cents worth, i hope it helps

If I were you I would hold back and do more research/consultation before a final decision. Afterall, this is your face and it would not be easy to fix anything in case it didn't go well, you only got one chance really. Anyway wish you luck and success with your surgery.

Hey! PM me your email address, I'll be able to share my photos with you.
I'd asked for very natural tapered, tapered fold, but I think the difference still feels dramatic. :P
I went to Dr. Hwang at ID. My experience there was nothing like the horror stories posted here--when I went through the consultation process I thought ID was pretty organized and efficient.
It's been a while, but I remember I was put under sedation for my surgery, which is AWESOME because I'd be terrified to be awake while people are cutting my eyelids up and being told "blink. okay, open your eyes. close your eyes." Etc.

If you go through some of my old posts, you should be able to find full reviews on my consultations and my whole experience at ID.

Good luck!

Is it possible to request to be put under sedation? I have the same fear!

Hmm. I don't actually know--I had the same nonincisional DES recommended to me by View clinic as well, and they said I'd be awake for my surgery. It may depend on the surgeon and his technique.
