versehg
Omg you are so right, that is why I feel my face looks rough. But then again, reading lots of complication stories from zygoma reduction makes me cancel my decision to do it... Maybe will do if in the future there is more advanced surgery technique
jalonineeyi
Well cause they have beautiful eyes/nose and good ratio. I find them attractive but who knows if they would look even better with softer facial contour. like not everybody looks fine with wide and big cheekbones lol
touni27
"not everybody looks fine with wide and big cheekbones"Actually.. I think everyone does look fine. If you are not deformed. You look fine. And tbh you can say that about any and every facial feature. Not everyone looks fine with Megan Fox's eyes. Not everyone looks great with Angelina jolie's lips. If you got angelina jolie's lips on a tiny V line face.... You'd look like a fish. If you put emily didonato's eyes on a person with a tiny V line face you'd look like a creepy baby alien. It's not just a single feature. It's the harmony of the face. And you can change a lot of things other than cheekbones to harmonize your face. No matter how big your cheekbones are. I think people's goal with plastic surgery should be to try to become just a prettier version of yourself and not try to strive for perfection. Cuz that's where you can start looking weird.... And You CAN get a more harmonious face without zygoma reduction. If zygoma reduction can give you those sagging risks that are irreversible is it worth it? My post is two things. One to uplift the spirits of girls who feel like they can't look beautiful because they have big cheekbones and they feel hopeless because the risks of zygoma reduction are not worth it. I want to prove that you can look beautiful even with big cheekbones so people are not down about the size of their cheekbones and get their cheekbones reduced and end with complications that cost them way more money and sadness down in their lives. Some people consider big cheekbones beautiful and a striking feature. Second to reconsider if it's NECESSARY for you to get it reduced. Is it just you that think your face looks unharmonious? And is it even your cheekbones? Are your cheekbones even that big? Is it even making your face look rough? Are there anything else you can change instead to make your face harmonious? I've seen a ton of before and afters of girls who are beautiful who have half the size of these girl's cheekbones in my post and they still get cheekbone reduction. And there's a good handful of them that has gotten severe sagging and are now miserable. I made the point earlier that because of the zygoma reduction risks I think it's better idea to look into other enhancements than cutting your cheekbone. Maybe improving your eyes (there's all sorts of surgeries now not just double eyelid for enhancing your eye shape) , even growing out eyelashes, maybe Rhinoplasty, maybe forehead fat grafting, maybe lips. There's a ton of other things you can improve aand harmonize your face without reducing cheekbones. Because reducing cheekbones might just not be worth it. And simply just MAKEUP, STYLE, CONFIDENCE.... NUTRITION, FITNESS, guys there's a lot. And tbh.... I think we criticize ourselves too much. I look at Chloe Kim and she's got really wide facial contours but imo she looks great. And her instagram followers are just going gaga drooling over her including me so... And I just want to reiterate. Everyone looks fine. You guys all look fine. You might not look perfect. You might not look like Han yeh seul or angelina jolie but you guys can look like a great version of yourself without cheekbone surgery. And you guys probably can look BA BA BOOOOM with just small changes here and there. There's an article i read somewhere that said ideal beauty is just millimeters apart. But if you must get cheekbone surgery just do you research! I've done a ton myself because I wanted to get cheekbone reduction. I know a PS surgeon that I would go to and I trust the most if i were to get cheekbone reduction. But I'm weighing if it's worth it or not and honestly.. Currently not worth it imo. missorange
Thank you sooooo much @touni27 for your thread and posts! It's a brilliant idea to show and do all the research for girls obsessing over whether to get zygoma reduction but are stuck at not wanting to risk facial sagging or bone malunion complications. I love how many examples you show of celebs with wide beautful faces. And I agree tweaking something else draws attention away from the cheeks. For me I am using long hair to hide my cheeks in public and realised even HYS does this in her ig selfies? She uses her hair, hands or cap to cover part of her face to give the illusion of a smaller face. I cannot accept that we need to break our cheekbones and then plate and screw the fractures to reduce our cheekbones by 1-2 cms like leg lengthening when we have to balance this with facial skin