  1. Past hour
  2. I have had one that didn't and two that did. The one that didn't, I had already been in Korea in person. I was there booking the appointment. The two others I did from my home country. I think it is worth clarifying.
  3. Today
  4. One that I have heard of a lot is over-worked faces. In that people have had too many surgeries which lead to damages and doing another would be a high-risk for poor results. It is not worth risking this for doctors and ruining their reputation. For cases like this, you need to find a specialist and fixes botched surgeries and does expert level reconstruction.
  5. I have had something very similar to this done. This is one of the most common surgeries in Korea so the risks are low given how experienced doctors are. If you have any concerns, reaching out to one might help ease some stress and worry.
  6. Maybe I am looking in the wrong places but I can't seem to find an answer on this. I asked on another forum and reddit but no one replied. I am hoping to get some answers here. I watched a video that mentioned a medical visa but I am not sure if that is something I need or not. I am in the United States FIY. Not sure if the surgery matters or not. EDIT: for clarification, "for work" means plastic surgery. I don't want to be misunderstood given the standard nature of visas.
  7. Yesterday
  8. NOPE. It is not worth it. Botox is not something that is terribly expensive to begin with. Why would I ever go to another country and spend all the costs of hotel, flights, etc. and pay more when I can just book an appointment 30 min from where I live?
  9. I heard Grand Plastic Surgery has a doctor that has worked with several KPop stars. I believe the doctor's name is Dr. Rhee Se Whan if I am remembering the right clinic. Good luck finding more information on this though. It is not easy.
  10. I believe you are sedated for this so medical complications could arise from that. Very important to get your heart checked before getting anything done that requires you to be put under as it can stop your heart!
  11. I think it depends on what your budget is as well. If you don't care about flight costs, avoiding the main monsoon season is probably best but you can find good deals on flights and hotel stays during that time too.
  12. Last week
  13. Most clinics will charge you ahead of time, even if you are there in person. They require a percentage or flat fee when booking an appointment so if you miss it or don't show up, they still get something out of it. @lolya18 basically summed it all up perfectly.
  14. I believe this is considered one of the lower risk procedures. You can end up with some bruising and swelling but it usually only lasts a week or two. I also read/heard of blurred vision and dry eye complaints but again, they only last a few weeks at most. Vision loss is probably the worst risk but is extremely rare. Risks like that are seen in people that have had multiple surgeries by the way.
  15. Based on what I have looked into, health conditions is a big factor, possible the biggest. So medical issues that would label you a surgery risk. So someone on blood thinners for example are more prone to excessive bleeding and they are considered higher risk.
  16. I was curious about this myself but unfortunately can't find much There were some posts I saw on Instagram on the subject but no solid proof. They are very private over there. Not like here in the US.
  17. I have never had any extensive work done. Just a but of botox and some lasering. I am looking into fixing my eye issue but I am a bit concerned about risks. I saw some pictures that have me paranoid. Looking for reassurance before I book anything.
  18. I have seen operations done for as little as 3 grand but you have to be careful. If they are undercharging for a more complex surgery, it is a red flag. I'd say recovery time in total is anywhere from 6 months to 2 years. That is for a full recovery. Mine took about 9 months. I spent 28 days in Korea.
  19. I joined after reading this. I wanted to respond since I had this confusion as well. After having gone through the process, there is an easy answer. When you elect to have surgery of any kind overseas be it plastic or health-related, you are often met with a fee and/or down payment. This is done as a means to not lose revenue if someone decides to not show or flights get delayed. They schedule operations in advance and it is often hard to book late notice operations so they end up losing money. This is a safety net that shows the client is serious and if for whatever reason they do a "no show", they are not losing money for the time scheduled for that person.
  20. I had been in talks with a clinic (I won't say who as I don't want to give them bad rep) but after going over pictures, details, health records, etc. - I was declined!!! I got an e-mail this morning telling me that the clinic had to cancel my appointment and decline the operation due to "risk" and they did not state what the risk was. I did reply but I am not sure if they will reply back or not. I am not sure what the hours are over there, I just know I read the e-mail earlier this morning. What are some reasons a doctor would decline doing work on you? I am at a loss here!
  21. I will be honest, this kind of information is often hidden. Doctors won't say anything and the stars that get work done usually don't want people to know. That being said, it is rumored that a number of K-Pop starts have gone to Dream Medical Group/SNSD Clinic. Dr. Jaegwon Wang at Oracle Clinic is said to be one that has worked on a number of them. Again, these are just rumors!
  22. I always tell people to confirm the doctors on the official site to make sure they are registered and legit. When you find a clinic you like and a doctor you think would be good, verify before even contacting them. Either way this is great information!
  23. It depends on the surgery. Just ask the doctor or clinic, they will be able to tell you what to expect in terms of recovery time. Some people don't need anything beyond a check-up a few days after and can go home. Others need a week or two for check-ups before they should go home.
  24. Hi everyone! I am not new to plastic surgery but I am new to getting it done overseas. I have been in contact with a clinic in Korea and I found out last night that I will need to pay a fee in order to book my appointment. I am planning on going in May to get neck done (neck lift) as I have had a bit more sagging than I would like going on. The cost was just too high to get it done locally so this is what led me to look in to options in other countries. I am just not sure if this is normal. They did say the money I pay will be part of the total cost so it will be deducted when I arrive to pay the rest. Is it normal for a clinic to require money upfront when scheduling online?
  25. Anywhere from $5,000 to just under $20,000 from my understanding. It really depends on the extend of the work needed done. As for recovery, you are looking at a minimum of a 2 week stay in Korea. I would plan for 3 or 4 weeks though if you need a more complex surgery. Recovery time outside of post-surgery stuff will be 4 to 6 weeks for the resting period (no strenuous activities or exercise) and then 6 months to a year on average for full recovery. Some take a bit over a year.
  26. This is actually very handy for me as I am still looking into a lot of options myself. I kind of assumed some of it can be done online seeing as Korea gets a lot of foreigners that go there for work. Either way, thanks for this info!
  27. This was one of my bigger concerns. Even though I know a lot of people online say they had no issues, I worry that words can be crossed and not understood resulting in less than desirable results.
  28. I am not sure if this is a good place to ask but I know a like of kpop stars get work done. They are always so beautiful and attractive. I am mixed race (part Korean) and would love to get work done that is on par with what these people get. I have wanted to appear more Korean honestly. I feel like people confuse what I am too often. Anyways, does anyone know? Or know where I can find this kind of information?
  29. It seems to be a surgery that is more common in men which makes sense as men suffer from a different kind of balding. Women tend to thin out hair all over making them less suitable for these sorts of treatments and operations. You'd have to make sure your scalp and hair health as well as density is right. A knowledgeable doctor will be able to help!
