mariemarie Posted October 29 Posted October 29 I noticed there are some plastic surgery clinics in South Korea that go by the same name or very similar names. Sometimes one is an older clinic that has since closed, other times it is down to clinic relocation. There are cases where two clinics exist at the same time with names that are pretty much identical... Which makes it super hard to find information online, especially if you are relying on AI. I have seen information be wrong a number of times because it was pulling from two different clinics! One example of this is "Pride Plastic Surgery" - which is located at 111 Dosan-daero, Seoul. Then you have "The Pride Plastic Surgery" - which is located at 4F, Apgujeong Building, 842 Nonhyeon-ro, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. See how this can be very confusing for someone trying to find information online that is not entirely familiar with the area or fluent in Korean? I am not really sure how to avoid this. Like I know not all clinics do this but I have seen enough of them that have such similar names, that the information you get online could be outdated or just flat out wrong. What is the best approach for stuff like this when trying to find information about a clinic, to make sure you are getting the right information for the right clinic? I have even seen confusion with recommendations and reviews too. Quote
Gelsomino Posted October 30 Posted October 30 I have seen this mentioned online before but not enough people seem to talk about it. Yes, there are clinics that can cause confusion. The Pride PS is a good example. I think the one with "the" is more recommended. I am not sure if the other is even open anymore? Quote
kittycatkate Posted November 1 Posted November 1 The only one I have ever seen like this was Dream Plastic Surgery . They have 3 different branches but they are all under the same affiliation. Quote
LupinBB81 Posted November 2 Posted November 2 I think in a lot of cases, this is down to an old clinic closing down and reopening in another location or possible another clinic absorbing another and keeping one of the names? It does not see all that common. There are tons of clinics so maybe I have overlooked something, it is possible! Quote
lucasjohnson Posted November 2 Posted November 2 The old-clinic-reopening idea seems plausible, though the name reuse is what causes the confusion rather than the move itself. The Pride PS example is a good one — if two similarly named places exist, it's hard to tell which is current without checking. With Dream Plastic Surgery, the shared affiliation at least makes the branches traceable. But for smaller places that get absorbed or renamed, there's often no clear trail. I'd guess it's less common than the number of clinics suggests, but it probably happens more than people notice. Quote
charlotteanderson Posted Monday at 09:12 PM Posted Monday at 09:12 PM The traceability point matters. A shared affiliation like Dream's branches gives you something to cross-check, while independent clinics that absorb or rename each other leave no obvious trail unless someone documents it. I'd add that sometimes the confusion is just similar English transliterations rather than any actual business link, which makes name-matching unreliable on its own. Checking current addresses and registration details seems safer than trusting the name. Like you, I suspect it's more common than people notice but rarely worth chasing down unless you're actually booking. Quote