and soft tissue sagging, muscles not reattached properly, osteoporosis after menopause shrinking our bones anyway at up to 3% a year in the first 5-7 years. In fact I recall my paternal grandmother shrank to under 5 feet in height with a hunched back from kyphosis/osteoporosis so can't imagine what would happen to facial bones weakened by iatrogenic fractures. We have no longterm follow-up on girls who get zygoma reduction. I am waiting for better surgical advancements. For instance why aren't korean surgeons simply shaving the zygoma with the new ultrasonic knife sonopet like used by my UK ps on my chin so not cutting with adding screws? Why not make a small incision in front of the ear like a facelift and then shave the protruding side zygoma? Why the need to go through the mouth and cut through both the maxilla and zygoma bones? gabriellaa555
Yes i i can vote fot the best thread this will win for me! Cheeckbone reduction is quite weird trend in Asian countries. In Western world ppl do cheeckbone augmentation by fillers. Tbh I think the only needed surgery for ppl who does not qualify to 2jaw surgery is square jaw reduction- for woman as it can really make your face more man looking and if you don't like it. mlydzz
the asians have a good small chin so i guess it balances it out
velvettini
Sadly, in my case, this doesn't help at all, but I'm glad others can see that there's nothing wrong with a wide face. Wide and short faces are actually desired - they look feminine, youthful and fresh. All of these women actually just have wide faces, not wide cheekbones. Notice how their eyes are set 1 width or even wider apart? Their fifths are in harmony and that's what I lack and what makes me look so ugly. If my eyes weren't close-set my face wouldn't look that long... Argh, so frustrating. Therefore I have to reduce my cheekbones in order to make each of the widths next and between my eyes take up less space than one eye. I'll also end up looking like an alien with big ass eyes but it's worth it haha
touni27
I 'm the opposite i have wide set eyes with wide cheekbones haha. I wish i could have close set eyes T_T. I get called alien all the time. But yea if you want to do cheekbone reduction just please please do your research there are ways to get it with less risk! And make sure your doctor knows how to consider the muscles and tissues surrounding your cheekbones. A LOT of them do not.
touni27
Thanks Miss Orange and everyone! There is a surgeon in korea that does that I'm planning to consult with him for possible jaw surgery. He's the same one that did the girl i showed up top who had wide cheekbones and just did jaw surgery.
velvettini
I envy you. No, you really don't want close-set eyes. People tend to find it disgusting. Especially when it's in combination with wide cheekbones - that makes it look 10 times worse. Also, people with close-set eyes often have underdeveloped midfaces (like me). Sadly, I'm too much of a coward to undergo Lefort III so I just hope I'll look less disgusting after Double Jaw and other procedures... All I really want is to look normal and have a man like my face instead of my body, but even if I achieve that, the cheekbone reduction is going to make me age poorly... There's no winning in my situation, but yeah. I'm just so glad plastic surgery exists.
platypus123
Lol I feel you... just read your post about double jaw indecision... i feel like if you and other people think you have a "horse face", it's best to just bite the bullet and get that double jaw surgery to achieve the small V face at one go. Otherwise, just a chin surgery may not do the trick.
platypus123
Actually, you can make your eyes less close set by going for lateral canthoplasty (extending the outer corner of your eyes). That gives them a wider set look!
yumigumi
Hi, can you PM me the name of the surgeon that performs it?
iasked
As someone agonizing over whether I should get zygoma reduction, I do appreciate this thread. However it doesn't detract from the fact that these celebs have other beautiful features going for them like chiselled jawlines, wide eyes and beautiful noses, as well as symmetry - well, more than the average person anyway. It also ignores the fact that most of these celebs, especially the western ones, their prominent cheekbones start from below the eyes (mine start at eye level) and projects forward more than it does sideways, whereas Asian cheekbones, at least mine, are just obscenely protruding to the side, making for some jagged facial outline. Also, lack of mid face prognathism just serves to highlight how wide the cheekbones are, thus making the face look flat and less dimensional, giving it a concave look. What makes it worse is when a lot of people tell me things like "Oh if I just saw your face without seeing your body, I'd think you were overweight" The irony being that I'm super skinny so I sort of give out this lollipop look, big head, stick body.
