KiWiP Posted October 27 Posted October 27 Be it from aging or just old wounds, pimples, etc. what options are there to correct this and what clinics are known for it in South Korea? I would imagine most people have scars or marks they don't like, especially as they get older. A lot of people end up with age spots. I have seen people in their 40s with them but I have also seen and met people well into their 60s and even 70s with minimal if any at all. I guess it depends on genetics and how much time you spend in the sun. I know too much sun damages and ages the skin, but we have known about this for decades. I do my best to not be in direct sunlight any longer than 30 minutes at a time. Anyways! As I said, I am looking for options to fix issues like this. I know they exist but I don't know what there is out there. Surgical or non-surgical. I would appreciate anyone with experience to let me know, especially if you had work for this done yourself. Even if it wasn't in South Korea. I would imagine most treatment options are the same everywhere for stuff like this since it is fairly common and something a lot of people complain about and want to fix. 1 Quote
smolcat22 Posted October 28 Posted October 28 This would fall under facial rejuvenation for most clinics. I have seen a number of them (such as POP Plastic) offer facial rejuvenation options. The most common approach for professional treatments include : Laser Therapy: Such as Q-Switch, Fraxel, or IPL, which target melanin directly. Chemical Peels: Using acids like glycolic, salicylic, or TCA to exfoliate surface pigment. Cryotherapy: Freezing spots with liquid nitrogen (common for age spots). Microdermabrasion/Dermabrasion: Physical exfoliation to remove the top skin layers. Quote
diannab63 Posted October 30 Posted October 30 Any clinic that offers scar revision or just lasers in general should be good for something like this. You can look around a bit but also check locally as laser treatments and things of this nature may be around the same cost as a trip to Korea. Don't forget you have to pay for plane tickets, hotel stay, food, etc. on top of the beauty treatment. Quote
kittycatkate Posted November 1 Posted November 1 NOTE PS is one that offers skin options. They have laser treatments for pigmentation and skin tone as well as shrinking pores, smoothing wrinkles, scar treatment and skin resurfacing. Quote
charlotteanderson Posted November 1 Posted November 1 The point about weighing treatment cost against travel expenses is worth emphasizing. For someone in a smaller market, laser pigmentation sessions may be limited locally, but factoring in flights, lodging, and time off often narrows the gap with a Korea trip. One practical step is to ask clinics whether they charge per session or per package, since pigmentation usually needs multiple rounds, and whether follow-up visits are included. Also worth asking which laser type they actually use for melanin, because not every clinic offering scar revision has the right platform for dark spots. Quote
Sarah Davis Posted November 1 Posted November 1 Asking about per-session versus package pricing is the practical detail that often decides this, since multiple rounds add up quickly. I'd also press on which laser platform they use specifically for melanin, as you said—scar revision equipment isn't interchangeable with pigmentation lasers. And confirming whether follow-ups are bundled matters, because a low per-session quote can hide extra consultation fees. Worth getting that in writing before comparing against travel costs. Quote
Sarah Davis Posted November 1 Posted November 1 The per-session versus package question really is the deciding factor once you account for travel. Something I'd add to the follow-up point: ask whether the bundled visits include a review after the full course, since pigmentation can rebound and that last check matters more than the early ones. Getting the laser platform and the fee structure in writing before booking flights seems wise, because a verbal quote across time zones is hard to hold anyone to. For anyone comparing a local option against travel, it may help to price the worst case (extra rounds) rather than the advertised minimum. Quote
lucasjohnson Posted November 2 Posted November 2 The point about pricing the worst case rather than the advertised minimum is the one I'd underline. With pigmentation needing several rounds, a package quote and a per-session quote can look close until rebound adds a late review plus an extra pass. Asking whether the post-course review is bundled, not just early follow-ups, is a fair question. And since verbal quotes across time zones are hard to enforce, getting the laser platform and fee structure in writing before booking anything seems the sensible baseline. None of that removes the need to confirm the clinic actually uses a melanin-appropriate platform locally either. Quote
honeybear0023 Posted Wednesday at 02:42 PM Posted Wednesday at 02:42 PM Check gowoonline for skin work. I have heard and read good things from them. No personal experience though so be sure to research! Quote
