I am not 100% but I believe this is the kind of surgery a friend of mine had and it took her 4 months to heal. She was told it had been fully healed at that point. Everyone is different though.

I had heard this, which is why I was asking. It is hard to make sense of such claims when I see the same thing all the time but there are complaints thrown in. It seems like it is a great place to look but there are highly rated doctors outside of this area as well. Thanks everyone for all the feedback

No you just need a standard passport unless you plan on staying there for an extended time. I can't remember what it is called but a set of nations allows for easy travel without visas via passports and the US and South Korea are two of those locations.

So $1000 for hotel and flights, and $8,000 for the surgery. I'll probably want at least $1000 for shopping/food so I guess planning on $10,000 would be ideal? Thanks for the information!!

Hello. I am looking to have a rhinoplasty done. I have spoke with doctors locally here in Italy and the cost and time frame is just too expensive! I am trying to see what my options are elsewhere. Other countries I have checked also quite high but South Korea seems to be very affordable all things considered. Is there a way I can get a quote of the cost without having to travel there? Is this something clinics will do? I see averages online but I would like to know what my nose in particular would be estimated to cost so I can save up. Thanks!

I would look around on places like Instagram. You might have better luck with gaining information. There are some people that focus on beauty and plastic surgery for example as well as trends that all tie into K-Pop stars, music, and all that. Just follow some and read the comments!!

I think this is why most if not all clinics will ask for medical history or records. It makes sense as surgery can be a major issue for some people even if it is minor. I have a friend who takes medication that makes it a risk to get dental work done. She actually has to stop the medication for a week prior every time.

This is actually a good question. As far as I know, you do not need one. I believe the standard travel laws (through a passport) allow for up to a 90 day stay. So You could realistically go there for 3 months and get tons of work done and have time for it. I don't think any western nation requires a special visa.

This is what honestly got me looking into it. The price differences are insane and Korea seems to have higher quality standards for it. This is why I asked. It has crossed my mind but I didn't calculate anything. I am quite jealous haha Yeah I think as people have said, it is only worth it if I am already going there for a trip and just happen to get it done. As much as I want to go and do it, I think I will save and plan. Make a vacation out of it.

I have had one that didn't and two that did. The one that didn't, I had already been in Korea in person. I was there booking the appointment. The two others I did from my home country. I think it is worth clarifying.

One that I have heard of a lot is over-worked faces. In that people have had too many surgeries which lead to damages and doing another would be a high-risk for poor results. It is not worth risking this for doctors and ruining their reputation. For cases like this, you need to find a specialist and fixes botched surgeries and does expert level reconstruction.

I have had something very similar to this done. This is one of the most common surgeries in Korea so the risks are low given how experienced doctors are. If you have any concerns, reaching out to one might help ease some stress and worry.

Maybe I am looking in the wrong places but I can't seem to find an answer on this. I asked on another forum and reddit but no one replied. I am hoping to get some answers here. I watched a video that mentioned a medical visa but I am not sure if that is something I need or not. I am in the United States FIY. Not sure if the surgery matters or not. EDIT: for clarification, "for work" means plastic surgery. I don't want to be misunderstood given the standard nature of visas.

NOPE. It is not worth it. Botox is not something that is terribly expensive to begin with. Why would I ever go to another country and spend all the costs of hotel, flights, etc. and pay more when I can just book an appointment 30 min from where I live?

I heard Grand Plastic Surgery has a doctor that has worked with several KPop stars. I believe the doctor's name is Dr. Rhee Se Whan if I am remembering the right clinic. Good luck finding more information on this though. It is not easy.

I believe you are sedated for this so medical complications could arise from that. Very important to get your heart checked before getting anything done that requires you to be put under as it can stop your heart!

I think it depends on what your budget is as well. If you don't care about flight costs, avoiding the main monsoon season is probably best but you can find good deals on flights and hotel stays during that time too.

Most clinics will charge you ahead of time, even if you are there in person. They require a percentage or flat fee when booking an appointment so if you miss it or don't show up, they still get something out of it. @lolya18 basically summed it all up perfectly.

I believe this is considered one of the lower risk procedures. You can end up with some bruising and swelling but it usually only lasts a week or two. I also read/heard of blurred vision and dry eye complaints but again, they only last a few weeks at most. Vision loss is probably the worst risk but is extremely rare. Risks like that are seen in people that have had multiple surgeries by the way.

Based on what I have looked into, health conditions is a big factor, possible the biggest. So medical issues that would label you a surgery risk. So someone on blood thinners for example are more prone to excessive bleeding and they are considered higher risk.

I have seen operations done for as little as 3 grand but you have to be careful. If they are undercharging for a more complex surgery, it is a red flag. I'd say recovery time in total is anywhere from 6 months to 2 years. That is for a full recovery. Mine took about 9 months. I spent 28 days in Korea.

I joined after reading this. I wanted to respond since I had this confusion as well. After having gone through the process, there is an easy answer. When you elect to have surgery of any kind overseas be it plastic or health-related, you are often met with a fee and/or down payment. This is done as a means to not lose revenue if someone decides to not show or flights get delayed. They schedule operations in advance and it is often hard to book late notice operations so they end up losing money. This is a safety net that shows the client is serious and if for whatever reason they do a "no show", they are not losing money for the time scheduled for that person.

I had been in talks with a clinic (I won't say who as I don't want to give them bad rep) but after going over pictures, details, health records, etc. - I was declined!!! I got an e-mail this morning telling me that the clinic had to cancel my appointment and decline the operation due to "risk" and they did not state what the risk was. I did reply but I am not sure if they will reply back or not. I am not sure what the hours are over there, I just know I read the e-mail earlier this morning. What are some reasons a doctor would decline doing work on you? I am at a loss here!
